Lakes/Sunrise at Spanish Trail Country Club
About
Opened in 1984, Spanish Trail Country Club is one of Las Vegas' oldest golf courses. The club offers 27 holes divided into three unique nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The entire golf course is filled with tree-lined fairways, undulating hills, and sparkling lakes but each nine offers a distinct environment. The Lakes/Sunrise Course is the shortest of the three combinations at 6,957 yards. The aptly named Lakes nine has water coming into play on six holes. Golfers should be prepared for several forced carries as well as water guarding the greensides on five holes. The fifth hole on the Sunrise nine was ranked as one of the toughest holes on the PGA Tour back in the late 80s when the club hosted the Las Vegas Invitational. The back nine also has plenty of water, most notably on its signature final hole, which features a scenic waterfall.

Par 3 - Spanish Trail Photo submitted by Bissonpa on 11/26/2012
Liked and would play again
We liked everything about the course, except they allow 5 players in a group. We were stuck behind such a group and the pace of play was well over 5 hours. Conditions were very good, with the exception of some thin lies. Houses surrounding the course were incredible and as much fun to look at as the course.
Average...
This week we played for $50, next week it's $100. They doubled the price. It is worth $50., but not $100. Not to us.
Not worth the money. Course in bad condition.
Positives:
● 15 mins from Strip
● Starter got us out 30 mins earlier before a tournament
● Complimentary range balls.
● Beverage cart on course.
Negatives:
● Course in bad condition.
● Greens hairy and badly dirt patched. Prior to round pro shop told us greens speed running around a 9-10 but were more like a 7.
● No Marshal, Slow play. 5.5 hour round.
● Directions to next hole was challenging. No signs.
● No GPS on carts.
● Course layout nothing special.
Overall, we had a extremely poor experience playing Spanish Trail. The course conditions were extremely poor and the $105.00 green fees were grossly inflated.
This course was in great condition for September in Las Vegas.
The fairways were wide open and in good condition. Staff was friendly and helpful. Enjoyed playing this course.
Great layout, pace of play poor. No Marshall's to help
I loved the layout and the corse was beautiful. They allowed two groups of 5 members that played a bit earlier and they slowed the course down to a crawl. We waited every shot and up to 10-15 minutes on every tee. That totally wrecked our golf experience.
Not once did we see a Marshall to help try and pick up the pace. It was a 5 1/2 hour round. Supposedly this group of 10 play quite regularily as fivesomes, you may want to inquire if you book that you are not behind them
If they are going to allow public play then they need to adhere to their rated pace of play regardless if they are members or pay as you go players.
Very nice course. The Lakes course is very challenging and beautiful. Hole #2 is a great signature hole!
Great course to play when in Vegas! The Lakes course was my favorite and most challenging!
Wonderful time all the way around
Everything at Spanish Trail was above expectations. The facility was very nice, the staff was very friendly, and the course was in very good shape. I would love to play here again.
Very good value, nice and scenic
Played combo tees, probably should have played tips. But overall, nice layout. Challenging in certain areas if you don't get off tee boxes but if your hitting nice, you can score very well. Had a good time with friends.
This is a great course with a wonderful staff
This is a wonderful golf course with challenging layouts on each nine holes. The staff is friendly, helpful and always going out of their way to help you make your experience a good one
Its a Beauty!!!
I was in town for the weekend and had to choose one course to play and so happy I choose this course. Beautiful, grass was very green, free range balls, soft and fast greens, beautiful layout with waterfalls on many holes, surrounded by nice homes. I scored cause I got the hot deal of the day on this course and played for $45, I would have been happy to pay the regular price of $90 any day. Challenging with many shot choices on certain holes. I will play again when in vegas!!!
A nice and quiet place very close to the Strip !!
The Canyons nine they were in pretty good condition, the fairways on the Lakes nine unfortunately not so much !! Overall the greens they were pretty smooth, only few they were just a little slow and a touch of bumpy. But it is a nice place.
Private Course
This was a private course that now allows public to play for financial reasons. Problem is, members still act like it is a private course. Members sprint through a 3 hour round probably because they have course knowledge. Outsiders expect something more like a 4-1/2 hour round. We were pushed and hawked and treated liked outsiders as we finished our 4-1/4 hour round.
It seems the course should raise their dues and keep it private or if they allow public, then they should accommodate their scheduled tee times with outsiders in mind.
I brought some guests for a nice round of golf. We will not be back.
Unbelievable Golf Course....beautiful
Played many a golf course all over the world and this rates in my top 3. Friendlt staff, professional and they care about you having a good time at their course AAAA++++
Amazing service and am amenities
The staff that work there were unbelievably friendly from the bag guys to the proshop. I was a single who was to be paired with three others. Despite a 9am tee time on a Sat there was no one on the course. I ended up going out in front of my group as a single. I played through only two groups and played 18 in 2:30.
I started on Canyons nine. It was in amazing condition and was pretty challenging. Fairways and greens were pristine. Then I switched over to the Lakes nine. The condition was not close to the Canyons nine. The fairways were in the shape I would guess for August in Las Vegas. That said the greens were all in great shape. I did see some crab grass on the fringe around a few greens. That's tough to fix but needs to get beer control.
All in all it was an amazing day. Plenty of water in the carts and i saw the cart girl at least 5 times. Even if I had played in the foursome we would have been flying as there were only a few groups even out there. I guess that's why the club has some financial issues.
The clubhouse is beautiful and massive. The homes surrounding the course are beautiful as well. With a little more work this place can turn around and recover.
A truly great day I loved it and thanked the staff several times.
Great Course
Great course. Play was little slow but otherwise it was great very nice course.
Good layout
Some good risk reward holes. Greens in good shape.
Another dried out Vegas golf course.
Terrible golf course. Just another dried out poorly maintained course. No wonder it is offered to the public. The excuses I hear are, "It's summer the heat" or it's winter the courses are dormant. But you go down the Road to Boulder Creek and it's beautiful shape. It's just another rip off course without any challange. Forget it.
Great course layout.
This is definitely not your grip it and rip it typical Vegas desert course, precise tee and iron shots are required. Loved it.
Nice course, great views!
Nice course, had some really great holes loved the 18th on the lakes course, greens were faster on the canyons course that they were on the lakes, took a few holes to adjust. My wife wanted to ride along and watch me play and Unfortunately I did not notice as I was booking my tee time online that no denim allowed on the course so the pro shop informed us she would have to buy a pair of shorts ,the gentleman working the counter was nice enough to give us their discount. The only thing that really shocked me was when I finished, the cart staff did not offer to clean my clubs, not really that big a deal, but I have played cheaper courses that cleaning your clubs is a standard practice,I'm guessing that they pay more attention to the members than they do guests. Over all still a nice course and a good experience .
Fantastic golf course
We play golf in Las Vegas every summer and in the last few years we have seen many of the courses in poor condition.
This is the nicest course we have played in years. They lakes course is very challenging but a beautiful track. Will put this one on the list to play again.
