The sun shines 350 days a year in Phoenix and you can enjoy this factor at Ahwatukee Country Club. "Ahwatukee" is Crow Indian for "house of dreams", but this could easily be the "golf course of dreams".
The semi-private Ahwatukee Country Club offers an 18-hole golf course designed by John Bulla in 1974 that is open year-round and includes a driving range, as well as a cart included in the greens fee. The golf course is par-72 and measures 6,713 yards from the championship tees.
The Ahwatukee Country Club golf course features a fairly wide-open layout, but has out-of-bounds areas on either side of the fairways - including some with houses, so watch out for those windows - as well as water hazards on some holes. The putting greens play fast.
After a tight front nine on the Ahwatukee Country Club golf course, things open up on a razor-sharp par-4 dogleg 10th hole, with no chance to cut corners: there's a towering forest to the left.

Weeds, dirt and slow play
I play golf 3 times a week. This course I will not go back to. Yes it was a "good deal" money wise, but the course conditions were very poor. The fairways have a lot of weeds and dirt. The greens had large spots with no grass. I get it's summer conditions, but this is the worst summer condition I have seen in the Phoenix area. Seriously, please close down this course or fix it up.

The course needs work
Great layout but the tee boxes aren’t the best and the fairways are bad. There were multiple occasions where a great shot down the fairway would result in a terrible lie and that made playing way less enjoyable. Being penalized for a great shot is not fun.

This course has gone downhill
I’ve been playing this course for over a year. The quality of the course has been poor for most of that time. The bunkers have never been good. It’s like hitting off of the cart path. The fairways have been pretty bad for over a year, even after the over seeding period, it’s like no improvement was made. Tee boxes are always either barren or muddy. The greens were under repair for most of the winter/spring. Now it’s summer and they’re no longer under repair, just dry. The only thing that kept me coming back was the great Gold Card membership the offered. Now, this year, they’ve changed the membership offer and removed all value. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, but the course has just slipped too far.

Less and less of a value
This course still has great staff, in the clubhouse and out, but they have really let the conditions of the course itself go down the tubes. Most fairways have huge brown, dried-out dirt patches on them from tee to green. The traps appear to have been left un-groomed all summer. The real kicker, though, is their Gold Card program, which gives members a couple of dollars off greens fees. Last year, a $129 annual renewal included a $100 gift card, a free round, and a golf cap. This year? Just a free round. So renewing your Gold Card costs you over $100 more than it did last year. Wow. I sure do feel valued as a repeat customer.

100plus heat midday
pace of play wasnt an issue, it was the heat. but was maing solid contact so didnt mind much, plus i think due to the heat there were only a handful of other golfers on the course. i do play here often as its closet to my residence, staff always nice and the course like others has its days but pretty decent place to get in a quick nine if need be.
Bad shape even for summer
Fairway grass is practically non existent on most holes. Greens are maybe OK. Price is cheap. $35 with a cart on Saturday morning. Was just looking to work on a few things with my game so it serves its purpose. Hopefully when the weather cools down they will get it back into better shape.

Unlike the picture on Golf Pass, this course is in horrible shape and continues to get worse. I have lived in Ahwatukee for over 30 years and used to enjoy playing the Country Club. Now it is the worst golf experience in the Valley. Simple due diligence to edging, cleaning up brush, maintaining traps properly, getting the greens back to where they used to be, would be less-expensive improvements.

Course Conditions
There has been work over the last year to improve the course, after at least a 10 year gap of doing anything. Improvements include tee yardage markers and benches. There is still a lot to do to make this course saleable as is the plan. They tried to fix the practice green but now its been dug up and just sits there with a mound of dirt and nothing done. It's a real disappointment to the area from what it was back in the 80s.

Crabby Cart attendant ruins start of day
The old guy that gives the carts out is an jerk, crabby, and starts everyones day out bad. Treats you like a second class citizen. Acts as if you are using HIS golf carts. God forbid if you sit in one or put your clubs on one before he checks your passport, birth certificate, and oh yeah your receipt before your butt can touch the seat. Too bad. EVERYTIME I PLAY THERE, THE CART COP RUINS THE DAY. I would play there more if he were not there.

Out of town visit
When I visit, I like to play here. Great value. Don’t let the shorter holes deceive you…what this course lacks in distance makes up for in undulating fairways that force all golfers to hit their spots or pay the price. I’d like to see better rough conditions and fairways can be a little spotty, but greens seem well maintained. It is worth the money and the staff is great. Fun muni course for low and high handicappers.
