Deer Island Country Club

Incredible course, great shape. Challenging but enjoyable to play. Greens were great, fairways in top notch shape. Only complaint is the ranger was up our butts the entire day. Saw him about 12-14 different isolated times through 18 holes.. we were behind a very slow group for the front 9 and we got our balls busted throughout the back from this guy and we were playing scramble golf. My only complaint with this gem. Would consider coming back. Paid a good amount and drove about an hour to play, expect to not have the ranger on our chops all day long.

By far, the best out of the way drive you'll make in Central Florida to play a round of golf. Nothing else to say. Kudos to Mike Brownsberger and crew!

This course is in excellent condition..greens are smooth and fast, and fairway are green and lush.

Overall course in good condition for the high heat of summer. Green, no dead spots or much in the way of weeds. They have not yet punched, greens were in good condition yet were on the slow side. Tee boxes were in good condition but a bit fluffy and you didn't need to tee up your ball on par 3's. Water on every hole makes you think and play with some thoughts about strategy. For such a long drive into the country to get there the price is usually a bit steep and I can play cheaper much closer to home. They're summer rates are right on the edge of being too high for the steamy summer. I got a hot deal for under $50 to play and it was worth the drive for that price. Friendly staff all around.

Bring extra balls! Lots of water....but overall a very enjoyable course.

It is in the middle of nowhere but is worth the drive.

Bring an extra sleeve or two, Deer Island is tough. Played here once a year ago and since then have worked on my game a bit. I thought maybe I could improve on my previous round, which I did but barely. If you are a 15+ handicapper I would play elsewhere unless you are a masochist who enjoys pain.

Greens are great, fairways are great, the bunkers were pretty packed down and hard maybe due to rainfall recently. The rough could also use a mow, lost 3 balls in the rough , they were probably there but didnt wanna hold up the group behind searching for too long.

If you play here bring and extra sleeve of balls and probably some alcohol.

Been wanting to play this course for a while and it did not disappoint it is in excellent shape. Couple holes had massive amounts of mosquitoes which was annoying. Pace of play was slow.

I had an amazing time at Deer Island Golf Course in Tavares, FL. The course was in great condition, and the staff were incredibly friendly. The pace of play was super fast, making for an enjoyable round. It was also incredibly affordable! I'm used to paying 2x for similar courses in MN.

A special highlight was seeing a 10 ft gator strolling across the 9th fairway—truly a unique experience! Highly recommend this course!

The course is in great shape. Water everywhere. Just all around great experience. If I had to complain about something the greens were a little furry the day I went out. The best course around for the money hands down

We loved the island feel and location . The course was in great condition . The Only thing that kept this course from higher rating is slower greens speed. It would elevate the whole championship level experience if greens where at a 10 not a 71/2. Staff which is a family run business was very helpful. I look forward to playing anytime I’m in the area . I came from south Orlando. It took over an hour to reach deer island

Got on the course early for a $40 special and finished in 3 hours.

The course was in great shape and what a great value at $40 and a 55 minute drive.
