Las Vegas National Golf Course
About
A traditional golf course in the land of faux waterfalls, shooting fountains and mountains, Las Vegas National Golf Club is actually part site of Tiger Woods' first win on the PGA Tour.
Las Vegas National was part of the rotation of the Las Vegas Invitational when Woods broke onto the Tour in 1996. Tiger actually won the Las Vegas Invitational (then a 90-hole, multi-course event) with a final round 64 on the private TPC at Summerlin track, erasing David Love III's four-stroke lead.
Average hackers will find a course with plenty of trees in the desert and five inventive par 3s that give National much of its character. This isn't desert golf. It's old school golf with palm trees and sand.
It is also very close to the Strip, just a few turns and about a 10-minute drive away. The area's built up around it with fast-food shops, but the Rat Pack era style remains alive within Las Vegas National's grounds.
"As you pull into the lot at Las Vegas National, the sense of the sixties is evident in the rectangular pastel colored stucco clubhouse that might have seemed modernistic back then, but now is a charming reminder of an architecturally dated style," TravelGolf.com writer Doug Saunders said.

Excellent Surprise
A gem in the center of Las Vegas. Staff very courteous and friendly. Fairways and greens were outstanding for Thanksgiving time! Challenging, but fun layout for a senior golfer!! Would happily play again on next trip.
Historic
First off, pro shop staff and cart staff were super, the starter was a complete dick to my group and the group prior to me. That said, the course was GREAT and I will play again the next time I'm in town. I lived on that course when I was about 7 and saw many players like Jack and Arnold playing there. Also, there were many stars and LV elite living on the course back then and there are tributes you can read while you are waiting to tee off, nice touch. When it was called the Sahara CC, you would be having lunch there and you never knew what pro athlete or star would be sitting next to you. The trees are much bigger now, but the sand traps seem a little smaller. Every fairway, tee box, and green was perfect and I was glad to see they continue to take care of this historic course. If the historians did a little more research, they could provide even more reading while you are waiting and maybe put a few pics out on the course of the great players that graced the course.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Enjoyed this course. The staff was extremely friendly. Would highly recommend.
In good shape
Course in good, snack bar not up and running at the turn (8:20) for some reason. Pace of play horrible! Terrible etiquitter by local seniors on that course, starts by playing the proper t-box,move up,if you don't move up now, when will you?
Great course, challenging and greens in good shape with a good prati e facilities.
Las Vegas National
Greens were in great shape, but a bit slow.
Enjoyed the signage showing the celebrities who once lived there.
Old style course
Course was in great shape. Played hard because of windy conditions. Much history because the rat pack used to play there back in the day. Very accommodating.
Hidden gem - Old school course in great shape
Just walked onto this course, and it was a pleasant surprise. It's an old school course with a rich history, but everything from the range to the parking lot is in clean, pristine shape. Course was fun...lots of twists and turns but definitely playable and aside from several holes with ponds and creeks (some hidden), you can definitely go low if you're on the right tee box. Nice touch was the signs on every hole describing the nearby houses, who owned them "in the day" and a hold-by-hole account of Tiger's winning round there in 1996 (so you could compare your score to his ?). Great location (near the strip) and aside from the now older, run down houses along the course, it was a great round.
Good day
Nice course with interesting history. Nice practice area. Played with a couple locals - great guys.
Excellent traditional style course right off the strip
Old style course with lots of trees and angles. Challenging and fun.
Las Vegas National
Nice older course from the early 60s. Interesting history and the course was in good shape. We enjoyed it but the pace of play was slow.
Great setup
The course, driving range, snack and resturant bar are everything you look for when you go golfing. The men that bring you in and back to your vehicle in the parking lot are a class act.
Awesome golf course fairways are forrgiving greens were a little bit slow however they were in fantastic shape just understanding the past of the golf course unbelievable
Venerable old course still packs a punch.
The National offers a challenging old style, tree lined treat, dog-legged treat for the better players. It has a number of long par threes, and par fives that only the longer players can get home in two. The staff there was very friendly and accommodating. I look forward to my next round there.
First time visit left great impression on us. Check in was smoothe and friendly and then we had lunch at the bar. We can't say enough about the staff from the bartenders to the kitchen staff to the rangers to the golf director. Food was outstanding and the people were even better. Course was a great layout and conditions were very good. After the round , hung out in the lounge where the entire staff made us feel like we were lifetime members. This is as friendly a place that we had ever been.We didn't want to leave but had to catch a flight. WE WILL BE BACK!
(If clam chowder is on the menu, get it.)
RICHIE AND TOM
THE BOYS FROM BOSTON
Nice course, right off the strip
I enjoyed playing LVN. It's right off the strip, and it's traditional rather than desert golf. It's fun and challenging, without being intimidating for an average golfer. We were behind a corporate outing, which slowed us down, but they gave us a free lunch so all is forgiven.
Looks like course was recently fertilized and mauve overseeded. Greens were very slow and bumpy. Pace of play was quite slow, at about 5 1/2 hours.
