Falcon Golf Club
About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business. The land was redeveloped to
an industrial/warehouse area.
Located near the Estrella and White Tank Mountains, the Falcon Golf Club is an affordable, user-friendly course with an interesting layout. The front nine has a target-style layout with a desert landscape while the back nine has a more traditional design. The greens are medium-sized with a subtle break and the fairways are wide open. Water hazards come into play on two holes and there are numerous bunkers as well, especially on the back nine. The signature hole of the golf course is the par-3, fifth hole. This notable hole has water to the right of the green and bunkers on the front right and left. With its location just south of Luke Air Force Base, fighter jets are regularly seen flying over Falcon Golf Club.

Nice target golf course at a fair price
The greens were the best I have played on in the last few weeks. Fairways were in good shape. Bunkers were in need of attention. Yardage makers are very basic, color coded at (250 to 100) in center of fairway. Carts need attention. Be aware that the noise level is LOUD, ( F-16's) if you are looking for solitude this is not the place for you. I personally enjoy the noise and the show.
Has potential, but...
The bunkers were unplayable. I agree with a previous review, overall the course has a lot of potential but there are several issues which prevent it from becoming a nice course. Considering the issues at hand and the price to play, one would have to admit "you get what you pay for".
Cheap golf but you get what you pay for. Just a place to work on your swing & watch the jets zip by.
Post overseed round. Most of the course was just OK. Sand (sic) traps are beyond bad. Do they sell sand in Arizona? How about some yardage markers on sprinkler heads? Worth $25 to get some swings in but don't expect much more.
Falcon Golf Club; waste of time
This "golf course" is an embarassment to the game. The staff were rude and uncaring. The "restaurant" was non-existent. The conditions were deplorable. The bunkers were unplayable, overseed grass was growing in the bunkers, they were not kept up, unraked, unmanaged and in some cases, no sand at all...
The GASOLINE golf carts were in horrible mechanical condition...EVERY one of them had a slipping starting belt that squeeked and squeeled at each start, very unnerving and annoying... The cart paths were, at some places, undrivable...
Overall, this was the worst golf experience I've had in many years. I would NEVER again play nor recommend this "track" to anyone. I would suggest that GolfNow remove this facility from its data bank, do not recommend it to anyone and contact them with this information.
Fun and challenging course - and a great value
Our group found Falcon Golf Course to be an excellent value and fun track. The course layout, tee placements, and hazards afford a nice challenge for all. The staff was friendly and helpful, service was attentive and the overseeding had brought nice recovery to the course. Our only criticisms would be the bunkering was in need of work, and the greens were a little shaggy. While it was possible to play a shot from the bunkers we were in, the sand was compacted and several of the bunkers had grass growing from the over-seeding. Likewise, the greens were still being protected of their re-seed and should be ready in a few weeks. We all understand these are things we will encounter this time of year throughout the Valley. All-in-all, we had a good time and enjoyed the course - and the price through Golfnow.com was amazing.
Great price for nice course
Course was good shape. The only bad thing was that the chipping green and driving range was closed. The greens were hairy - slow alot of ball marks on the greens - players are not repairing ball marks. Great course for the money.
love to play this course.they need a ranger to keep slow players moving. We had to move to the back 9 holes to keep the flow of play moving
the course is in good shape, and played well. it's early in the the fall season so i understand the grass being longer. the greens were slow do to the lenght of the grass.
West valley value
Of course it id difficult to rate a course just prior to overseed but this is still a playable tract and a great value for the cost.
basic golf, I think about $6 with cart
We played right after overseed, so greens were super slow. The fairways were ok but the rough & bunkers were almost unplayable.
Great course for a Great Price!!!
We always enjoy this course. The location is awsome, desert landscape and the sound and sights of the fighter jets. Great time!!!!
Falcon is pound for pound one of the best courses around. Super friendly staff, no frills clubhouse, but a great, well maintained course .
Pound for pound, Falcon is a great course great price, great people.
Nice course, no cart path?!?!
Course is nice...awesome view of Luke Air Force Base and all the F-16's...but the course could use a real, paved cart path.
Nice course. Very Green. TOO MANY SPRINKLERS!
Great course. Great staff. Very green. Only one problem...dodging sprinklers on EVERY single hole. Now I know it's that time of the year, but with the carts driving on the wet gas it can't be good. Although it was amusing to see golfers get nailed by sprinklers. I myself almost did.
I would def. go again. Nice place.
woud never play here again
Woud never play there again, only time I ever wanted to stop playing, I wouldn't play there for free
Challenging
Good value for the money.
Nice pace of play. I enjoyed the course.
After the over seeding in good shape.
The driving range will be open again next week.
A finely laid-out course and fair challenge to average mid- to high-handicap golfer.
Other than the greens were unplayably long due to just coming out of overseeding, the most disconcerting thing with our round was --- underground sprinklers running haphazardly ALL over the course. They would stop and start elsewhere on the hole being played --- dousing players and carts/clubs many times. COULD/should have been managed to accomodate paying customers.
Great Staff.
The course was in better shape than I expected due to it being over seeded just last week. The greens were sand dressed and were well taken care of. Had to dodge some sprinklers. Over all I was happy with the value.
Overseeding 10/19/2012
I've played overseeded courses before and tried not to let it colour my opinion, but I simply wasn't impressed with the course as a whole. Falcon has some interesting and challenging greenside bunker design, but every hole seemed more or less the same. I feel like I just played the same 450 yd par 4 for 18 holes. There is also little room for error off the tee with often less than 15 yds of rough before scrub and hard pan that allows even narrowly missed shots to disappear into the desert without a trace. Little to no elevation change or water. Old gas powered carts. Unimpressive cart path design. Even at a bargain basement price, in this kind of market, one expects a little more.
AWESOME COURSE, AWESOME STAFF, AWESOME VIEWS
In spite of the course prepped for over seeding the 4 of us had a great time.
