Golfer Reviews
Laguna Seca has a good variety of holes.
Have played Laguna many times over the years. Good layout, with a nice vairety of holes. The biggest fault about Laguna is the slow play. There are a couple of par 5's which the average ameatur THINKS they can reach in 2, AND CAN'T, which slows play. There are also several holes where it is easy to lose a ball if your shots are off target.
Tough public test
Do not attempt to walk this course unless you know what your getting into. Up and down fairways. Greens break at the hole a lot (could have been pin position that day). A lot of tough tee shots hat are strategic also.
Nice public course near legendary raceway
I like this course because of its elevated tees and greens. Its a hilly course so I would recommend using a golf cart. Just try to get to the driving range and you will know what I mean. The course has plenty of challenges that would make the round entertaining. I played on a weekday afternoon and the pace of play was great. Nice mature trees are present on most of the holes and plenty of bunkers guarding each green. Elevated greens on a number of holes so take an extra club when in doubt. The greens are good but I saw noticable differences in green condition from front 9 and back 9 (better).
Re-Review
This is a quick re-review to add some pictures. A fantastic and fun course in all respects.
POP, staff in the pro shop, challenge / forgiveness of the course and it's maintenance are all top notch. My only mild gripe would be the (senior) food server at 19. She can be a bit crabby, but, I've come to expect it and now I just see it as part of the establishment's overall charm!
A previous poster said that #10 and #15 should be imploded. I couldn't disagree more. Love the challenge of both. I'm not really a fan of the uphill drive at #9 but the extra nice staff at the #10 snack shack make it worthwhile!
If you haven't played LS, you owe it to yourself. Great course for a great price.

Great Value
Very nice course. Can,t beat the price for a course of this quality.
Really nice course
Great course! Had alot of fun playing this track and was very impressed with the overall condition as well. I would definately play here again and/or refer it to others who play golf.
Rough greens
overall this is a good course. 2 areas that could use improvement are the greens and sand traps. They are inconsistent.
A lovely course in between Monterey and Salinas
I really like this course have played it many times. It is set on the side of the mountain so you get lots of elevation changes and have to know where to hit it on some holes do to that fact. a good example would be the 10th hole make sure you hit it up by the left rough so that the ball will roll down to the center of the fairway what ever you do do not go right.
Fun Evening at Laguna Seca
Each hole has it's own character! Enjoyed it and it was a good deal!
Friendly Place
Nice staff, well maintained course, newish carts, nice bunkers. Overall a fun place to play.
carts
the last two times i've played laguna the cart almost lost it's power towards the end of the round. are the batteries old? the brakes were often difficult to set once parked.
Laguna as usual; average
I have played here >10 times. Laguna Seca is the backup to my backup. Although i love the location, I am challenged by the course, and enjoy the different types of shots required to play here, I seem to always feel like it could be so much better. 10 & 15 need to be imploded and re-built. The $3 cart policy is so ridiculously dated I can't even think of another course who asks you for a deposit for the key. The cart paths are extremely rough although I appreciate the rare-if-ever 90 degree requirement.
All in all, this is an average course and would benefit with a little more TLC.
Great course for the money
I drove down from Santa Cruz area to try out this Robert Trent Jones gem. Started out the day with a 500+ yrd drive thanks to the cart path. Traveled all the way to the front of #2 tee box. The greens were in awesome shape and the traps were maintained very well. This course is mostly wide open and plays pretty easy if the wind is not to strong (which it usually is in the afternoon). It was well worth my 45 minute drive and I would recommend it to friends.
Nice layout
Nice layout requiring the use of most of your clubs and some strategy. With few golfers on the course, the round was wonderfully quick. Greens were true and well kept. Some sand traps needed more sand. Always enjoy playing here when I visit the Monterey Peninsula
Great Day
Could not have been happier. Staff was great, even remembered that my wife was with me and gave me a corrected score card for the red tees.
Any Time of Year
We usually play at courses a little farther north but when the conditions are "winter ball" Laguna Seca is an especially good choice because the course dries out well after wet weather. But really, it's a good place to play any time of year because it almost never gets hot.
Really enjoyed playing here.
Course was in good shape, pace of play was excellent and staff was very friendly. I would definitely play here again when I'm in town again.
Quick 9 holes
we played on New Year's Eve. Quick check in and great course condition. My partner was a first time golfer and he had a very good experience . Thanks to a positive experience at Laguna secs,he has decided to continue with the sport of golf.
Pleasant mid-level course
Nice variety of holes in decent condition for December. Lots of elevation changes yet, if ball is positioned properly, your shots are played from good, level fairways. Staff could be more helpful with course tips, but overeall, a good experience.
Great for the Money
I played early and it was COLD! Frost warning (not delay) meant no cart on first 3 fairways. Weather stayed cloudy...course played great. Challenging but not overly difficult. Fair but not easy. The greens were in excellent shape for this time of year. I will certainly add this track to my regularly played courses. By playing early we had no slow play to tarnish the round. Worth playing in my opinion.
That is such an awesome review.
