Friendly place to play
Everything was great about the course except the greens were slow!
Don't close the range in the middle of the day
Don't close the range in the middle of the day just so your ball picker doesn't have to work after 5.
I had a 1:18 tee time and the range was closed for picking.
I know the range has to be picked clean for mowing but that doesn't require closing the range at noon the day before.
Pick it the evening before and cut it first thing the next morning. Apparently Foothills thinks this is good management twice a week.
Tee time
Booked a tee time with GN but when I got to course they changed tee time. They blamed it on GN. Not sure who is at fault
Beautiful mountain view course!
Nice course and beautiful fairways ! Genrally well kept but they can do better job on and off greens. Greens look nice but very slow and does not roll true sometimes. Lots of no grass aroud fringes and second cut where ball end up settles in can get annoying. But all in all, this is one the best pulic courses in Metro Pheonix area. Highly recommanded !
MB
Staff were not as accommodating as you would expect. Course was in good shape.
Improvements
I can’t believe how nice most of the course is now that there is a new owner. I’ve never seen this course with so much green grass. Now they need to work on the back nine and put some sand in the bunkers. I know this all take times and I’m impressed with the improvements that have been made so far. Keep it up!’
Not deserving of.the troon name
Thought we'd found a troon quality course at a reasonable cost but foothills just confirmed the belief that in the phoenix area you get what you pay for. Course very poorly groomed outside of decent fairways, greens slow with many unfixed ball marks and many unattractive weedy areas around the course. This course has a promising layout but needs a lot of grooming and tlc.
Super slow greens, not enjoyable
Not sure why the greens weren’t cut, takes some effort, time and labor cost to care for the course and present it properly . You could tell things have been neglected needs some attention so it returns to past glory.
Could only hit off the mats on driving range? Grass was there but was told “mats only” no reason stated.
Poor bunkers, with compacted or no sand at the +$110 cost isn’t acceptable anywhere, so why these conditions?
Overall enjoyed the day!
Not typical For Phoenix
We felt the fairways needed mowing. Everything nice and green but grass was heavy and limited roll. Greens also played heavy and alot of divot damage to where ball jumped. Carts were not very clean and seemed old and worn. No GPS also, and limited amenities on the course. No ball washers. These are all things that should be expected in Phoenix golf.
Improved under new ownership!
This course has struggled in the past, but greatly improved under the new ownership. Looking forward to playing it after they close for the summer upgrades.
Overpriced for conditions. Greens had been punched recently. No GPS on carts and only 150 yard markers. Played Encanto earlier in the week. Preferred it.
Nice Course Good Rate
Played this in mid February because of the rate about 30 minutes drive from where we were staying in Scottsdale. Was pleasantly surprised the conditions were great.
Hairy greens
Course layout is nice but fairways are narrow and require accuracy or hard pan will kill you. Must have forgotten to mow greens, slowest I have played in YEARS, and the one that was mowed, hole 18, appears to have been mowed by a beginner - ridges left with each pass….
Amazing conditions fairways and greens
I haven played their since last summer. I was just overwhelmed with how nice the course was and greens fast pure. I will definitely be back next week. I is worth the 40 min drive. Anyone who loves golf needs to go play Foothills now.
Tees and greens weird but overall nice
The tee boxes were pretty uneven and shaggy, so you have to find a good spot. Also, the greens were very slow, but they rolled true, so once you get used to it, it’s no problem. The fairways were all nice. The layout was pretty boring but that’s fine. I played for $90 on a Thursday afternoon and thought it was definitely worth that (relative to other AZ courses this time of year).
