The highly popular El Campeon Course at Mission Inn Resort consistently ranks in the top 10 of Florida's many golf courses. The course originally opened in 1917 and decades later in 1992, it was joined by a second 18-hole course, Las Colinas. El Campeon is not only one of the state's oldest golf courses but also one of its most challenging. The traditional design remains largely unchanged except for a renovation in 1926. The course winds through towering forests and numerous spring-fed lakes. The layout features water on thirteen holes as well as dramatic elevation changes that measure over 85 feet across the rolling fairways and undulating greens. The signature hole of the golf course is the par-5 17th. This lengthy double dogleg possesses more hazards than some entire courses do.

Halloween treat (no trick)

El Campeon has long been a favorite tract, but I can’t recall playing it in better condition. The tees and greens were great, the bunkers raked & the greens were fantastic. Las Colinas tends to have better greens imho, but when fixing ball marks, one can feel the solid root structures and they rolled fast and true. My only complaint is not enough golfers fixing their own ball marks. The super and staff are doing a great job.

To much flights were to slow, we endet on the 18th in the dark, startet at 1:40pm endet at 7:15 pm...

The were also just one cart coming over with drinks and snacks.

Florida course with elevation change

I golfed this course last year and wanted to take my son here this year

We’re from Buffalo so to me it’s a very Florida style tract with lots of water, par 3s over water, lots of guarded greens with great sand traps. Plus palm trees, gator warning signs and fast greens

My son really liked it! It’s worth the extra drive from Orlando

Great Conditions!

Not much to say other than “excellent”. The only issues with El Campeon are caused by the morons that play it and fail to fill divots, repair ball marks, or rake bunkers. With great conditions from tee to green, it is unbelievable to me that players won’t take the time to reward the hard work of the staff by taking a few seconds to fix their divots, ball marks, and bunker prints/shots. Anyway, El Campeon is a fabulous track that is a mere 40 minute drive (at most!) from the Orlando area. If you love golf, you will thoroughly enjoy El Campeon but you better bring your A game as it will test every aspect of your skills. Unlike most FL courses, this course has some serious elevation changes and some extremely tricky and FAST greens. Well worth the trip and a great value for your golfing dollar!!

Great fun, tuff course ( for me anyways)

Beautiful layout, change in elevation makes it challenging.

Food at Nickers was very tasteful. Enjoyed it and will be back.

Mission Inn

I played the old course this time and except for one green, the greens were smooth and a good pace! The on course cart attendant was timely and the prices were reasonable. There were a few wet areas and the new carts have GPS and you can't drive into any wet spots The GPS showed the hole and was a touch screen so you could see how far that bunker was from the tee box! I have played both courses and enjoyed both of them!

Better than ever

Played here many times and tee to green this is the best condition the course has ever been in. The greens were fast and true as usually, but the fairways were in tournament condition. The rough was thick and could cost you 1/2 a shot if you missed the fairway. The layout is one on the best in Florida. If you want to test your game, El Campion is the ideal place to go in its current condition.

The off course amenities: putting area, range and on site restaurant are excellent places to begin and end your round.

El Campion course has beautiful views.

The El Campion course has rolling hills & nicely maintained fairways & greens. Bunkers are firm & the greens roll true but are slowish.

Slow, slow,sliw

We played as a 4 ball stuck behind a group called the Plantations playing Texas scramble. They were oblivious to anyone else. Two ladies who seemed hardly able to walk and two men who took ages to take their shots. They had no clue. We stood on the 16th in the pouring rain waiting to play while they dithered around. To add insult to injury once we were absolutely soaked waiting for them they went off! Such a shame as it would have been a great round otherwise. They should have been on a pitch and putt not a championship course.

The Mish

I used to play Mission Inn’s El Campeon course when I was a kid and it was called Floridan Country Club. It never gets old. Tremendous layout and I happen to catch it this time right after the Motah Begay III junior championship so the conditions were incredible.

Good challenge but also fair

Great layout! The top two handicap holes were very challenging to say the least. Greens were fast and true. Staff was friendly. Only knock would be that there is no ice or water stations on the course. I’ll definitely be back.
