Bent Creek Golf Course
About
Since the opening of Bent Creek Golf Course in 1989, the 6,420-yard, par-71 course has provided a challenging golf experience for residents of Northeast Florida and visitors alike.
Crafted by renowned architect Bobby Weed with consulting services by Mark McCumber, Bent Creek's meandering terrain takes golfers through a certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary, towering pines and alongside creeks and swales. The championship layout boasts Bermuda grass greens, plush fairways and a state-of-the-art lighted practice facility - home of the Bent Creek Golf Academy.
From the back tees, Bent Creek carries a rating of 71.6 and a slope of 136. The challenge starts with the first hole, which measures 538 yards from the gold tees, just 20 yards short of No. 15, the longest hole on the golf course.

Great round
It started out great playing decent round 1st ti.e in 6 months due to health reasons but turned sour at turn because it started pouring rain after teeing off on tenth decent drive off tee but couldn't play through without getting soaked lol. Got raincheck for back nine at clubhouse pro shop staff were really understanding and gave us raincheck for later date. Outstanding and went above and beyond to help someone out.
Tough but fair
We had the good fortune of playing with Sammy, who has been playing the course off and on for 15 years. His knowledge was very helpful as there’s a number of blind to semi-blind tee shots, forced carries, and interesting shots to be made.
The conditions were great for this time of year. Greens were a little inconsistent but that may be due to the overcast start of the day at 70*, then getting into the low 80’s with sun midway through the day.
Seems like a course that you’d learn and score better the 2nd- 3rd, etc time playing.
Will be back.
Course plays long. In good shape. Very friendly staff, and good cold drinks at the 19th. Have fun!!
Best secret in West Jax
Proshop Staff, Starter and cart girl all TOP NOTCH! Course layout is challenging, greens are in decent shape, and pace of play was great (4-some under 4 hours).
Great course, especially for the money
I love playing at Bent Creek. They've been doing a great job of keeping the course in shape, even through the winter. The greens have been very good and all the bunkers are consistent. The fairways are in good shape. Best of all, it has a really good practice facility. That isn't super fancy, but has everything you need to practice of the game. I just wish it had a fairway bunker to practice hitting long shots out of!
Windy day at Bent Creek
Having played BC for the last 20 years and also having a great understanding of the difficulties of running a public course, I am happy to report that BC is in great shape for a municipal course here in Jacksonville. The greens were well grassed, smooth, and rolled at a medium speed. The fairways were a little skinny on grass and the tee boxes were fair with the typical challenges on flatness and amount of good grass. Traps were in good shape with plenty of sand. I did have a concern about the lack of merchandise in the Pro Shop, but maybe they were prepping for spring. I would recommend playing BC if you enjoy a challenge.
Great Course
I played this course two times in the last 3 months. Both times the course and greens were in great condition. The staff were friendly and willing to answer any questions about the course and ammenities. I will definitely be back.
Cold day of golf
Well first off it was a cold day , played at 12 noon we were the only ones on the course until hole 13, never seen a sole until then , then seen more out there . my wife was just a rider/ score keeper, i shot good in cold course was great, greens smooth, I shot a 94, just couldn’t putt it in, 2 and 3 putt most. but a fun day once the sun come out, parked in sun all day , got coffee half way, course well maintained in winter months.
Time of Play
I played Bent Creek 5 or 6 times in 2024 after the restructured greens, and it took 4 hrs 50 mins to 5.5 hours for every round. I really like the course and would play a lot more but the pace of play is always horrible. It appears they have more first-time golfers than other courses causing a lot of the slow play without course managers riding around to help keep pace of play moving along. I would recommend getting an average time of course play for the average15-20 handicappers and post those time signs along some of the holes. For instance, coming off the 6th green, you could put, Your group should be 1 hour and 40 minutes or less into the round if using a 4 hour and 20 minute round. Also signs galore of “Letting faster players play through”. Thank you.

I forgot to mention in my review how good the bunkers and sand here are. Good call.
