Falcon Golf Club
About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business. The land was redeveloped to
an industrial/warehouse area.
Located near the Estrella and White Tank Mountains, the Falcon Golf Club is an affordable, user-friendly course with an interesting layout. The front nine has a target-style layout with a desert landscape while the back nine has a more traditional design. The greens are medium-sized with a subtle break and the fairways are wide open. Water hazards come into play on two holes and there are numerous bunkers as well, especially on the back nine. The signature hole of the golf course is the par-3, fifth hole. This notable hole has water to the right of the green and bunkers on the front right and left. With its location just south of Luke Air Force Base, fighter jets are regularly seen flying over Falcon Golf Club.

interesting bunkering makes this course better than run of the mill
course in good maintained condition.enjoyed the layout
Great price.
This course is great for the price you pay to play. I recommend this course to anyone. I play this course more than 15 times throughout the year (winter and summer).
The course was great.
For the amount of money the course is challenging and was in good shape. T he greens were in great shape. Sand traps had good sand. The pace was very good. Would highly recommend this course.
Always a fun track
This is a great track though it could us some attention.
Good for early season challenge, course in relatively nice shape for this time of year.
A nice day of golf, a little slow. Course is in pretty good shape and putting was fair. These greens will hold a ball unlike so many others in the area. A plus of entertainment by the jets taking off if you are fond of planes. A lot of noise but not constant. Always meet nice people in the foursome. Wish it could have been closer to 4 hour round.
Plays long! Bring your "A" game to score well
From the middle tees 68.4 rating and 120 slope. Plays harder. 4-500+ yard par 5's, 3-400+ yard par 4"s, 2-200+ yard par 3's. Good fairways for early winter. Greens are very good and fast with lots of contours. Need to keep in the fairways for the best chance to score, anywhere else is desert. Only negative is material in the bunkers is mostly dirt. But, lots of bunkers and well placed to demand shotmaking. Use of GPS will help in avoiding hazards and bunkers. Overall very nice layout and will play again.
Could've done worse for $24...
Course is coming back nicely; just like most everything out west right now the greens are coming back but are shaggy, get it to the hole (telling myself all day). I only played there one or two times before and I enjoyed it a lot more this round. Although it's not a very difficult course; however, the setup and the length of some of the holes can make those holes challenging.
Being an average course, the only real negatives are that it may attract high handicap golfers therefor move a little slowly and they do not fix their ball marks!!! Some greens are peppered with ball marks.
A great couse for all skill levels.
This was a fun course to play while the F-16's were landing and taking off at Luke AFB. The par 3's were tough. There are numerous fairway bunkers but, the sand was packed down and scarce. Enjoyed the experience.
Good layout with a nice mix of risk and reward.
I was pleasantly surprised by this course. It is kept in good condition. The layout is solid, and a fair challenge. There are about 80 well placed bunkers on the course. My only negative to that is the fact that many of them are dirt and therefore more like soft mud. The greens roll nicely. They are fairly consistant with the speed and hold a shot well. Overall, it was a great value, because the greens fees are pretty low.
great course for money
good course it is both easy and challening this course fits all players skill levels
This course is challenging enough to work on you game before you playing a tougher course.
On the condition of the course, from the tee box to the greens were good, but the desert areas need to be cleaned up. It is hard to find your ball if you hit an errant shot.
Great layout, great course greens.
I always enjoy playing Falcon Gold Course. It is not too short and not too long for the mid-handicapper.
Good course to play. Great value.
This course is always fun to play with the par 3s always a challenge as 2 are around 200 yards with water in play. If you play on the right days you will also get a free air show from the Air Forse base next door.
great value golf course.
The course is in good shape for this time of the year. Great value compared to other courses in the area. Some attention needs to be paid to the sand traps as they don't appear to have been "professionally raked" in awhile. Love the sounds of Freedom as the jets take off from the airbase next to some of the fairways.
Rolling to flat course
FairwAYS and geens were in very good condition. Greens were fast but fair.
a nice long course.
Had a lot of fun and the course was in great shape.
worth the effort
long and open.....traps need sand......otherwise well maintained
enjoyable experience
Still recovering from overseed
The course is still a little wet with thick soft fairways. The greens are soft but not rolling bad, maybe about a 9 to 9.5 on the stimp meter. I would expect the course to be back to it's normal fast fairways in a couple of weeks.
Inconsistant
This is one of those Phoenix area courses that can play absolutely pristine one day, and then absolutely rough another. I've played it both ways. One day, it's a lush, green paradise. Another day, it's a brown desert wasteland.
That said, I do love the layout of the course. And when it's green and lush, it ranks up there with some of the best I've played in the Phoenix area. My only real complaint is that there are a lot of ambient sounds coming from adjacent properties. It is right next to the air force base, so a weekday outing may be accompanied by incessant sounds of aircraft taking off and landing. And it is also next to a recreational race area, so a weekend outing might be accompanied by the sound of motor vehicles revving and accelerating.
Nice small local course desert edges green fairways.
small local course with maintained areas of play desert areas bleak but one can find a lost ball easily. Staff is friendly and the course is fun to play.
