The Phoenician Golf Club reopened in the fall of 2018 after a massive redesign and renovation by Scottsdale-based architect Phil Smith. The new 18-hole layout replaces the original 27-hole routing. Every hole is new, featuring TifEagle grass greens and tees, fairways and rough that are 419 Bermuda grass. The golf shop has been expanded as well, and the Club Car golf carts have been outfitted with the "Shark Experience" - a new golf technology with a high-definition touch screen and built-in speakers for playing music and watching live sports, news and entertainment, along with GPS yardage.

Simply Amazing

An amazing round. The course was in great shape and the staff was first rate. The pace of play was perfect and we never felt rushed. We will certainly add it to our regular rotation.

Beautiful Resort

I definitely include The Phoenician as one of my favorites in AZ, and the fact that it is Troon Managed is a plus, however, the outside service this visit was subpar at best (had to beg someone to get our bags that were sitting alone at Bag Drop for 10+ minutes) (Not good as my set is NEW and expensive) and additionally I think they did not keep track of who was going where at the turn...We got very backed up after flying through the front nine in under 2 hours. I love the facility, courses and love the resort, but both the guys in the golf shop and the outside service folks need to step up their game as far as friendliness, attention to guests & pace of play.

Excellent Experience

This course has the BEST staff. ..friendly, helpful. This is my 2nd play at The Phoenician. First was last Fall at an outing for a group I lead. The Manager was out at the entrance to greet all of the players and help the other staff put bags on carts, etc. Two totally wonderful experiences on these fabulous courses!

BeBeautiful resort course

Well maintained course. Greens were in great shape. Challenging course but with plenty of room to lay up and play it safe, but that's not my game. I would definitely play here again or recommend it to friends.

desert /canyon

The desert course greens were in poor shape while the canyon was much better not sure why as I've played here before. Pace was fine as they have a ranger to check for slow play.

Great condition, tight layout

My wife and I played the course for the first time. The course conditions were excellent - grass was in great shape for the end of the high season. It was difficult to follow the course direction and know what to expect. This led to several delays going up to scout whet the next shot should be. The course is to some extent 'shoehorned' in to a small area so fairways are adjacent to each other. Course is short, so the tight conditions and difficult greens offer the course protection. Hole 8 on the Desert 9 was restricted to the front tees which was disappointing. Price seemed slightly high for the layout. Still had a good time and would play again as it should be much more playable once you know the layout.

Good course with some spectacular views

Played Desert/Canyon nines on a gorgeous Friday a.m. - course was crowded but pace was fine (4.5 hrs). Desert by far the best nine with some incredible views from the side of Camelback Mtn., Canyon course was good but holes not quite as interesting as Desert. Course was in great shape. Resort itself was beautiful, but F&B prices on course were ridiculous ($6 for an Arnold Palmer). Paid $120 which was in line with rates for that time of year for that caliber of course (a notch below the high end public courses like Troon North and Grayhawk). Don't be fooled by shorter yardage - it's a challenging par 70.

Groomed to Perfection

Brought my teenage son out for his first round of desert golf. This place is simply beautiful. But be prepared for a tough test of golf. Don't get suckered into to playing the tips either - the elevation changes, some tight spots where you can't hit driver, and the par of 70 make it play much longer. Move up a tee box and have a great time.

dont play on St. Paddy's day

Course was in very good shape and the play for first nine was under 2 hours. Caught up to a shotgun group celebrating St. Patrick's day at the turn and the play slowed to almost a 3 hour back nine. Quit and got a refund. Staff was very accommodating.

Tough. Don't look at yardage, look at slope.
Great views from a couple pars threes that are greatly elevated.
