The Golf Club at The Highlands

This was our first time playing here and man what a course. If you’ve never played here before you’ll be in a bit of surprise. Most courses in RVA that I’ve been to don’t have a ton of elevation change throughout the holes. Well the front nine on this course had some wild unexpected elevation changes.

Precision tee shots were necessary for a handful of the front nine holes.

Greens were in amazing condition. I honestly don’t know how but we barely even saw divot marks on the green. They must be using some type of special grass or something! Haha.

Bunkers were in good shape as well.

Only con was our cart. We had to push start our cart a couple times… which was kind of surprising because they were gas carts.

One recommendation is to make sure your bar/club house is open for hot dogs for the early tee timers! We got to the club house at the turn around 10:20 and they weren’t open at all. We were told later by the cart girl they don’t open till 11 usually?

Other than that this course was great.

Driving range was super nice as well, and the same goes for the practice putting green.

We had a foursome in front of us and we barely saw them/got held up by them. We were also a foursome.

All in all would definitely go back.

Greens were killed as they are apparently replacing them with. Bermuda and will be using temporary greens for the next couple of months….good for them but a little heads up before I booked would have been wonderful. It’s a excellent course, play it often. Had no clue what I was about to experience today tho. Disappointing.

What a beautiful course! Conditions were excellent and the layout was just right to be challenging yet not frustrating. :) service was impressive. We are from out of town and will definitely make an effort to return.

The course was in pretty good shape and was fun to play except for several holes having large soaked areas (it hadn't rained in weeks). A few of the holes had a good scenery. The golf course team were pleasant to interact with from start to finish. Pace of play was super slow though with a big gap between the slow group and the group ahead of them. Wish it was caught sooner.

I was charged for both players on the reservation from the app & each player had to pay at the course as well the full rate. Please refund the $91 charged to my card from this app.

Played 18 holes in under 4 hours. Staff was excellent as well as members helping me out with the layout.

Not the easiest layout in the area but in excellent condition. It does require your A game to score well. The greens roll smoothly but with very few straight and level putts. Above the hole is not the place to be.

Course in great condition but played behind a foursome and from the 4th hole on it was hurry up and wait. The Ranger came around at the 8th hole but never done anything about it. They should have made them to let us play through.

greens and bunkers were in great shape. fairways were good - still not 100% in, but good.
