Slow play. Greens chewed up!
Fairways beautiful. Open course. Overbooked and slow.
Don't waste your money
This course was in seriously bad shape. The crabgrass was everywhere, to include the fairways and the greens! There were divots on the greens that were larger than on the fairways, and the divots on the greens were full of sand. It was so bad you couldn't putt correctly!
Greens are GONE!!!!
The greens were the absolute worst I have ever seen in over 20 years of playing golf. Some sort of fungus or something has invaded. To say that there was some grass on the greens would be an overstatement. The pro who took my green fee just said that the greens had been "sanded" and would roll a little slow. If that was truly the case, I wouldn't complain. The problem was that there wasn't even any sand on the greens. There were craters everywhere. It was blotches of grass interspersed with dirt. I won't go back until well after the seasons change.
Should be closed, greens need help.
Don't waste your time, greens are very beat up. There is more dirt than grass on the greens.
Shockingly Poor Greens
My friend (visiting from FL) and I each paid $30. plus fees to golf at Las Vegas' oldest golf course. When we arrived the gentleman in pro shop warned us greens were being aerated (w/sand). No problem, I've played on plenty of courses with aerated greens. This, however, was far worse. Many of the greens had large patches of missing turf. It was no different than putting on the hard desert surface. On a few holes we played into running irrigation; the sprinklers were actually on, spraying the fairway and putting green as we approached. We had to wait for them to turn off the irrigation. Not worth $30 bucks.
Greens are in terrible condition.
The greens are in terrible condition. They have lost almost all of the grass, with tufts left that deflect the ball. Two greens are shut down and replaced with temporary greens cut into the fairway in front of the normal greens. Price was cheap, but the greens made it hard to figure out how well you were doing. Putts went everywhere.
If the price is right
I paid $3.00 for a round with a cart. Although I chose to walk since I like walking and few courses in Las Vegas encourage this.
The price was great. The fairways and tee boxes were good. But the greens were really, really bad. Burnt out with very little grass on them. I know it is summer, but I would have been really disappointed had I paid regular price for this course.
There were two temporary greens, but the other 16 need help.
The greens are a complete mess.
The greens have been attacked by a fungus or something, and are bare with patches of grass here and there. Impossible to put on. Two holes have temporary greens set up. In addition, the fairways are ratty. The staff do not tell you this when you check in. This course should be closed until the greens are replaced.
Course condition and game control
Majority of the greens were in terrible condition; sunburnt and barren with no courtesy information on the issue neither by posted signage nor personal notification by pro-shop staff.
Allowing twosome to play out of one bag plus there was no course marshal to control the game pace.
Too many slow groups of players trying to learn how to play the game on the course with no knowledge of the game etiquette.
LAs Vegas Golf Club
Don’t waste your money! There are too many nice courses around to play here. We found this course to be in very poor condition, in bad need of water. Play was very slow, there was very little drinking water on the course and with temperatures in triple digits it was not good. We will not be playing here again.
rangers
like always here you get behind a group that does not know any golf ethics this day of play we are waiting to hit to the green and the groupe in front was taking a considerable amount of time they were praticing putting while we are standing in the fairway to hit in then the next hole they hit my partners ball i have played at this course approx 15 times in 3 mths so far you turned the sprinklers on me at the tee and sprayes into my back and you miss place the cart i used that day you then have a employee call me and ask what i did with it 2 days later i play there and see the cart why dident they call to say they found the cart i play there because my sun golf partner likes the course but i have since been playing else were during the week this course owes me
Course is not too difficult but the greens could use some work.Fellow golfers not very polite.
The course isn't laid out too bad. However the greens were very hard and the ball no matter the angle seldom stayed on the green. Not to mention that the other golfers(not in our group) were inconsiderate. One time we were on the green putting when a twosome drove up in a cart to the green and the passenger jumper out and played a ball from the greenside bunker and never said a thing.
easy going
nice easy course with no big challenges.
Prefect for beginners since it is very hard to loose a ball.
Not many traps almost no water
very good condition nice greens good practice area
pace of play should be enforced. brand new carts were nice.bar, restaurant, and lounge area inside and outside were very nice
Friendly people
I liked to play on the oldest golf course in Las Vegas, and I happy to know that the manager mantainsbthe golf course in good shape.
This course is not too difficult for a hacker like me.
Not overly hard. Did not lose any balls. Pace was not hurried.
Good Beginner course.
Greens were in so so shape. Tee boxes needed attention also. Fairways though were decent. The only reason I wouldn t reccomend is because there are so many other courses in the Las Vegas area that are in much better condition for just alittle more money, Decent course though for beginners.
Great open course layout, forgiving for wild hitters; great value
Open course layout - almost impossible to lose a ball. Course shape was average to excellent for a municipal course - I've certainly played on much worse for more money. I played from the mid-tees (approx 6000 yds) and had a blast - I felt like a long hitter, even though I drive the ball only about 250 yds. Driving range and putting green were in great shape. People were friendly and the pace of play was typical (about 4.5 hours for 18 holes). This is the second time I've played this course and I will definitely play it again.
No GPS on Carts or Sensors on Flags
There is no GPS on Carts or Sensors on Flags so you can't use your own distance system. Black Mountain has them on their carts and sensors on the flags. I believe that in the 21st century all courses should have this available.
Bad management
Play was slow, no marshall to be seen. Greens were dying or not watered. After playing #10 the sprinklers came on about 1/3 of the back nine. After playing 11 they went off, got to 14 and they came back on. The 14th tee box was drenched so we called the office and the guy said to come in for re-embursement. We went into the office and he said that he could not refund us or give us a free round.
