The sun shines 350 days a year in Phoenix and you can enjoy this factor at Ahwatukee Country Club. "Ahwatukee" is Crow Indian for "house of dreams", but this could easily be the "golf course of dreams".
The semi-private Ahwatukee Country Club offers an 18-hole golf course designed by John Bulla in 1974 that is open year-round and includes a driving range, as well as a cart included in the greens fee. The golf course is par-72 and measures 6,713 yards from the championship tees.
The Ahwatukee Country Club golf course features a fairly wide-open layout, but has out-of-bounds areas on either side of the fairways - including some with houses, so watch out for those windows - as well as water hazards on some holes. The putting greens play fast.
After a tight front nine on the Ahwatukee Country Club golf course, things open up on a razor-sharp par-4 dogleg 10th hole, with no chance to cut corners: there's a towering forest to the left.

Course Conditions Need Improvement
The course conditions today were rough. The tee boxes and greens were bare and uneven. One of the greens was under repair with large patches of uncut grass in the middle of the green - they did not notify us of this prior to our round starting. Pace of play was slow on the front 9, we were waiting about 5-10 minutes to hit. I think a Marshall intervened because it was better on the back 9. I won’t be back here for a while. Hopefully it improves.
Course overall in terrible condition. Overpriced because of that reason

upkeep needed
Greens were pretty good but a little inconsistent.
Parts of many fairways had bare spots. Off the fairways was mostly dirt. The practice green was almost not usable.
The layout of the course was pretty good.
With an investment to fill in the bare spots and over seed the fairways, there would be a big improvement.

Course must have funding problems. Maintenance so far behind it will take a rebuild to make this a decent course.

Not very well kept
Sure would be nice to have a quality course in Ahwatukee. This course is falling apart!

TLC needed
Fairway grass not consistent and needs better water patterns. Greens need replaced with even grsss growth. Concrete cart paths need work.

clearing house for personnel, implying continuous change of employees. adjacent areas to playing areas are deplorable. way overpriced!

Not worth the tee time
Course conditions were the worst I’ve ever seen in any golf course I’ve played at.

Happy disappointment
It has a decent layout. One third of the greens were unacceptable with plugs in a number of places. The rough was mostly dirt and no grass. I made the turn shooting 40 from the whites. The back nine was good to me with a pitch in eagle and a birdie. I ended the round by shooting my age - 75. Fix the greens, roughs and bunkers and I’ll be back.

Slow round
Started off almost 30 min late because a frost alert?? The round was 5 hours and 30 minutes and extremely slow and no ranger around to push along. The practice putting green was in awful shape and i believe the 15th hole had major issues with a green and large spotty chunks of fresh sod on it.

This course is not a supporter of GolfNow
My cost was supposed to be sixty-two dollars plus tax. They charged sixty-eight plus tax. I said GolfNow told me a different price and the staff said GolfNow is a rip-off.

Everything was too slow….
There was some confusion on the first tee box that got us going 15 minutes late. At the turn, I went into the clubhouse to get a six-pack and waited 20 minutes before leaving with nothing. One staff person behind the bar looked at me and didn’t acknowledge me and she walked out the door. One of the customers sitting at the bar told the bartender that I had been waiting awhile. She said she would be right with me….10 minutes later, I left. The course is fun to play on and has some good challenges.

Greens & traps need work
Tee boxes are crowned. Traps need deeper sand. The greens are inconsistent & in below average shape. False front of #4 should be allowed to grow. A ball landing on front of green should not roll back into water.
The clubhouse opening on time is inconsistent.
Interaction with employees is pleasant & usually productive.
