About

Type Resort
Par 72
Length 7015 yards
Slope 136
Rating 73.8

The highly popular El Campeon Course at Mission Inn Resort consistently ranks in the top 10 of Florida's many golf courses. The course originally opened in 1917 and decades later in 1992, it was joined by a second 18-hole course, Las Colinas. El Campeon is not only one of the state's oldest golf courses but also one of its most challenging. The traditional design remains largely unchanged except for a renovation in 1926. The course winds through towering forests and numerous spring-fed lakes. The layout features water on thirteen holes as well as dramatic elevation changes that measure over 85 feet across the rolling fairways and undulating greens. The signature hole of the golf course is the par-5 17th. This lengthy double dogleg possesses more hazards than some entire courses do.

A cut above

This place is the real deal. We're older golfers and were challenged more than enough from the gold tees about 5500. Course in great shape at a time of year that most places in this area are a mess. Not crowded at all. Gtreat day!

Great track

Bought a hot deal for 3pm tee time. As a twosome we practically had the course to ourselves and played in 3 hours! Great layout, great course conditions, and excellent playability! A must play when in FL!!

Great day out except for...

Teed off at 7:15 and was done by 9:15 so I can’t complain about pace at play, at all. The only downside (this is at most courses) is the maintence crew. They do a fantastic job keeping this place in immaculate shape but they are everywhere and are always in your way. Multiple times I was teeing off and they act like you’re not there, and now you have to step back and wait for them to clear. During this round, the guy changing the pins acted like I wasn’t even there. On two holes he went to change the hole when I was driving up to my approach, and on a par 3 forgot to put the hole and flag back in forcing me to drive up to the green to find where the pin was (water all around so I didn’t want to hit too much of a club) and then I had to putt into a dirt hole. Not all of the guys are bad but still, if I wasn’t a usual there, I’d be angry. Other than that, I love it there and both courses are perfect. A must visit if you are in the area

A Classic Gem

Don’t miss out if you get an chance to tee it up here. This 100 year old course is a classic design that is as hard as nails. Incredible green complexes makes these greens a treat to putt on.

Out of town guest that was disappointed

I booked the time on golf now and I have never had an issue with booking a time. The course was having a big tournament and the course should have been closed to public play. I was sent to a hole with 3 other carts teeing off. I waited for 44 min to tee off and decided this was not going to be a fun day at the course and left. II did ask the pro shop if I could get a refund but since paid in advance on GolfNow they could do nothing for me. The time should have been blocked off for the public when you have a group of over 100 golfers playing in a tournament.

Top class golf facility.

First off this course is not easy, but pick your tees carefully.

Every hole is a gem.

Elevation changes can catch you out with clubbing.

Greens are first class ,firm and true .

Louis really looked after us.

Will definitely be going back.

A picturesque day.

I thoroughly enjoyed my round at the Mission Inn. We played El Campeón and it did not disappoint. The views are spectacular as are the fairways and the greens. Great course, and challenging for every level. They offer blended tees too if you want to take a bit of the edge off. Plenty of birdies for everyone and gators too. Go play and see for yourself.

An Amazing Day at El Campeon

I run a large Woman’s golf group in the Villages, FL. Brought 12 of our members to Mission Inn, some of whom had never played the course. From start to finish it was PERFECT. The course was in Amazing shape, the staff was wonderful . Staff met us at the Bag Drop, there was beverage cart on the course. I got CTTP, yeah!

We then enjoyed a wonderful meal at La Margarita. All the meals were great, from pizza to salmon. The chef

came out to welcome us. A perfect ending to a Perfect Day.

Serious golf course

Do not make the mistake and think this is a holiday golf course. This is a test of golf of the highest standard. The greens are a delight to play and if you come off shooting a score you will have one big smile on your face. Immaculate in presentation and challenging for neatly every shot it will test your game to the limit.

Large disappointment

This course is extremely overrated, the staff was very rude from the bag boys to the starter, to the pro shop. The course isn't worth the money and for sure not worth the drive from Orlando. Las Colinas the other course I played a month ago wasn't much better. A resort that is average at best out in the middle of now where.Don't waste your time and especially your money.

Beyond slow

5 hours 15 minutes for a threesome was ridiculous pace. Never saw a ranger entire time we played.

And couple i played with had to chase down the cart girl several times. And my wife heard in the bar that several people had been there 4 days and had never seen the cart girl. Yet it was in high 80s temperature wise so I would have thought girl would be out a lot making a lot of sales.

Course was very wet, 1 and 18 were "cart path only" with no provisions for handicapped players. No handicap flags - no need just stay 7-10 yard away from greens and tees. Even if one can't walk that far, it doesn't matter

Greens were slow surprisingly considering everthing. And very inconsistent. one would have very slick places and others that were super super slow. Extremely hard to get feel on.

But lots of emphasis on it was the #1 course in Florida and how great it was by the starter. Seems he's never heard of TPC Sawgrass, Streamsong, Innesbrook Copper Head amoungs many other courses. Super long ways from #1 in state of florida by almost anyone's true judgement.

My wife had to go to check me in as it was too far for myself (disabledd and limited walking ability) to walk. Course staff didn't care. Mostly unfriendly.

Have friend coming from NJ later this month and I cancelled the show round there as it's a lousy showpiece for Florida golf. Rudeness and slowness are not typical for most florida courses, especially those that rely on tourism.

Super Layout and golf condition

Far away but worth the drive ! One of the nicest golf played in Orlando (like Grand Cypress) but greens are a bit too slow.
