Las Vegas National Golf Course
About
A traditional golf course in the land of faux waterfalls, shooting fountains and mountains, Las Vegas National Golf Club is actually part site of Tiger Woods' first win on the PGA Tour.
Las Vegas National was part of the rotation of the Las Vegas Invitational when Woods broke onto the Tour in 1996. Tiger actually won the Las Vegas Invitational (then a 90-hole, multi-course event) with a final round 64 on the private TPC at Summerlin track, erasing David Love III's four-stroke lead.
Average hackers will find a course with plenty of trees in the desert and five inventive par 3s that give National much of its character. This isn't desert golf. It's old school golf with palm trees and sand.
It is also very close to the Strip, just a few turns and about a 10-minute drive away. The area's built up around it with fast-food shops, but the Rat Pack era style remains alive within Las Vegas National's grounds.
"As you pull into the lot at Las Vegas National, the sense of the sixties is evident in the rectangular pastel colored stucco clubhouse that might have seemed modernistic back then, but now is a charming reminder of an architecturally dated style," TravelGolf.com writer Doug Saunders said.

GREAT DAY AT NATIONAL
Great round at National! The price was right with one of Golf Now’s Hot Deals and the weather was perfect. 75 to 80 and no clouds. Nice little breezes too. Started right on time and paired with a nice couple from Buffalo New York and a local single. Had to share cart with single but turned out to be a nice guy and good golfer so made round more fun then riding solo.
Course was in great shape and the pace was good with waiting only on a hand full of holes. Greens were a little tricky then I recall from previous rounds at this gorgeous and historic track. Even though its lined with houses that are interesting mid century and others that could use a little work the fairways are generous and remind me of old school track I use to play in Los Angeles. The terrain is different than most Las Vegas desert tracks with no “natural desert environment areas” and has plenty of trees and flush fairways. Watch the short putts they can be deceiving and roll different then an initial read.
This track is worth a visit anytime one wants good value golf and challenging golf near downtown and the Strip. Will visit again and enjoy again I am sure.
Nice course
Nice course , very welcoming just need to clear out the rubbish from the waterways across the course.
Very nice
Second time playing here. The grass is so green and beautiful its hard to believe its real. The course layout is actually not that hard and the fairways are pretty open with not a lot of water.
I defiantly recommend this course.
The main negatives are that the houses around it are pretty dilapidated and the creeks are full of trash. You have to ignore that and look at the fairways, greens and course itself. Its that's only on a couple of holes that it is real bad looking off course so to speak.
Perfect day for golf
Excellent hot dogs. Good cart service. Challenging course. Tough greens
LV National
I thoroughly enjoyed playing there. The staff was helpful and friendly. Course was In great shape. Greens were excellent!
Not Bad
An older course but worth the price. Despite some reviews that made me think twice about playing there, the course has a challenging layout. Greens were my only complaint. Too slow.
Staff all around the facility was friendly. I would go back, as long as I get a little discount off published prices.
Not worth the money. The course has potential to be great. But conditions were very poor. Don’t waste your money on this course.
First Time
Excellent course located near the Las Vegas Strip. Surrounded by old homes whose owners were some of the best known people of the 1960s & 70s. Bunkers were filled with sand, fairways were well manicured, greens were excellent. Hidden gem, we will play it again. Loved the brats and the dogs on the grill at the turn - nice touch!
Need to get the city to clean up the trash of the homeless in the creek bed!
Surprisingly Fun Round
Was skeptical of an older course in the city but decided to give it a try based on other reviews. A refreshing change from desert courses this one was in "good" shape for a muni especially if you paid the resident rate of $49. The non-resident rate of $139 makes it poor value though I am sure they get it from visitors constrained by time. Greens were much slower than nearby desert designs and fairways well turfed for the most part. The history of the neighborhood was interesting though pretty run down currently. Staff was friendly and helpful
Fun and fair course
I'll play this course again. Greens were almost flawless and fast. Bunkers were maintained perfect.
Fun place to play
Lots of history and a good track. Everyone should play here once.
Fun course
for February the greens were lightning fast, overall a fun experience would play it again
