Foothills Golf Club offers 18 holes of golf on a golf course designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf and built in 1988. The par-72 golf course measures 6,901 yards. Foothills Golf Club sits among the South Mountains, and features a contrast of challenge and forgiveness on a links-style course that allows golfers to play a target layout that has more than 65 bunkers that daunt, fairways that roll and desert that has a lot of rocks. The fabulous championship golf course provides the locale for all levels of golfer to shoot a memorable day of golf.
After taking in the views of the South Mountains on the Foothills Golf Club's golf course, head back to the clubhouse, for wonderful vistas of the course and the Estrella Mountain Range.

Good course, BUT….
I understand the course just reopened, generally in great shape, couple of the greens were iffy but all in all a challenging and fun layout with good risk reward holes. Good elevations, fairways in good shape, bunkers good and lots of opportunities to enter them!
The one problem, and it is a big one, rude threatening doper/drunks in front of us and no marshal to control the situation. 2 guys skip by 3 groups to join their inebriated pals, they took their time, oblivious to the line up behind them. 4 groups gave up and went home. We finished in the dark, had to wait on every hole. It makes one question whether or not to return, there are too many golf courses where you don’t have this type of experience. Too bad, they need more control over pace of play and aggressive drunks.

Not Yet Ready for Prime Time
Realizing that this course was closed for 5 months for some major maintenance work, I did not recognize much improvement. The most onerous/egregious issue were the greens: mottled, blotchy coloring, dead areas, grass clippings strewn about, with inconsistent slow pace. Many tee boxes were uncut and uneven. Fairways were thin in places and damp, restricting ball roll. The rough was extremely tall, making it very difficult to make clean contact with the ball. Sand traps were crusty (at best), with some only having a thin layer of sand as top dressing. Edges of these traps lacked maintenance. Pace of play was good. Unfortunately, value for money was not. Several more weeks and much concerted effort will be needed for this course to be reflective of its true potential.

Fresh course reopens
Lucky the weather was nice as we sat waiting to play. First 9 took 2 1/2 hours starting at noon.
A number of greens are still growing in after the rebuild this summer. Fairways were in good shape and the course is looking good although not much different after being closed for remodel after 5 months.

Good course
The condition of the course was a bit disappointing, as the course had been closed for five months for supposed renovations. It didn’t seem like anything was improved.

The course was extremely dry and the greens were rock hard. If we would have known that the course conditions were that bad we would not have played there.
After our round we were advised that the course would be closing in the following week for a major renovation.
They should have been charging under 35 for the round knowing that the course conditions were less than average.
Bad timing.
Apparently there are renovations happening and we booked our tee time not knowing this. I’m sure the course when finished will be nice but the course as of 5/9/2024 was in horrible shape. Greens were really bad but I hope the finished product is better.

The course was in good shape except for the fact that the practice and the greens on the course were not nearly the same in regard to speed. I can give the course a pass considering they are getting ready to a major overhaul of the course. I look forward to see how the course will look in the future.
Poor condition
The greens are in awful condition,; baked mud with the merest hint of grass and weed on the surface. This made them very quick, and with the slopes, downhill putts had to be hit very gently with the result that the ball would change direction with almost every roll. Apparently they will be replaced in a couple of weeks. However, the rest of the course is also in patchy condition. so still wont be great.
To make matters worse, members don't repair pitch marks or rake bunkers and you cannot repair divots because no sand on the cart.
Much better courses available in the area for a lower price, so avoid this one.
Be aware before booking!
They are about to close the course for several months for renovations.
The greens are as fast as if you’re putting on glass and are burned to a crisp (apparently part of the Reno plan)
With that, they are discounting rates, even from what is advertised here because of the greens/conditions. The fairways are in really good shape, so if you are just wanting to get out and slap the ball around and don’t mind fighting the greens, it’s great. Wish I would have known before recommending to friends for their only round while in town.

The course was in fantastic shape other than the bunkers (dirt filled). Heard money was recently put into the development & soon to be more invested. Will definitely play again & if lived in the area, would be a very frequent patron. The layout was awesome & very good on the eye. All of the staff I encountered were friendly & welcoming. Much appreciated!!
