The highly popular El Campeon Course at Mission Inn Resort consistently ranks in the top 10 of Florida's many golf courses. The course originally opened in 1917 and decades later in 1992, it was joined by a second 18-hole course, Las Colinas. El Campeon is not only one of the state's oldest golf courses but also one of its most challenging. The traditional design remains largely unchanged except for a renovation in 1926. The course winds through towering forests and numerous spring-fed lakes. The layout features water on thirteen holes as well as dramatic elevation changes that measure over 85 feet across the rolling fairways and undulating greens. The signature hole of the golf course is the par-5 17th. This lengthy double dogleg possesses more hazards than some entire courses do.

Greens

Greens had been punched but have grown in nicely. They need to cut them or rile them because they’re rolling at about 7. Should be 10-11. Conditions overall in great condition. Cart girl was absent most of round on this course it’s important as no half way house. Overall great track and history

Course layout is good with elevation changes. Some quirky holes with risk/reward. If I had known the greens had been punched recently (they were healing up but extremely slow) I wouldn't have booked this team time. Tee boxes were beat up. Overall, due to the greens and tee boxes, not worth the money I paid.

Slow Greens

Course is challenging but many tee boxes were beat up. Should have had a disclaimer that the greens had been punched recently. They were beyond slow. Not worth the price I paid.

Loved it.

This course is one of the nicest I have played. Everything about the course itself was amazing. The course was in top shape from tee box to greens and the views of the course is like playing a world class course. The only problem I ran into were the gnats. They were pretty bad on some holes, to the point that I slapped my ball and got in the cart and took off because they were covering my ball and legs and swirling all around me.

Best condition ever

The layout is always one of the best in the state, but the condition is better than ever. After hosting the LPGA event, the greens were like glass, fairways perfect and the 2-3 inch rough rightly penalized a wayward drive. If you are a low handicapper, there has never been a better time to test your skills. Higher handicaps will enjoy the pristine conditions, but they might want to bring an extra sleeve of balls.

Challenging layout that was unique which makes this a special place. Prepping for college tournament so greens were not cut and very slow. Course could use some TLC, but it could be very nice. Disappointing lack of 19th hole. They want you to have a sit down restaurant buffet.

Best in Central Fl.

I love "El Canpeon".....I'm almost as old as the course I'm 89....It takes me an hour to get here ,but it's worth the drive.....not going to get any better than this.....unless your in New England ...I'm from Ct. down here since 76.....I tell everyone I see about this track.
