Las Vegas National Golf Course
About
A traditional golf course in the land of faux waterfalls, shooting fountains and mountains, Las Vegas National Golf Club is actually part site of Tiger Woods' first win on the PGA Tour.
Las Vegas National was part of the rotation of the Las Vegas Invitational when Woods broke onto the Tour in 1996. Tiger actually won the Las Vegas Invitational (then a 90-hole, multi-course event) with a final round 64 on the private TPC at Summerlin track, erasing David Love III's four-stroke lead.
Average hackers will find a course with plenty of trees in the desert and five inventive par 3s that give National much of its character. This isn't desert golf. It's old school golf with palm trees and sand.
It is also very close to the Strip, just a few turns and about a 10-minute drive away. The area's built up around it with fast-food shops, but the Rat Pack era style remains alive within Las Vegas National's grounds.
"As you pull into the lot at Las Vegas National, the sense of the sixties is evident in the rectangular pastel colored stucco clubhouse that might have seemed modernistic back then, but now is a charming reminder of an architecturally dated style," TravelGolf.com writer Doug Saunders said.

Venerable old course still packs a punch.
The National offers a challenging old style, tree lined treat, dog-legged treat for the better players. It has a number of long par threes, and par fives that only the longer players can get home in two. The staff there was very friendly and accommodating. I look forward to my next round there.
First time visit left great impression on us. Check in was smoothe and friendly and then we had lunch at the bar. We can't say enough about the staff from the bartenders to the kitchen staff to the rangers to the golf director. Food was outstanding and the people were even better. Course was a great layout and conditions were very good. After the round , hung out in the lounge where the entire staff made us feel like we were lifetime members. This is as friendly a place that we had ever been.We didn't want to leave but had to catch a flight. WE WILL BE BACK!
(If clam chowder is on the menu, get it.)

Nice course, right off the strip
I enjoyed playing LVN. It's right off the strip, and it's traditional rather than desert golf. It's fun and challenging, without being intimidating for an average golfer. We were behind a corporate outing, which slowed us down, but they gave us a free lunch so all is forgiven.
Looks like course was recently fertilized and mauve overseeded. Greens were very slow and bumpy. Pace of play was quite slow, at about 5 1/2 hours.
Good course, price is right on golf now
Superb course for the money. One of the best courses during its hay day.
Nice course
Alot of history at this course. The fairways and greens were in good shape- some of the green were a bit lumpy due to over seading but not bad. The thing I enjoyed was the pace of play- four of us finished in just under four hours.
The par 3's are long which will challenge you if you have a hook or slice. Most of the water danger is on the right so right handed hitters who slice will need to be aware of the danger.
time slow
the course was great played with two great guys very fine day great price pace was very slow over all nice course
Courses has great history
Everything about his course is great
Course has a lot of great history and monster par 3’s
Just about the greatest round of golf in Las Vegas for the price
Great course with interesting history
Recently opened after over-seeding. Course was in great shape, greens a teeny bit fuzzy but understandable considering. Interesting reading about local history throughout the course.
Course wasn't great shape due to closing the next day
This historic course was getting ready to close the next day for overseeding, etc.
Hence the conditions were less than adequate.
I'd give it another chance though, if I were return under different circumstances.
I will be back
Great fun course. Greens and fareways in great shape. Lots of history. Pace of play good. Very friendly accommodating staff. Excellent golf course. I will be back
Labor Day at National
Used to play this club years ago when it was on a sports card. This was the first time in about 10 years. Still an incredible course. Historical! The GM has put up signs on many of the tee boxes, explaining celebrities former homes along the course. That is an excellent touch. Vivien, our on-course beverage lady, was exceptional, as was Donna in the bar after the round. The course was in magnificent shape.
Lots of history this course
Hot deals are great for price. Greens slow but smooth. Rough is fair. Pace is good! Will play here again!
The Better Las Vegas Golf Club
I was expecting a well groomed golf course worthy of a Golf Club and it is Las Vegas after all. To my disappointment it was not what I thought, Many parts of fairway are bald and the greens are slow and although your putts may roll the breaks are unpredictable. Some bunkers are more like dry cement but inconsistent. But for $25 Hot Deal I can't really complain but it is not something to brag about either. It is enough to say "I played the Las Vegas National Golf Club" and give them a shrug of the shoulder when anyone asks "how was it?' That way you preserve the Las Vegas mystique.
Fivesomes?
I thought the groups of fives they let out was going to make things slow, but it was a foursome that the Marshall would not do anything about, at the end a full 2 holes behind five some.
