A July sunrise tee time at The Foothills GC in Phoenix. Photo submitted by baddfish2 on 12/21/2012
Pretty good shape. Played on a Sunday. Needed mowing, but understand.
Will return, Nice track
Nice south Phoenix course
Great layout. Greens were almost perfect. Some patchy areas on fairways. We’ll kept bunkers. Very friendly and professional staff. Club house and practice facilities were fantastic. Pace of play was a little slow. Waited on most shots. 4 1/2 hours early am on a Friday.
Foothills finally
Haven’t played here in years due to course conditions. Read a few reviews and took a chance on a hot deal. I must say not bad.. The fairways are in great shape and so are the greens which are running on the slow My only criticism no sand in the bunkers. I’ll be back.
Improving
Played this course for over 25 years, it's improving. Overseeding went well, looks like they increased the rate of seed they applied, and greens rolled well. Still no sand in bunkers and most tee boxes need leveled. Blackeye for the day was range was closed to clean pick and mow. I teed off at 12:15, a noon range closing is normal or acceptable. It does not take 5+ hours to perform this maintenance, unless you have only one (1) person performing all the tasks. Which, they had only one person doing all the work.
$15 for bucket of balls... $85 fees....prices getting ridiculous.....Az needs to do some kind of discount for locals like Hawaii and Nevada
Amazing turnaround
I live close to this course and played it a lot over the years . I’ve seen it at it worst and today I saw it at its best . Fairways great , greens amazing and staff super friendly . This is a must play for this area . Glad Troon managing it now and investing in the place . Great time today.
Nice Course
I would highly recommend playing this course?!
Greens: great shape and were very consistent.
Fairways: like hitting off carpet. They were in great shape!
Rough: extremely thick, could be mowed. In some areas there was no grass at all, hitting off dirt.
Sand Traps: very hard and needs a good raking to loosen the sand.
Staff: starter was very helpful and the guy on the range was good too. The clubhouse staff made you feel like they were glad you came today to play.
Over all the course was in good shape and looked great! Thanks for a good day!
Excellent condition.
A month after overseeding, the course should be in great condition and it was. Green and lush fairways. Smooth rolling greens, albeit a little slow. The bunkers could stand some fresh sand and raking. A very good round with good pace. Attentive cart girls and good amenities. Easy access off Pecos Freeway.
Honest Review
As previously stated by other reviewers pace of play is slow. Took me 4.75 hours. No rangers driving around to speed people up. This course is narrow and beginners should not play here. Hole 1&18 are cart path only. This makes u believe the course is in pristine condition. It is not. A lot of patchy areas especially the tee boxes. Range was off the mats which for a troon course is pathetic.
Course in excellent conditions
Course is well maintained and beautiful
Pace of play was excellent
Finished in 4 hours.
Greens on the slow side.
Course was great
Paid 95 for my round. We finished in 4 hours and the course was in awesome shape I'll be playing there again soon.
Foothills - 11/16/23
My son and I thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon round at Foothills.
The rate for pm golf was great.
Course just finished the process of over-seeding but we encountered no problems at all.
Greens rolled true but slighting slow given the seeding process above.
Fairways cut to appropriate length and we were pleased with the variety of holes throughout.
Would recommend the course.
First time for a friend at Foothills
Met a friend from Surprise to shoot Foothills on a Saturday, noon tee-time. Starter & Marshall gave suggestion as to tee-box (blue) and tip on where the greens break...which helped.
The course layout and setting is great, the greens were a good speed & consistent, approach shots held nicely and in general the greens are in real good shape. Same for the fairways,...which they could consider maybe a more defining cut along the fairway edges even though the rough is not overly wide while the fairways are quite generous.
Its an eye-pleasing course that provide a good challenge, while some conditions could use some improvement.
The blue tee boxes appear to be the most used while also having humps/slopes across the tee-area. These boxes could use leveling & a cut lower, and re-position daily.
Most sand traps were raked but hadn't been worked so only a skiff of sand then clay,...causing the club to bounce/skip through the ball and not allow decent sand-trap play..
Some humps/hills along the fairways and around the greens were bald or bare.....from a visual perspective, it takes away from what are many appealing looks to the green or from the tee-box.
In general, is a good course though compared to the Sun City courses and others, $90 for 1224 tee-time seems about $20-25 more than comparable courses.
But I'd still golf Foothills again because of the layout and setting and usual good condition of the fairways and greens.
