Golfer Reviews
Good time had.
We golfed here about 3 months ago and it was in bad shape. But today the conditions were much better. Awesome weather and had a good time.
Good course that you can tell used to be great
Great course for the money (golf now 🔥 deal). Too bad that current owners are letting it go. Talked to a couple of locals, who told stories of how great this course used to be.
Rough Rider of a course
The course management company has now infused the rough areas with a rough which was IMPOSSIBLE to escape with a club. In fact, it is so deep that my two playing partners left after only 9 holes as they each lost 4-6 golf balls in the rough. It is so deep, that finding balls is really hard. In fact, I lost two balls which were just barely off the fairway and tried to hit one shot, but the gnarly windy rough almost ripped the club from my hand. The rough has to go before I will come back to what was one of my favorite courses.
As far as the rest of the course is concerned, the greens are in the best condition I have seen them in the past three years. I have played from difficult roughs at major courses, like the Kikuyu rough at Riviera course in Pacific Palisades in CA, but there is one thing to say about difficult roughs. You can hit out of them. Legacy has IMPOSSBLE rough which really penalizes the player. Something must be done before I will go back. One other thing is that some of the bunkers have rocks in them, a real pain of tossing them before using club.
Not satisfied
Ownership needs to put money into this course or sell it. A course that has potential but show neglect. On hole 17 I grabbed a rake to smooth the trap and cot my hand and got fiberglass splinters form a broken handle.
Nice course nice deal
Overall well maintained and interesting course. Some holes are gorgeous. Greens were a little scratchy most fairways were very nice. Rough is thick and we lost a couple balls in it so keep it in the short grass. First time for our group but we'll be back!
Terrible Greens
The greens are in terrible shape (lumpy and bumpy). The tee boxes are like a shag carpet, and the pace of play is ridiculously slow (no Marshall). The rough is so thick that you spend 5 minutes just looking for it because it’s sunk down. And finally to top it off many of the bunkers are like a rock quarry.
Rough day
Since last playing this course 6 weeks ago, they have seeded areas on the immediate sides of the fairways with rough so thick that it is hard to find any ball which gets into it. The two persons who played with me left after ten holes and losing 4 balls each. Pace was slow as many golfers were looking in this gnarly rough for their balls. I have payed over 250 different courses in my 80 years. This rough was the most penalizing I have ever seen. The only way to hit out of it is to hit straight diwn on the ball, which is two to three inches deep.
Sand traps still either have rocks in them or are simply hardoan.
Al in all I will not recommend this course to friends until the rough is changed to something golfers can find their balls and hit out of it.
Right behind a tournament
We quit after 10 holes which was approaching 3 1/2 hours. Went back to the office snd complained. There was a young man there who said he had no authority to do anything or offer anything to make it right. He just said he was sorry. We left and were not happy. Would not have booked here if we knew we were following a tournsment
Golf
Course just opened greens were horribly bad fairways were ok tee boxes were rough and some weren’t even marked . The course should of opened when i at least when the greens were at least playable
The moon 🌙
Putting on these mostly dirt greens is like "Putting on the moon" My playing partner said. The rough is extremely unfair and makes it difficult to find your ball. My partner lost 2 balls on the 9th hole that were just barely off the fairway. On the 16th hole I looked for my ball for quite a while and only found it when I ran it over with the cart. A real.shame because this is a good layout that is a real test of golf but the conditions are so poor I won't be going back for quite some time.
The Course Is Struggling
Unfortunately my wife and I stopped playing after 14 holes. We should’ve stopped at 9. Through the front 9 in took 2.5 hours. The pace of play was absolutely terrible, and there was not a ranger to push the pace.
But that’s not where it started. Upon arrival I dropped my bags at the bag drop, checked in and went back to retrieve our clubs. We waited at the cart pick up area 5 minutes before I finally went to the tunnel to see if someone would give us a cart. The gentlemen was really nice and said I’m bringing it out now. Upon giving us the cart we noticed immediately that our cart was filthy, cigarette butts in the cup holder, beer caps in the dash. Really bad… so we cleaned it up and moved on.
Then came the pace of play…then the second and third cut was so long you will lose your ball. Now you may think I’m exaggerating but seriously you can see the evidence throughout the course of balls that are getting sucked up in the mowers.
I apologize for sounding like I’m complaining but this was not a good experience. For this price I’d rather play Wildhorse, Chimera, Las Begas Golf Club, Rhodes Ranch etc….
They're trying......
I understand that we're in a drought......... The tough spot on the course are easy to detect. But- the DANGEROUS areas with cart path damage need more notification as well.....
Poor condition
We played discourse a year or two ago and it was so much better condition than it was this year definitely should’ve been a reduced rate to play in those conditions
Legacy golf
The greens were horrible. We play fairly fast but we had a twosome cut in front of us on the 11th hole. With no Marshall around there was nothing we could do It slowed are play terribly.
Getting ready for overseed
Rough was 3-4” long. Which with Bermuda grass sometimes results in extra time to find your ball. If playing smart, use an 8 up to a PW to get back in play. The course was in decent shape overall. A few greens were a little bare, but rolled consistent with rest of the green. They were fast greens for the area.
