Las Vegas National Golf Course
About
A traditional golf course in the land of faux waterfalls, shooting fountains and mountains, Las Vegas National Golf Club is actually part site of Tiger Woods' first win on the PGA Tour.
Las Vegas National was part of the rotation of the Las Vegas Invitational when Woods broke onto the Tour in 1996. Tiger actually won the Las Vegas Invitational (then a 90-hole, multi-course event) with a final round 64 on the private TPC at Summerlin track, erasing David Love III's four-stroke lead.
Average hackers will find a course with plenty of trees in the desert and five inventive par 3s that give National much of its character. This isn't desert golf. It's old school golf with palm trees and sand.
It is also very close to the Strip, just a few turns and about a 10-minute drive away. The area's built up around it with fast-food shops, but the Rat Pack era style remains alive within Las Vegas National's grounds.
"As you pull into the lot at Las Vegas National, the sense of the sixties is evident in the rectangular pastel colored stucco clubhouse that might have seemed modernistic back then, but now is a charming reminder of an architecturally dated style," TravelGolf.com writer Doug Saunders said.

Good value for what we got!
Greens a little bumpy but didn't affect results much - Fairways Ok - had to roll the ball several times to get a reasonable lie - bunkers were like concrete - like playing off the cart path! Worst part - we were behind a 5 some for the first nine - waited on every shot.
All in all - a good value for the $50 Green Fee.
A must play
If you are coming to Vegas to play golf then you must play Las Vegas National. The history alone is worth the visit. The staff is very friendly. The course layout is PGA style. The past celebrity homes are vintage. If you want to play a course once shared by Nicklaus, Palmer, Crenshaw, Nelson and where Tiger won his first PGA come and play.
vegas national
Great price to play a legendary course. The staff was amazing and made you feel like a member. Course was in great shape but greens a little slow. Overall great experience and a fun round of golf. I'll be back.
great deal
this is what Vegas was like back in the day. great views of some old time houses and strip hotels in the background. course played great.bb
A couple of notes
This course was generally a good deal. The history was interesting, and the course is not too hard. The condition was fair- the fairways were good, as was the rough. The greens were certainly playable, but not really lush. The sand in the traps is different than anywhere I've played. The sand is really coarse. The traps were not well maintained and therefore your club would bounce as though it was concrete.
The rental clubs were good, and the staff was quite accommodating. One note, since this is in Vegas, be careful that GolfNow isn't quoting you the residents' rate. I had to pay more because I was a tourist and Golfnow's quoted rate was for residents, but not distinguished as such.
A classic course
Being from California, it was my first time playing Las Vegas National. I was lucky to be paired with a local, Mike, who is a regular here. He was a great guy and made my round much more enjoyable. The course was in good condition. The fairways were a little dry, but very playable. The greens were very good, with true rolls. I was very impressed with all of the personnel, who treated me, a first timer, as if I was a regular. The course was not crowded, so we got around in a little over 4 hours.
This course is full of Las Vegas history. Some of the tee boxes even have signs that point out some of the homes along the course and the "famous" people who lived there. A visit to the "museum" in the bar is a must. The $1.00 first beer is not bad either.
One of the best in Vegas!!!
Love this course, Old trees, Water and a old school walking layout. Used a Golf Board so that just added to the fun.
Great time
Layout is great. Condition of course is pretty good. Bunkers are poor. Sand is really coarse and thin in places. Played as twosome and caught a couple of groups but played through within a hole or two. Less than 3 hours. Staff was great. Definitely play again
Just ok
Layout is decent. Played the back tees and still didn’t find it too tough. Main thing is the poana sprouts on the greens make them very bumpy. They just don’t look and play very healthy. I’d rather play Chimera greens.. Overall decent if you can get a rate in the $25-35 range.
Beware non residents
We booked on Golf Now and found out at the course that they would not honor our Golf Now rate because we were not Nevada residents. First time ever this has happened to us. After some negotiating we paid a higher price and were able to play. The course is surrounded with nostalgia and history and we are glad we were able to play. The starter was outstanding briefing us on some of the history of the area and the golf course as we waited to play. We thoroughly enjoyed the course. Very fair course and the greens will give you fits.
Great historic course
Had a great time playing this course will definitely be back. Great old school course wit cool history like house from the movie casino and u can play vs tigers score when he won tourney here in 90s. Its very forgiving yet challenging at the same time. Snack bar and food options not very good tho
Tough but fair entrainment golf
The tee box informational plaques were great. Course was in great condition when I played. The greens are tough to read they seemed to break uphill and were slower than expected. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Good experience I will play here again.
Great day
First time at LV National. Great from bag drop to packing them back in the car. Tees off early enough that I Did a replay for 30$ which is a great deal. Only negative I had was snack bar wasn’t open and was an ordeal to order a sandwich with the cart girl. Greens a little slower than I would have thought but overall great course and great 36 holes.
