Challenging track for all levels
I had a fun afternoon with my family. Very hilly, so take a cart unless you're in great shape.
Really gone down hill over here at Laguna Seca
From the staff in the folg shop to the poor conditions of the greens, this is a golf
experience that I will not repeat again. We have been coming up to the Monterey Peninsula for many years and have played Seca about six times. But I will not be plahying it again. Waaayyyy overpriced for the quality or lack thereof...on this crumby track. Greens were the absolute worst that I have played on in any area over the past several years. We are members of the Torrey Pines Men's and Women's clubs and we know what a quality experience is like. Seca...good luck to you but your golf experience SUCKS!!!!!!
Great Day of Golf
The only thing I didn't like, was there was no cart person or snack bar for drinks.
Overall just ok
Ok course. Very dated. Looks like it must have been really nice in the 70s. BTW, that's also the average age of golfers here. On the plus side, it's cheap, scenic, and an overall fun course. On the other hand, the greens were awful - cut up and not well maintained; particularly on the front nine. The tee boxes were like concrete. Overall course was ok. It plays a lot shorter than the yardage. Good for a hot deal, but there's other much better courses in the area for the same price or less. I will go back, but I'm not jumping at the bit to get back ASAP. And this review is not based on how I played. I actually posted one of my best rounds here. Just being honest about what I experienced and how it compares to other courses in the Monterey area that I've played recently. I wouldn't pay full price here.
The "NEW" overbooked Laguna
Each time we went to hit, we had a wait of 10 minutes. At hole 2 there were 18 people waiting to tee off. Upon calling the desk to see if we could do back 9 first, they said that Hole 10 had 8 people waiting. A course should book like a restaurant...... there are only so many available openings. Overbooking slows up everyone! It took us 3 hours to play 9 holes. We quit and the guy at the desk said " this is the NeW Laguna!" That sucks!
Beautiful course but grass was not natural grass
Beautiful layout hard course. but the whole course grass was not natural grass it was wheatgrass.
Wet course
The course was very wet, grass was long
probably because of wet conditions
A great value in Monterey but. . .
make your sand traps consistent. I've been playing Laguna Seca for years now and every one I have played with always has commented on the inconsistency of the sand in the sand traps. Some are this super powdery texture with rocks and others have little depth and you end up striking dirt while others are perfect. The sand traps on the 17th par three are a good example of what they should be. All in all I always enjoy playing here and its a great value for the area. I just need to hit better shots and stay out of the sand traps. :-)

Spectacular views
This is a awesome course for the price, challenging elevation changes and layout. We had a blast and look forward to playing this one again.
A Summer Course?
We played here just a few days after a week of heavy rains and the course showed it. A "cart path only" day.
The course features a challenging layout, is well bunkered, with some blind tee shots (get a yardage book), and had some pretty soggy fairways. The most disappointing aspect, though, was the bumpy greens. Hopefully that too was weather related. We would like to give it another try - maybe this summer.
Oh,soooooo slow pace of play!
The course design is good, but the greens are in need of help. Bumpy, and in need of attention. Every shot was a 10 minute wait making for a LONG day.
AWESOME GOLF COURSE
PERFECT GOLF COURSE. YOU TEE OFF ON THE FIRST HOLE AND ALL THE MOUNTAINS ARE IN FRONT OF YOU AS YOUR VIEW. ALSO LIKED THE BEVERAGE CART. DELICIOUS BLOODY MARY MIX..... KEEP IT UP.
One of My Favorites
I always enjoy playing here. Some very challenging holes gor the average player. Greens were bumpy but is is winter and has been wet.
Good value
2nd group off in the morning, so beat the crowds that can slow down play. Course was in good shape except for the greens. Greens were very beat up. Every putt bounced its way toward the cup. Good value still though for the money.
Golfers, Seek Out Laguna Seca
Laguna Seca is a great golf course, just east of Monterey's airport. The course is challenging without being stressful--and beautifully scenic in the verdant valley along Highway 68. I recommend this to golfers of all skill levels.
Ha ha!
I think that every course in Northern Cal is a summer course right now.
