McCormick Ranch Golf Club features two lush manicured year-round courses amid the lovely views of Scottsdale. Both the Palm and Pine golf courses' championship tees lay to over 7,000 yards, and there are also the options of men's, seniors' and ladies' tee sets to allow everyone a crack at the tests offered by these golf courses.

Golf Illustrated selected the ninth hole of the Palm Course at the McCormick Ranch Golf Club to be "One of the USA's Top 18 Water Holes." It's just one of 10 water holes on the golf course, which, as you might imagine, also features lots of big palms. In all, the golf course plays to over yards from the blue tees, including four par-5 holes that measure over 500 yards.

A round of golf on the Palm Course at the McCormick Ranch Golf Club kicks off on the par-4 first hole, which plays close to 400 yards from the blue tee and requires a drive right-center to ensure a short-iron second shot.

Good deal for twilight

I played this corset twilight twice and I got 16 holes in one time and 13 or 14 holes in another time.

The course is decently maintained, but because it’s Bermuda grass there are rough spots/hard spots in the fairways and dirt patches. Most difficult thing about this course is, if you haven’t played the beginning of the holes are very poorly marked and you can find yourself driving the wrong way easily.

Golf staff wasn’t the friendliest, seemed a little pretentious for a course like this to be honest.

Overall, it’s a challenging course if you play from the blues, not sure about the whites. They don’t have black teeth.

Greens are unrelated and can be challenging.

Booked the pine course and they made us play both back nines instead. The palm back nice was pretty much unplayable. Greens were rotted away bunkers we filled with water. For the price of the round it was pretty sad. Then after the round I went into ask if they would do anything about it and why the moved us to both backs when they knew the course was in such rough shape. They responded “ the members refused to play so we had to move you guys to the back”. Take that as you wish.

Disappointed

The course layout and greens were good. The fairways & cart paths were terrible. The bunkers had no sand and were full of water and we played at 3pm so they didn’t just water.

First time experience

Range and club house is in great shape, it was our first and last time playing the course. When I booked the tee time it was for the pine course then to realize that when we showed up we are being told to play both back nines because the members refuse to play them since they are in such rough shape. No discount or refund was given. Bunkers were all filled with water 80% of the fairways were died up. I’ve never played on rougher dried out greens. Way over priced for the experience. You can find a lot cheaper courses that are in better shape.

Simply not worth the money. Course is in really rough shape. Sad to see, used to be one of my favorite layouts in the valley but has just been mismanaged for too long. Love the practice area though

Not bad for the price!

Course was in decent conditions minus one or two holes were a little iffy.

my only main complaint that everyone I was paired with strongly agreed with, was the layout of the course and the holes were very confusing. Some signs would point one way in the holes would be a different way and some holes felt like they were overlapped. Other than us getting rushed on the last few holes by the Marshall because we were rhe last ones playing, It was a very pleasant experience and great course of condition FOR THE PRICE.

Grew up playing here, and I’ve never written a review. This was out of control

I want to preface this with I normally will just browse reviews, and never thought I’d feel the need to write one.

I grew up playing here. I’ve played in Phx open qualifier on pine, had the ranch pass, all that. It’s a special place to me

I booked a twilight around 430 on a Tuesday. Loaded my cart, couldn’t find water for the bottle I brought, so I bought one from the stand for 5$. The only other water was a couple of decades old water fountains on the course near the decaying bathrooms.

The course was beyond looking past conditions. The pin location on “2 Palm” (actually 11 Palm) was cut into a section of the green that was mud. There was no grass near the hole location, and the sprinkler system turned it into mud. The bunkers were completely unplayable, filled with water and overgrown. Phoenix public parks in August look more lush than this.

Truly - all of this I can look past and move on, hope it’s a reno, etc. But on my 8th hole, on pace for a 2.5 hour 18, the ranger alerted me I needed the cart in by 7. No problem,

On my 14th hole, I was 45 minutes clear of 7pm. However from that hole on, I was followed, meticulously, by the ranger. After a few holes playing as a single I almost felt the need to ask him what his problem was. Watching every shot I hit. Unbelievably bizarre.

The nail in the coffin was on 18, another course employee alternate to the ranger, who was still following me, was now driving a resort style large cart drove past me, turned around, and park directly behind my cart while I finished my round before 7pm, after I waited for the group in front of me each shot on 18.

I was so shocked I paid money for this experience, I could even get myself to acknowledge this man sitting 2 feet from my cart staring me down.

If nothing else, establishments need to understand that this sort of stuff is simply stealing from people. Don’t pay to be at this place unless there’s some accountability.

Will not play again

Greens were in terrible condition and where greens were damaged they had the pin there so you really couldn’t putt . The bunkers had grass growing inside and were not maintained. Have played here a few times and always loved these courses so was very disappointed at the conditions of the courses

Could be better

A nice golf course that is in need of a little more maintenance. We had a 6-some ahead of us, which slowed things down a bit, at some point, they broke into a 4some and a 2some; not sure if that was their idea or the Marshalls but either way it worked better after that.

I would play here again, but I would hope that the maintenance would improve somewhat

AVOID….!!!

Paid for Palm ended up paying the back 9 of Palm then back 9 of pine. Palm was in terrible condition. I’ve seen better building sites than the greens.. bunkers overgrown…. Lots of dry areas. They should be paying you to play not the way around. The pine back 9 was way better.

Next the staff… we got there early and asked if we could tee off early….”NO YOU HAVE TO WAIT FOR YOUR TE TIME..we tried asked at the pro shop and the starter, same answer… we ended up waiting at the rear of the first tee for 30 mins with no one teeing. off… the starter just made us wait… !!”

Course maintenance

Golfed here many times. Not in very good shape plenty of brown spots including the greens. I have not seen the course in this shape. Water in the sand traps. Sand traps are like cement.

A bad reputation lived up to hype

Played the back Palm and Pine course. The Palm was in really bad shape with tons of mud holes that smell like sewage and greens with so much sand or bare spots on them, they looked like they had bunkers on the greens. None of the bunks had sand and was like hitting off concrete. If you are spending more than $50-$60 to play 18, find another course.
