Desert Canyon Golf Club

We had a great time playing at Desert Canyon today despite the course conditions being partially in renovation (some Tee boxes and bunkers). Greens were in good conditions but fairways were still in transition with lawn laking density and consistency at times.

Will play again

This course is tough but such a blast! Pace was a little slow

Enjoyed the day, but the course was dry and grass sparse in some areas. Greens dry and not as good as they should be. The repairs to the traps lessened the course value. My cart was not very good, I should have changed it after the first nine. Staff and cart fellows were great. I like the course and will return, hopefully to better conditions. Don’t mis read my somewhat negative comments, I enjoyed the day.

This is one of our favorite vacation golf stops. Course is beautiful, staff is very friendly and the clubhouse bar is great for a cold drink following your round.

We had a 12:03 tee time and when we arrived were told there was an outing and they were running about 45 minutes behind. Once we finally teed off pace of play was extremely slow. Took almost 5 hours. Went to restaurant because the food is pretty good but the service is always terrible! It took forever. When making an afternoon tee time make sure there isnt an outing ahead of you.

Course was dry other then tee box. Putting surface was like ice. Sanded greens so approach shot would not stick. Website did not mention these conditions. Over priced for course conditions.

Let me start with the boring stuff. The amenities were average. The clubhouse offers a pro shop, restaurant, etc. but nothing special. Practice area is minimal with a small driving range (irons only), thin grass and a small chipping area.

Now for the goods! The layout is a total gem, discreetly meandering through a nice neighborhood. You never feel crowder by houses. It has some of the best elevation changes I have seen this close to Phoenix. This creates some unique, if not tricked up, holes and all the challenges that go with them.

The condition was solid. There is plenty of grass from tee to green. One negative was the sand on the greens. However, I played with course regulars and they assured me this was unusual and that the greens are generally very nice.

All-in-all a great course that I would recommend playing!
