University of South Florida Golf Course - The Claw

We had a great time golfing the narrow fairways and challenging greens.

The staff was very friendly and helpful.

We even met a great couple from Boston

The Claw at USF is normal a pleasant round of golf. On this particular day It was not a pleasant day of golf. There was a group of 6 individuals play their round of golf together. A male golfer and a female golfer playing golf with one set of golf clubs and giving the female golfer instructions (she swung 5 to 6 times missing the ball each time) on the course holding up play. The course already backed up. Unfortunately the rest of the golfers had to patiently put up with the selfish golfers on the course.

The Greens where very shaggy like they needed clipped very badly.

Nothing spectacular about the course. But if you are a decent golfer looking for good value. This is a good choice. The one challenge here is that most greens are elevated requiring an additional club. But other than that, its a solid offering. The greens could use a haircut as they were a tad bit slow.

Played here last year several time. This round was the first this year. The course is in much better shape this year. Greens are a little slow but roll nice. Will be playing it more this year.

Snow Bird

I haven't played this course in years and used to leave it for when I wanted to golf on a budget. I always knew that the greens would not be in that great of shape and it would be a little wet but it was always a good value to just hit some balls. Today I went and couldn't be more impressed. They have completely turn this place around as I have not been here in at least five years and it was wonderful. I have played two other courses this week that were sopping wet and conditions were tough but here at the claw it was completely dry and the greens were fantastic. Will definitely be playing again

Loved playing here. The greens are small and elevated, so it really challenges you to hit good shots. Will be back!

Very flat and uneventful course. Greens are nice even though in transition this time of the year. Entire course very wet, excessive for fun play. All greens are push up greens and the perimeters are poor at best. Miss the green and you're either in weeds or severe erosion. Golf shop and dining area are drab, dirty and really ignored. Windows haven't been cleaned in quite awhile. Looks like a facility where they just get by. If you miss the fairway, weeds and dirt. Fairways are narrow and trees frequently come into play and attribute to poor turf in many areas. Good news is, the price is very reasonable, and you should enjoy your round when they dry things out.

It's been a few years since I last played it,but the fairways and greens are in very good shape definitely would go back

If you hit long and straight then this may not be a tough course but with the doglegs and water and trees it definitely gives a challenge.

Just staying in this area for a few weeks and have golfed here .....twice this week.

We found the course in relatively good shape.

There was a storm the previous Friday that took some trees down, but the course played well.

The price was great, we will play again

My wife, friend and I just played the Claw At USF. I would not recommend this course to anyone. The greens and tee boxes were awful. The fairways were in bad shape as well. This is unfortunate because the layout of the course is nice. Too bad the University doesn't spend some of its money on maintaining this course. It was more like a cow pasture than a golf course. Very disappointed.

I don’t want to be rude but you can tell the condition of the course right from the putting green don’t expect anything more than a goat track it’s not even worth $10 a round . I left after nine holes because it was frustrating the greens were so thick it was like putting through water the fairways were terrible and the rough was probably 4 inches maybe 5 inches just a terrible track

This course ate my butt today!! Wasn't playing great but even on those holes where I was hitting the ball well, this course is too much to eat for us old timers. I don't remember some of those holes being so long!! It was wet today which didn't help. Not the course's problem but it didn't help this old phart get a few more yards!!

The conditions were rough, mainly with the greens which was the ONLY bad thing about this place. I travel all over and play a lot of top courses; with that said, the layout here is amazing ! Each hole is different and forces you to play different shots. The beauty of the willow trees outlines your fairways and the nature here is unlike anything I’ve seen. Get these greens back and it’s 5 Star. If you appreciate design, accept its flaws and you will really enjoy this track
