Great Eagle Golf Club
About
Great Eagle Golf Club, rated one of the most affordable golf courses in Arizona, is a championship course in the West Valley. Although it has a traditional design there are several unique and challenging elements that come into play such as undulating mounds that cause uneven lies and well-guarded greens. Water hazards also come into play on four holes. The golf course offers three sets of tee boxes so that there is some flexibility regarding levels of challenge, but overall the course is suitable for any player. The Great Eagle Golf Club, in addition to the course, also offers both a chipping green and a putting green.

Nice course for the money!
Courses in decent shape for the end of summer. Definitely will go back again!
Course is terrible shape!
Good: Nice staff. Pace of play was good.
Bad: Dirt everywhere.Putting greens were Terrible. The cart paths were dirt roads.
Overall: The price was the same as courses that were in much better shape. The owners need to make major renovations to make this a good golfing option. Not a good golfing experience.
Last summer very hard on an already difficult track
I'm sorry to say I will no longer be playing here, it totally sucked, hardly any grass on most fairways and playing off dirt is no fun. The course already is tight with too many grass bunkers but now they are nearly impossible to miss because of the condition of the fairways. The greens were pretty good once able to get on them.
Save your money.
The course was in terrible shape. Fairways that were half grass and half dirt. My partner hot a shot that landed in the middle of the fairway but came to rest on a bare spot and rolled into a lake, not a reward for a quality golf shot. The bunkers were like concrete and almost impossible to hit a proper bunker shot. We will NEVER be playing here again
Love to play this course
The course is in good condition since the aeration. The greens are spotty but not too bad. Overall, I enjoyed playing there.
Great course, although some of the greens were pretty sandy, but my birdie on 16 was phenomenal.
Go elsewhere!!!!
I've played this multiple times in the past, and it's not the best but fit the bill for the cost. This time...no!!! First things first, the cost wasn't discounted for the condition of the course and the driving range being closed. The starter was as about as friendly as a cardboard box, if you don't want to do the job and be friendly...quit. Second, the course conditions were horrible. I didn't pay to play off of dirt and watch my putts hop along the greens, and ride on the roughest cart paths in Phoenix. Then the laziness of the groundskeepers, remove the aeration plugs from the fairways. Multiple fairways totally covered with them. My golf partners and I will not be returning unless there is major changes. FYI...don't be fooled by the 10th hole along Bell Rd, it doesn't represent the rest of the course by a long shot.
The Definition of "Neglect."
The last time I played this course was on the Sping of 2020. At that time, just before the Covid 19 pandemic, Great Eagle was having something of a re-birth. The venerable course was getting watered, manicured, and spruced up. When a friend was visiting from out of State, I thought it would be appropriate to introduce him to this course. Boy, did it prove to be a mistake and an embarrassment. First, the first thing we saw was how bone dry the course was. The fairways had large patches of dirt, devoud of grass. The greens were anything but. Large patches of burnt out grass, not just yellowish, but just plain brown dirt were found. It was a "sick joke" that several holes we placed in the middle of these burnt patches. It was very apparent that this course's Owner and Management just "gave-up" after being ravaged by the heat of the previous month. As my friend said at the conclusion of our round, "This is a tired course."
Good course
The course is in very good shape for this time of year. I always have enjoyed playing here. The fairways and greens were in very good condition. Got out early before it got too hot.
It's July....What do you expect!
The course is fine when it is in season. Unfortunately, at the this time of the year and with this excessive heat and drought, the course is suffering. The aeration and dry areas made the course seem unattended for quite a while but it is July. The entire staff is extremely pleasant and helpful. However, it is still a good course to play.
July Round
Before 7 tee time. Only saw three other players. For the cost, I was disappointed in the condition overall. Greens are big and in decent shape. Only one tee box had a shady spot to park. Probably won't see me back on this course.
Good deal for a good round
Course was in good shape. Really enjoyed the time.
Was impressed with the way the staff handled a bee issue on hole 11. Appreciate not being stung. Thanks
Very bad
Only reason it got a 2 is because the greens were soft and clean, which made a horrible fairway still fun to approach from. Would not recommend
Great day for golf
Great Eagle is in good shape for this time of year. Soon the heat will take its toll on the fairways but not too bad. The greens are still in good condition.
good shape
needs sand in the traps and some cleanup around the fairways
