Being refurbished
They have just begun to re-establish this corse that has been fallow for a few years. It’s pretty rough but playable. No building for pro shop, washrooms or snacks. Bring your own snacks & beverages. Checkin is a table beside the parking lot. Washrooms are go huts.
Greens have been fertilized but are not smooth yet. Fairways were actually pretty good, Lots of bunkers with fresh sand. Price was inexpensive.
If they keep at it, this could be a very good course.
Can’t beat the price
This course is pretty rough, but for in season golf in AZ, the price was unbeatable. This was my first time playing here but I know it closed and fell into a state of disrepair for several years. The “club house” is a small trailer, the only restrooms are port-o-potties and there is no food or beverage service. It’s playable but the greens and fairways are far from ideal. Beautiful views of South Mountain. All in all a good value and I am already booked to play again in a couple of days.
Save your money
The fact that they charge $40 for green fees is ludacris. This course if you want to call it that is so run down and not maintained. You check in at a trailer that is sitting in a lot. I have played better 9 hole courses. Do not waste your time or money and go with another golf course.
Once is enough
The fairways and greens were in decent shape, but the lack of staff, customer service, facilities, beverage cart, golf carts, or even a restroom was enough for me to look elsewhere next time. I prefer an overall experience that you would be proud to invite your out of town friends and family to. I’m glad I tried it out myself first. Probably won’t come back until they at least have a clubhouse and decent facilities.
Bang for Buck
I honestly don’t want to leave a review because I don’t want this course to become more popular or expensive. But this course is the most bang for your buck and a great course!!! Take Continental in Scottsdale for $75 and that…is not worth it!! This has no country club, no cart girl, but has a range, putting green, a guy outside a lil bunker, and that’s it. But the course is in great shape, actually challenging (Continental is straight ahead with little hazards), has a bunch of sand (actual sand too!), water on like 16 holes. I’d bet you $$ you will score your worst score on a par 60 because this is challenging. Plays like a real tricky 72 course but is a 60. Pay $40 for really any time you want and be amazed. If you don’t give a…about a club, fancy bathrooms, cart girl,… this is it!! $40 vs Pv @$55 and continental @ $75. Id day 10x better than PV and 5x Continental. Okay this course and I dare you to say there is a better deal. Best 60 you will play and is $40 for 18!!!!
This course is a work in progress
Played this course over 10 years ago and then was closed for many years.
First time golfing since pandemic. It is very obvious that much effort is being made to improve this course and that it is in need of much tender loving care. It is also very apparent that efforts are being made to do just that and it can definitely not happen over night. We will definitely return this year and look forward to returning in 2024 to see the upgrades that should be completed.
Fun layout.
Good to see course operational again. Bunkers are in need of regular maintenance. Greens cup cutter is in dire need of sharpening. Nice mixture of Par 4's & Par 3's for Par 60 total.
Not worth it
18 holes par 60. Not worth it! Horrible condition. Green really rough and fairways like hitting off concrete.
It is what it is
Ahwatukee Lakes is a par 3 course. I was a little surprised when I pulled up to this course and didn't see a pro shop. I was met by a young man in a golf cart. I purchased a large bucket of balls and proceeded to the range. The range does have grass to hit off but it is just patches of grass. The flags / targets were bunched together. Using my range finder there were 3 targets within 104 yards. My round started a few minutes before my scheduled tee time. I was playing solo. I completed the front 9 in 64 minutes. The back 9 was a slower. I had a husband and wife and another twosome ahead of me. The husband and wife team refused to let me play through. So the back 9 took about 2.5 hours to play. But overall I played the round in 3.5 hours. Had I been allowed to play through I'm sure I could have played in under 3 hours. The tee boxes, fairways, greens and bunkers were in good shape. Not having a pro shop with bathrooms and offering beverages and food is why I gave this course only 3 stars. Hopefully there are plans to add pro shop. If so I can see playing this course on a regular basis.
