Golfer Reviews
Basic open old style course design
This is definitely a venue for the locals. Price is reasonable but for the same price there are much better courses. It is very short even from the back tees under 6000 yards. But being short my wife did not get her normal advantage like on allot of courses. Course condition was ok, not horrible and not great, greens are fast and hard which I usually like except for all the divot repair I had to do, apparently something some golfers forget they should do:). Pace of play was very slow and the other pair we were golfing with were locals and they said it is always slow, it was a 5HR round on a Monday. Would hate to see it on a weekend! This is not a typical desert course so it is very wide open think Municipal course. Would be a great course for a beginner or short hitter. Hard to hit a ball OB, the only trouble is ending up behind the occasional tree. The course was built in 1938 so it has that old flare. Worth doing it once, but I personally would not return as a just a visitor to the area. BTW not in the best part of town since probably the 60s or 70's, though Siegfried and Roy's old estate can be seen on I believe the 11th,cant miss it has the S/R intials on the gate. Hope this helps as I know the reviews always are for me. EL 12Hcp
course is ok
the greens were very slow and the teeboxes were misplaced on the front nine, the guys in the pro shop although not rude were not overly friendly or helpful.
SLOW PLAY
The course has shown a few improvements sinse OB took over. The greens have improved but still need work ( very bumpy). The pace of play is unbeliveably slow for a course of this length and dificulty. They need a marshal on the course.I have played this course in 2.5 hours, and sunday it took us 6 hours. This only leaves most golfers MAD and not enjoying their round of golf. You dont have to be a good golfer to play a round in 4.5 hours.Golfers should be informed before they tee off their required to keep a normal pace of play (10-15 min.per hole).Im sure this would anger some golfers and they would choose to play elsewere, but it would also keep others like my self returning to play here. There are ways for course staff to handle slow play golfers ,and while it may anger these players ,they will learn to conform to rules of the course or play elsewere.Golf courses need to put more effort into teaching or reminding golfers on course edikit.(fixing ball marks )and so on.Golf course should take pride in teaching and educating golfers, so this great game can be a enjoyable experiance for all.
nice course but too slow for play
played this couse twice but on both occasions the play was too slow and on one occasion it got dark before being able to finish.
Very enjoyable and a great value!
This course features excellent customer service-great course conditions and gives a feel for the history and tradition that makes Las Vegas a great town!
great course for begginers
this course is less challenging than most realistically there is no out of bounds. the farirways run parallel to each other so erant shots may still be played. Only one water hazazard on a par three about 90 yards. the course is very busy but very reasonably priced.
