About
Located a short distance from Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix and Arizona State University, Kokopelli Golf Course is a championship length course that offers many interesting challenges. The rolling terrain creates sloping greens and undulating fairways. A majority of the teeboxes and greens are elevated as well. The course also has large multiple island tees and water hazards in the form of meandering lakes that come into play on several holes. The signature hole of Kokopelli Golf Course is the par-5 18th hole. The dramatic finishing hole calls for a shot off an elevated too followed by an approach shot past water to an elevated green.

Bug spray ( mosquitoes)
The course was good has a few spots that had mud or standing water causing muddy conditions. Also make sure you bring bug spray Off due to mosquitoes being present. Other than that you would had thunk they would have built bathrooms by now instead of the Porta- potties still being present here. Course is a nice layout and challenging as well.
Terrible Experience
Brutal course conditions, understandable that summer is off season for golf but there is really no excuse for how poorly maintained this course is. Less than 50% of tee boxes mowed, grass clippings in huge piles, unless you play ball out of bounds very hard to find in left overs and extremely high grass of fringe. Tons of chewed up golf balls and trash all over course, sprinklers randomly turn on while playing, we didn’t even finish our front 9 was so frustrating looking ofor balls hit in middle of fairway and just disappearing. It was the worst course, hands down that I have ever golfed!
Water everywhere
Course was in pretty poor shape. Standing water everywhere. Mud everywhere. Mosquito infested.

Great value
Had another great experience here, course is very well maintained and very friendly staff. Honestly a great bang for the buck. The pace was a bit slow but as we were in no hurry. It was not an issue. Will certainly go back.

Under Performed
The greens were looking the best and evenly cut, but the slowest greens ever. So many places that should have been cut, but just too many places were over 8 inches that was in ball loosing territory.

Need new management
Booked an early morning tee time, 5:45 and no one showed up to course till 6:45: letting guys off back 9 with breakfast and then never opened front for 18 holes. Told to play 2 rounds of back nine even though they double booked everyone! Course maintenance crews are upset at Managment and say they always show up late! Course was in very bad shape and greens had not been cut in weeks! Avoid this course at all costs, even discounted rate is not worth it!

Summer golf
While $40 is cheap to pay 18 holes, the value wasn’t there. They didn’t let me know the front 9 was closed until we got to course. The greens had been aerated which was unknown and made for impossible putting. The grass was tall even on some fairways. The standing water from overwatering impacted play as well.

A little pricey
The course was thirsty but the greens were receptive , it was about average for Arizona this time of year . The price is a little steep for this coarse but I had a fun round!

Great Staff - Terrible course condition
What a shame. Great location, great staff, but clearly have let the place go with little to no upkeep. Hitting out of the dirt in the middle of the fairway or feeling like you’re in the first cut of rough in the middle of the fairway is no fun. Tee boxes are in rough shape. All around just seemed as if no o e cared about the grounds.
Not sure it’s worth the 30.00 green fee unfortunately. Staff was so friendly and smiles all around. Just poor conditions.

Disappointing
Has potential to be okay, but course is in bad shape. Lots of hills, poor grass conditions, tons of dirt and clay, no hole layout signs the holes so hard to tell where the pins are, much too expensive for quality of the course.

What are they doing ?
Played today like I do once a week, but today may be the last ! First Front 9 is closed due to something irrigation. So had to pay back 9 Twice. Which would be fine but this is what I got ! 10 sprinklers are all on 175 and in. Lost a ball in the newly man made swamp since I am assuming the water has been on for hours . 11 No tee box. Sprinklers are on and you have to drive through them to even get to hole 12 which is closed. Rest of the course was okay. Middle fairways where soaked and greens super hard and blah. Sound never had been $32 to play this. This place could be a solid AZ course but the staff that run it don’t care enough.

Hole closures
Played this course twice in the last month or so and both times there were at least 1 hole closed. Never seen a course close holes before in all my years playing. Wouldn’t have been a big deal if there weren’t so many teens messing around playing 4-5 balls. Had to skip more holes due to this as there was no ranger. Course needs more watering but that’s how it’s been for years so wasn’t expecting anything different.

More than a couple holes were cart path only, it is July!!! Cart path only on par 4/5 is not a thing in the summer. greens were half dead and punched. Hole 7 was under maintenance and had to skip the hole… nothing was reported out. Used to love this course but will not go back.
