Las Vegas National Golf Course
About
A traditional golf course in the land of faux waterfalls, shooting fountains and mountains, Las Vegas National Golf Club is actually part site of Tiger Woods' first win on the PGA Tour.
Las Vegas National was part of the rotation of the Las Vegas Invitational when Woods broke onto the Tour in 1996. Tiger actually won the Las Vegas Invitational (then a 90-hole, multi-course event) with a final round 64 on the private TPC at Summerlin track, erasing David Love III's four-stroke lead.
Average hackers will find a course with plenty of trees in the desert and five inventive par 3s that give National much of its character. This isn't desert golf. It's old school golf with palm trees and sand.
It is also very close to the Strip, just a few turns and about a 10-minute drive away. The area's built up around it with fast-food shops, but the Rat Pack era style remains alive within Las Vegas National's grounds.
"As you pull into the lot at Las Vegas National, the sense of the sixties is evident in the rectangular pastel colored stucco clubhouse that might have seemed modernistic back then, but now is a charming reminder of an architecturally dated style," TravelGolf.com writer Doug Saunders said.

Great fairways
Early morning tournament combined with a frost delay caused our round to start about an hour late. That stuff happens. I suggested to the pro shop staff that a couple buckets of complementary range balls would ease our pain of waiting, LOL. Not a chance, which I thought was a little strange. The lady in the lounge made us 4 great Caesars to go and we headed outside . starter and outside staff were awesome. Understanding that they were running behind they delivered 4 large buckets of free range balls and told us they would get us out on the course as quick as possible. Range and practice facility were fine. Once we got playing thought the golf course had a great layout. Fairways were awesome.Bunkers had great sand. Greens were very slow but we had played bears best previous day and they were lightning . the best 4 par 3's on one course in my recent memory. Pace of play was fine under the circumstances. Short cab ride from Las Vegas strip hotels priced very reasonably . I would play again.
Nostalgic
This is one of the oldest golf courses in Las Vegas and it is so challenging. The staff are very friendly. You have to play here
Late Start but got in 16 Holes
Saw a great deal on Golf Now for $10.00 plus booking fee and hd to grab it. Glad I did. Arrived at ourse 20 mins before 1:00 tee time but was told of frost delay from that morning so had to wait 20 extra mins.
Once stated round went great at a good pace. Started off on 10th for times sake and worked out great. Greens were in good shape with very few ball marks and rolling fast and true. The greens also held most well hit approach shots but a couple rejected ones that should have held.
Was paired with a couple of out of towners who also enjoyed the course. Good deal for the money I would have gladly paid more. Will return!
Fun day despite insane winds
My wife and I played for the first time. Got paired up with two guys, Mike and Mark. Could not have been nicer guys and made for a really fun round. The wind was beyond howling, but it did help my handicap not go down
Great Course, Close to the Strip
I played Las Vegas National on my first trip to LV and really enjoyed it. The course was in great shape and the staff were spectacular. Though the course is older it may be the most storied course in the area. The layout is pretty simple which makes for a nice and easy stroll with great greens for good scoring opportunities. We really enjoyed the National and will be back.
Full of history
This is a course with lots of great history, on some of the holes they have signs explaining who lived in what houses along the course and some great pictures in the clubhouse. The course is an easy to play course and everyone one of the staff were very friendly. Would play this again, good value for the money.
Good course
The tee times were backed up and confusing, ultimately it got worked out.
Excellent Surprise
A gem in the center of Las Vegas. Staff very courteous and friendly. Fairways and greens were outstanding for Thanksgiving time! Challenging, but fun layout for a senior golfer!! Would happily play again on next trip.
Historic
First off, pro shop staff and cart staff were super, the starter was a complete dick to my group and the group prior to me. That said, the course was GREAT and I will play again the next time I'm in town. I lived on that course when I was about 7 and saw many players like Jack and Arnold playing there. Also, there were many stars and LV elite living on the course back then and there are tributes you can read while you are waiting to tee off, nice touch. When it was called the Sahara CC, you would be having lunch there and you never knew what pro athlete or star would be sitting next to you. The trees are much bigger now, but the sand traps seem a little smaller. Every fairway, tee box, and green was perfect and I was glad to see they continue to take care of this historic course. If the historians did a little more research, they could provide even more reading while you are waiting and maybe put a few pics out on the course of the great players that graced the course.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Enjoyed this course. The staff was extremely friendly. Would highly recommend.
In good shape
Course in good, snack bar not up and running at the turn (8:20) for some reason. Pace of play horrible! Terrible etiquitter by local seniors on that course, starts by playing the proper t-box,move up,if you don't move up now, when will you?
Great course, challenging and greens in good shape with a good prati e facilities.
Las Vegas National
Greens were in great shape, but a bit slow.
Enjoyed the signage showing the celebrities who once lived there.
Old style course
Course was in great shape. Played hard because of windy conditions. Much history because the rat pack used to play there back in the day. Very accommodating.
Hidden gem - Old school course in great shape
Just walked onto this course, and it was a pleasant surprise. It's an old school course with a rich history, but everything from the range to the parking lot is in clean, pristine shape. Course was fun...lots of twists and turns but definitely playable and aside from several holes with ponds and creeks (some hidden), you can definitely go low if you're on the right tee box. Nice touch was the signs on every hole describing the nearby houses, who owned them "in the day" and a hold-by-hole account of Tiger's winning round there in 1996 (so you could compare your score to his ?). Great location (near the strip) and aside from the now older, run down houses along the course, it was a great round.
