Painted Desert Golf Club
About
One of the pioneers in Las Vegas golf, Painted Desert Golf Course is a 1987 Jay Morrish design has golfers shooting at targets in the desert.
Painted Desert has maintained its place in the Sin City golf community through all its changes by putting on an emphasis on course conditioning. Just because your greens are almost two decades old does not mean they cannot be in better shape than many of the new kids on the block.
The desert is the focus here, but Morrish also works in a few lakes as obstacles.
"This golf course is a very friendly layout and you can score here without having a feeling of imminent doom on every hole," John Scappatura said. "We are a bit off of the beaten path, which means that we almost always have availability for tee times. Everyone who does make the trip out here though appreciates our conditioning, the price, and the friendly atmosphere."

Bad Course / Bad Service
Course is not in good shape. Ground is very hard and rolls forever. They have a menu up at hole 7 or 8 to order at the turn. No one would answer the phone. Pro shop was nice enough to put my order in for me. When we went to pick it up it wasn't ready and had to wait a longtime before giving up and leaving. No one there seems to care about the service or the course. That will be my one and only time golfing there.

Delayed Tee-Off, never finished
Ran 20-30 minutes behind to tee off, never finished the round due to sunset and extreme overbooking and slow play. Course in mediocre condition, poor green conditions in places, not putter friendly. No on course customer support for slow play.

Good little course for the value

Much better pace of play, seems like groups were sent out every 15min or so, so there was minimal wait around the tee boxes. I didn't see any marshal on the course which is something that really makes things smoother, but overall better experience this time. Greens need some TLC, they are fair at best, fairways seem good this time around. Keep it up from here for the spring season.
Thanks for your feedback and repeat business! We're glad to hear you enjoyed the improved pace of play. We appreciate your insights about the marshals and greens; we’re committed to enhancing the experience for everyone. Looking forward to a great spring season! Alan B. General Manager
Not worth your time or $ right now!
Context…
1 handicap and I’ve played golf all over the world.
Greens, good pace but BUMPY and unhealthy.
Every hole looks the same. Not much personality to the course outside of a couple holes with water.
PACE OF PLAY, WOW! If you want to spend 5.5 hours with someone and get to know their life story, this is the place for you!
With so many options in the Vegas area for similarly priced greens fees, this isn’t one you should add to your rotation.
BearCreek2019, we appreciate your feedback and are sorry to hear about your experience. We're committed to improving our course and pace of play. Your insights help us understand our guests' needs better. Thank you for sharing, and we hope you'll consider giving us another chance in the future.

Profits over pace
Common theme across las vegas arcis managed courses is poor pace. Its a shame that there will never be an improvement of pace. Why???
1. Profit comes first
2. Pace improvements conflict revenue goal
3. Reactive not proactive
4. Competitive pressure not strong
Fact is that arcis has the local las vegas economy by the throat, and they don't have to change. If every golfer who plays low cost courses decided to take their business for a month to aliante, the club at sunrise, durango hills, north las vegas municipal, stallion mountain, or desert willow.... perhaps they would implement change.
Brutal truth:
The Arcis group operates as a for-profit business, and improving pace-of-play is only a priority if it directly impacts their bottom line. Unless golfers demand changes—either by providing feedback, leaving negative reviews, or playing elsewhere—significant improvements are unlikely. The unfortunate truth is that as long as courses remain profitable, pace-of-play issues will likely remain secondary to revenue generation.
Complain all you want but nothing sparks change for businesses like a loss of revenue.
Hello, We appreciate your candid feedback and understand your concerns about pace. We're constantly evaluating our operations and value all input. Your thoughts are crucial in helping us improve. We hope to enhance your experience in the future. Thank you for sharing your perspective.

3.5hrs for 9 holes...etc.
If I could give 0 stars when it comes to pace.of play, course condition and not well managed, definitely would do so. Played this course many times over the course of past years, but the last 2 outings have been very bad. From start to finish (at 9 holes), first they say they had "frost on the ground" so started late (30+min) this is Las Vegas and it doesn't frost anywhere here unless is below 32 degrees not at 45 or 50 degrees, so first bad excuse. Then started, and course conditions are really bad, painted fairways and greens are worst than my fake green grass in my house. Then we get to pace of play, 3.5hrs to get around the first 9 holes, absolutely unacceptable. So I went to the pro shop to let them know of my concerns, and all I got was a "we are sorry"...really? I am sure I wasn't the only player that said something, and all you do is say sorry. No complementary rain check for at least range balls!!!
And to add, the range mats need replacement badly, and let players hit from grass.
Needless to say, very bad experience, back to back, will not be back until real changes happen. Fire the manager and get a new one, this was ridiculous.

Great Track
What a great track had a hole in one on number four. Associate inside to hooked me up with a towel and ball mark at cost. Really happy with the service and overall experience thank you

Mediocre Experience
First time we played we didn't finish because they had put a big group ahead and we were 6 hours late on the 12th when the sun went down. No concessions or apologies offered.
The second time went better, under 5 hours. However, many of.the greens were unplayable due to poor agronomy. One temp green. That's reasonable given the time of year, but the course is just average...waste of water hazards is an example of the over wrought pretensions. Poor practice facilities, no chipping.area, worn carpet for driving range. Staff wasn't exactly hostile, but not really engaging either. I noticed that we had to wait a couple.of times to be addressed while they talked to each other. No noticeable ranger to maintain pace of play.
The track is challenging but fair and this could be a really fun course if there was a little more attention to the details. Again, just played it twice a year apart, but again this was the least enjoyable experience.
Hi There, thank you for sharing your experience with us. We are sorry to hear we did not meet your expectations. We will use your feedback as a tool to improve and hope to see you again soon.
Extremely slow
Took 45 min to complete the 1st 2 holes. Never saw the Marshall. Called the shop to ask if someone could speed up pace of play and got an ok. Again, never saw the Marshall. Took 4 hours to play 12 holes. So we packed up and left. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone.
Hello, we appreciate your feedback and sincerely apologize for the slow pace of play you experienced over the holiday weekend. Your feedback is invaluable, and we’re looking into our pace of play and Marshall presence to ensure improvements. Thank you for sharing your experience; it helps us enhance the overall enjoyment for all our guests. We hope you'll give us another chance in the future.

Hour delay for frost was a bummer. Pace of play was to be expected slow after that. Overall great day, first visit for my group and I over here in summerlin area. Will be back.
