Las Vegas National Golf Course
About
A traditional golf course in the land of faux waterfalls, shooting fountains and mountains, Las Vegas National Golf Club is actually part site of Tiger Woods' first win on the PGA Tour.
Las Vegas National was part of the rotation of the Las Vegas Invitational when Woods broke onto the Tour in 1996. Tiger actually won the Las Vegas Invitational (then a 90-hole, multi-course event) with a final round 64 on the private TPC at Summerlin track, erasing David Love III's four-stroke lead.
Average hackers will find a course with plenty of trees in the desert and five inventive par 3s that give National much of its character. This isn't desert golf. It's old school golf with palm trees and sand.
It is also very close to the Strip, just a few turns and about a 10-minute drive away. The area's built up around it with fast-food shops, but the Rat Pack era style remains alive within Las Vegas National's grounds.
"As you pull into the lot at Las Vegas National, the sense of the sixties is evident in the rectangular pastel colored stucco clubhouse that might have seemed modernistic back then, but now is a charming reminder of an architecturally dated style," TravelGolf.com writer Doug Saunders said.

Course was in great shape even though it was the day after rain Definitely will be going back
Good course but...
Good course layout. Pretty challenging. Tight driving holes. However, course played so slow and no ranger in sight to help.
Nice layout at Tigers old track
Nice layout. Friendly staff. I think they need to clean up some of the surrounding areas and garbage in the streams going through the course. Very tacky despite me loving the layout.
OLD FAVORITE
This has always been an old favorite place to play for me. Always will. Lots of history here. Great layout, conditions good.
Fun Golf Course with a Lot of History
I am a 13 handicaper and found the course to be challenging and interesting. Very much enjoyed the monument signs on the course pointing out the various houses along the fairways.
Looking forward to playing the course again.
Good Value
Golf Now hot deal.
Starter was great and let me go out early.
Fairways and greens in great shape.
Good for the price
The price is just perfect ..
Ex- PGA tour stop
Try to find a Vegas course with trees.
Try to play a former PGA tour stop without paying $$$.
Very nice layout.
Good condition with SMOOTH greens.
Nice greens
Older course but the course was in nice shape and the price was right. Pace of play was slow considering everyone had carts and there were no restrictions.
My "A" wedge was stolen
I booked as a single. A bucket of range balls was included with my green fee. After hitting only 2-3 balls, the starter, Al, who hangs out at the driving range pressured me to join another single and go to No. 1 tee immediately, as he wanted to get two other large groups out behind us. In my haste, I forgot to take my A wedge and left it at the spot closest to where the starter hangs out, along with an almost full bucket of range balls. Al should have seen my club lying next to the balls and should have taken a cart to bring me the club. When I returned to starter area, after the first 9 holes, Al was gone and so was my A wedge. Another employee I spoke to did not seem to understand that I would be upset by the loss of the club and did not seem concerned. Matt, in the Pro Shop, was helpful, but I got attitude from everyone else. I got the feeling that this happens alot at this course, so watch your stuff when you play here.
A great experience
An interesting layout and historic golf course. The course was in very good condition. The staff here are great
Nice course but challenging
This course was all around in great shape the staff was excellent . I will be playing here again.
A most pleasant experience
from the parking lot to the first tee, a very professional, courteous and friendly experience. Tee'd off an hour early, course was in excellent shape, we only held ourselves up. Will definitely come back
Nice, established course.
Great deal on Golf Now. Nice older course, plenty challenging & conveniently located near the strip.
Nice Comfortable option for a relaxing round in Vegas
I found myself with a little free time in Vegas and decided to get outside and play. Booked this course on GolfNow for a reasonable rate: Reasonable in that most courses in Vegas double the fees for non-residents, and this one still came out to a reasonable price. Rental clubs were nice and included a new sleeve of balls, and tees. Great breakfast and post round sandwich on-site...quality of food options was surprisingly good with great service. Course was a traditional style layout that winds through an older neighborhood that looked like it had seen better days. But the course was in very good condition and was enjoyable to play. Pace of play was about average for a Friday morning. Yardage was not very well marked, if you are traveling pack your range finder or spend a bit of time guessing, but that is standard for travel golf. Overall this course is a good value and I would recommend it for a casual relaxed day outside in Vegas.
Nice Historic Golf Course
Based on the historic elements of this course it is worth playing, but hidden behind all that is a nice track. I landed a great deal for this course via GolfNow, paying about 1/3 of what a normal non-resident round would have cost me. I was greeted upon arrival, given a cart and range balls, had a quick lunch in the clubhouse, and then was paired with 3 other singles before my booked tee time...so everything prior to teeing off was great.
Course conditions for late October were great. Tee boxes were well manicured and green. Fairways were green, lush, and soft without being mushy. Greens were a little slow, but not to the point where they were frustrating. They rolled well, but putts came up shorter than expected all day. Bunkers were filled with gritty pebbles, and not real sand, but they were consistent.
Course layout was pretty straightforward. Some short par 4's, some long par 4's, there was 1 long par 3...overall a good layout for a course built in the 1960's.
As for the historic elements, this course is full of nostalgia. The Rat Pack used to play here, I mean, what more do you need?! A scene from 'Casino' was filmed here! The major Tours have played here! On the horizon of many holes you can see the Stratosphere Hotel and the High Roller Ferris Wheel. On others you can see the mountains. I kept thinking, if only the trees on this course could talk....imagine what THEY have seen going on...LOL!
Lastly, this course allows you to rent the single person hoverboards rather than a cart. Pretty cool way to zip around the course, so you may want to give it a try. Ironic that an older course has embraced the cutting edge technology....
Sure there are other nicer options in Vegas, both on and off the Strip, but Las Vegas National is a must try at least once.
