Ocotillo Golf Club - White/Gold
About
If you come to Arizona to play desert golf, forget about Ocotillo. Ocotillo is a refreshing change of pace from most of the Valley's courses precisely because it isn't surrounded by desert.
The White Course is the most unique of the three. It has only one par 5, and the water is a factor on just five of the holes. But it also has the best hole on the property -- the 479-yard, par-4 ninth, which used to be an easy par 5 but is now a treacherous finishing touch.
The Gold nine is a devilish test and not just because water comes into play on six of the holes. The greens have a lot of slope in them and are difficult to read. And some pin placements are brutal; hit a downhill putt two feet past the
hole, and it might roll down into a swale and 30 feet by. Uphill putts, on the other hand, are extremely difficult to get to the hole, if for no other reason than Ocotillo's greens aren't as fast as some of the Valley's marquee desert courses.

What an outstanding course
Very well kept and just enough degree of difficulty to make you want to come again and again to improve. Staff was top shelf and very accommodating.
Grab a course map!!
I love playing this course because of how challenging it is and forces you to play strategic target golf. I say grab a course map because there are hills you play that water is waiting just on the other side. Course is built for the more accurate player. One bit of criticism is the grill onsite. If you're trying grab food at the turn; hot dogs are the safe bet. Since they make it all from scratch, so if you wait to order. You could be sitting there for 15 minutes.
It's a fun course, definitely a must play if you're in the south part of the Valley.
ABSOLUTE DUMP!!! DO NOT PLAY!!
Ocotillo today and it is an absolute dump!! Stay away. Virtually every aspect of the course is a mess!
TOTAL RIP OFF!
Gouging
Ocotillo is typically a nice course, no problem with it. But the beer costs are now completely outrageous and charging for range balls on a pathetic driving range is a scam. Not one even lie or footing on the range.
Even better than I remembered!
I recently played Ocotillo again (Blue/White) after not being here for a fairly long time. I forgot how much I missed it. The layout os fairly open, with a ton of water, but still very pRange is being renovated and looks like it will be very nice when it is done. They still let you hit balls, they are just installing some great turf for the back area to help reduce wear, I would guess.
Fairways and tees were in good shape, a bit wet maybe, but this time of year it is nice to see. The greens were exceptional, soft, but firm enough to provide a great putting experience. Not super fast, 10ish or so...but just a solid, true roll and if you are decent, you are hitting some wedges that back up.
Food at the turn was good and the beverage cart attendant was pleasant. We saw her a bunch of times, even though she was covering all 27 holes.
I have nothing negative to say about the experience, except that the course is almost an hour from my house, so not an option for me all that often. But I hope to make it a monthly thing!
Kudos to the staff and grounds crew, great job in a tough time of year!
One of the Best in AZ
Subjectively I believe this course has more water on it than any other course in the state. My first time playing I had 7 penalty shots and still shot an 86. Had I played more conservatively it may have been lower. I would recommend this course to people who love a great track and want a challenge. For those beginners out there, take a lot of extra balls and have fun, it's a beautiful course.
Always great
Course will challenge you with accuracy , however plenty of holes that are less challenging to make it fun. Always in great shape. Great views of lakes and fowls. They have eliminated some of the extra birds , so less poop on and around greens. michelsons management group has taken it over. No more free driving range balls
Ocotillo
Lots of water but if your in the fairway no problem. conditions great!
Decent Round
Bit of a mixed review as I do enjoy the course and the staff however be prepared for a slower than average pace. Staff are friendly and helpful but this is offset by the pace of play. I do enjoy the course but am not certain i would play again unless I was one of the first t times off in the morning ensuring I wouldn't have to contend with the pace of play.
Service personnel all on ear pieces, didn't acknowledge my presence as they were more connected to golf shop. Had to wait when I came with my bag and no one else around. Otherwise everything was great.
Great track
Course was in great shape. Fairways were lush, greens rolled true. Course is scoreable, but you can get in trouble fast with hazards and tiered greens
Challenging round
Course was very challenging fairways and greens in good shape.
Seemed like water on every hole
Sand traps could’ve used more sand but might have just been wet from morning sprinkling. Tee time was 6:45 am. Will play again!
a fun track
Enjoyed my round. played with 3 people who knew the layout of the course very well. That was a big help, having someone guide. Course was in excellent shape. We were scheduled to play the gold course, but they opened up the blue course which is good, because it was starting to back up. will definitely go back again.
Looks are deceiving
Don't let the water you see in pictures scare you. The water doesn't come into play all that much and it is a fairly easy course with a pretty simple layout.
Course was in pretty good condition when we played. Fairways and greens were in good shape. However, some of the tees were pretty rough and the bunkers were in bad shape. The bunkers I found had little sand what were full of rocks.
Nice layout, fairways and greens were in very good shape. Time of play was too long (Friday, Apr 27, 2018)

Enjoyable
The course was in good condition. I played with a member which was a real benefit as he provided me with some good course tips. There were 150 yard markers but it would also have been nice to have additional yardage markers. I had lunch in the restaurant and the food was good.
