Foothills Golf Club offers 18 holes of golf on a golf course designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf and built in 1988. The par-72 golf course measures 6,901 yards. Foothills Golf Club sits among the South Mountains, and features a contrast of challenge and forgiveness on a links-style course that allows golfers to play a target layout that has more than 65 bunkers that daunt, fairways that roll and desert that has a lot of rocks. The fabulous championship golf course provides the locale for all levels of golfer to shoot a memorable day of golf.
After taking in the views of the South Mountains on the Foothills Golf Club's golf course, head back to the clubhouse, for wonderful vistas of the course and the Estrella Mountain Range.

Green Paint isn't a Substitute for grass.
I would have expected the green fees to reflect the condition of the greens!
Course conditions
Very surprised this is a Troon managed course. Only hole 18 looked like good playing conditions. The fairways and greens were in terrible shape on every other hole.
Hopefully better days ahead for the course
Foothills of course has recently went through a revamping since Troon took over. I’Since it’s a Troon course now I’m sure they will put the proper time, attention and money into the course to make it state of the art. Fairways and tees are in good shape. Greens have a ways to go. A few are not for whatever reason? Would recommend playing for $100 or less now through April or until conditions improve. Driving range and practice areas are tip top shape and brand new golf carts without GPS.

Terrible conditions from tee to green, especially the greens. A handful of greens have some infection that’s eaten a good portion of the green and is just dirt. No marshall pushing pace of play and finished at almost 5 hours

Still growing in
foothills was closed this summer for upgrades and has just recently opened. The fairways and a lot of the greens have grown in nicely. There were several greens with bad patches, most notably #13. The rough #14 is still growing in. Some sand traps were fluffy, some were rocky. I feel the conditions were accurately reflected in the price. I’m sure it will be getting better.

Good course, BUT….
I understand the course just reopened, generally in great shape, couple of the greens were iffy but all in all a challenging and fun layout with good risk reward holes. Good elevations, fairways in good shape, bunkers good and lots of opportunities to enter them!
The one problem, and it is a big one, rude threatening doper/drunks in front of us and no marshal to control the situation. 2 guys skip by 3 groups to join their inebriated pals, they took their time, oblivious to the line up behind them. 4 groups gave up and went home. We finished in the dark, had to wait on every hole. It makes one question whether or not to return, there are too many golf courses where you don’t have this type of experience. Too bad, they need more control over pace of play and aggressive drunks.

Not Yet Ready for Prime Time
Realizing that this course was closed for 5 months for some major maintenance work, I did not recognize much improvement. The most onerous/egregious issue were the greens: mottled, blotchy coloring, dead areas, grass clippings strewn about, with inconsistent slow pace. Many tee boxes were uncut and uneven. Fairways were thin in places and damp, restricting ball roll. The rough was extremely tall, making it very difficult to make clean contact with the ball. Sand traps were crusty (at best), with some only having a thin layer of sand as top dressing. Edges of these traps lacked maintenance. Pace of play was good. Unfortunately, value for money was not. Several more weeks and much concerted effort will be needed for this course to be reflective of its true potential.

Fresh course reopens
Lucky the weather was nice as we sat waiting to play. First 9 took 2 1/2 hours starting at noon.
A number of greens are still growing in after the rebuild this summer. Fairways were in good shape and the course is looking good although not much different after being closed for remodel after 5 months.

The course was extremely dry and the greens were rock hard. If we would have known that the course conditions were that bad we would not have played there.
After our round we were advised that the course would be closing in the following week for a major renovation.
They should have been charging under 35 for the round knowing that the course conditions were less than average.
