About
Oak Marsh Golf Course is one of the truly classic Pete Dye-designed golf courses in the world. The course was built in 1972 shortly after the completion of the Harbour Town Golf Links at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. The recent renovation led by Beau Welling was completed in 2025 and was thoughtfully planned to protect the architectural feel of Pete Dye’s original creation.
At par 72, this 6,471-yard course is noted for its tight fairways and small greens, meandering along serpentine salt marsh creeks and through the moss draped heritage oaks for which Amelia Island is famous. With five tee options, the modernized layout was designed to meet the requirements of today’s game brought on by technological advancements in equipment, providing a high-quality and consistent playing experience.

Always a challenge!
Pete Dye is always a welcome challenge. Holiday week play was slow because too many singles were playing alone.
Greens slower than expected and some forward tee boxes and greens aprons were sparse of grass.
Otherwise, enjoyed the round as expected!
Excellent
I work at a top notch Donald Ross golf course and I’d put this layout up against it. Requires certain shots off the tee and good shots into small greens. Of course some spots are brown because it’s late in the year and only stems are growing in fairways and tee boxes but this is a great course. Reminds me of a poor mans stadium course at sawgrass. Well done to the staff that keeps this place up

Course conditions have gotten significantly worse
This course used to be well maintained but it has been going downhill for 3+ years. The current conditions are worse than an average muni. Many tee boxes are pure dirt. Lots of bare areas around greens.

Great course layout, scenery and a must play. Played on a chilly Monday and had the course to ourselves. Highly recommended.

Great course - very very slow play
Had a great time but never play good golf when playing a 4 1/2 hr 18 holes. Waited for every shot but putts. Super nice weather and only saw beer cart 2 times. A great course and a 5 star rating if pace of play was managed better.

Great Track
Everything was good from the bag drop to #18. Dennis was very helpful off the first tee and great advice playing 16 from the golds. Great experience all around, staff very friendly.

Pete Dye at his finest
This has to be one of the areas best kept secrets. I’ve played the stadium course numerous times but I’d take this course over it every time. Beautiful scenery, fairways, bunkers and greens were perfect. The greens rolled true and were fast but not too fast. Easy to check a ball. Everyone was nice and helpful, I just couldn’t have had a better experience. Did I mention it is tough? Risk reward holes are plenty., meandering through maritime forest and marsh. I can’t wait to get back to this course!

A challenging course meandering through exquisite nature
A challenging, thought provoking course. Many target holes, false fronts and marsh carries. We had a somewhat windy day which required constant assessment of distant and angle approaches. Keep the ball in play and scoring is fair and rewarding.

Beautiful course. Course was in great shape.
Only issue was we wanted a beer at the turn and couldn’t get one. Because the bar closed. At 2:00. The staff was so helpful and friendly

Classic Amelia golf
This is a beautiful island course. The fairways were still kind of soggy and muddy in several spots (cart path only today). Play was a bit slow. No on course beverage service or dining service because of COVID which is an unnecessary disappointment in my opinion. I am sure I will be back (and message to management: if you are thinking of ever opening the Ocean course back up - please do it!)

Beautiful scenery everywhere you look
Course a little wet in places but did not hinder play or the quality of the course. Greens are unblemished and true . Slower than usual due to recent rains. My favorite course in the Jacksonville area.
