Las Vegas National Golf Course
About
A traditional golf course in the land of faux waterfalls, shooting fountains and mountains, Las Vegas National Golf Club is actually part site of Tiger Woods' first win on the PGA Tour.
Las Vegas National was part of the rotation of the Las Vegas Invitational when Woods broke onto the Tour in 1996. Tiger actually won the Las Vegas Invitational (then a 90-hole, multi-course event) with a final round 64 on the private TPC at Summerlin track, erasing David Love III's four-stroke lead.
Average hackers will find a course with plenty of trees in the desert and five inventive par 3s that give National much of its character. This isn't desert golf. It's old school golf with palm trees and sand.
It is also very close to the Strip, just a few turns and about a 10-minute drive away. The area's built up around it with fast-food shops, but the Rat Pack era style remains alive within Las Vegas National's grounds.
"As you pull into the lot at Las Vegas National, the sense of the sixties is evident in the rectangular pastel colored stucco clubhouse that might have seemed modernistic back then, but now is a charming reminder of an architecturally dated style," TravelGolf.com writer Doug Saunders said.

Challenging features
Great course to play in Las Vegas.
Retro round
Course not in the best of shape, wouldn't take much to make it great..greens were bumpy. Location is so convenient, why not raise the rate a bit and invest that in maintain economic and make it a great course, you can sense how good it was back in the days but now they treat the course like a muni..however the service was excellent..the pro shop can use some merchandise or a merchandiser , given all the history and tradition this course should be treated as a jeweled landmark.
Las Vegas
Best of Vegas, Good condition, convenient location
Good place to work on your game.
The course is always in pretty good shape. Too pricey for it to be a local course. They hit you with the out of towner's rates. Don't know why the city of Las Vegas make these courses charge so much for the out of town visitors. It is a rip off. There are so many other local courses you can play for cheaper.
Not the old days anymore
The days of Sammy Davis Jr and the Rat Pack holding court at LVN are no more. The course resembles nothing of a course that used to host a PGA Tour event. Pace of play was very slow, and greens were bumpy and hard. This place definitely feels like old Vegas, but all the luster has worn off. The history of the course is cool, but that's about it.
Alright
The course was in decent condition. It was a very windy and cold day. The course was mentally challenging from a course management perspective. Would like to play again in conditions where winds weren't blowing at 20+ and the temperature is above the 45 degree mark.
The major detraction is the outside influence on the course. Read other views about homes along course being from a different era and was questioning why that even matters for golf. Well, trash in the creek reminds you of a transient's refuge. The homes have dilapidated fences with little to no lawn care. Did get to see transient relieving himself.
If you block out everything outside the fences, then a decent track.
Las Vegas National
the only think I didn't like about the course was the par 3 hole are extremely long. when you have to use driver and 3wood on par threes they are too long
Fun times
Awesome course! Historical venue! Had breakfast in the bar and all of the memorabilia is chilling. Knowing I'm sitting in the seat where the greats sat, makes me excited to play there
poor condition
Great location, great history, good layout, but in poor condition. I hope some day that changes.
Looks easy but plays difficult
Wide fairways in very good condition. Holes paint a picture. Well groomed and placed traps make holding firm greens tricky. Greens are large and fast and true. Par 3's are not easy.
Golf Boards!
When my wife and I were looking for places to play on our trip to Vegas, we were looking for an experience. We came across Las Vegas National which marketed their Golf Boards.
After the first few holes we thought we would only be able to use them for 9 holes. They were murder on your arms... but at around the 4th hole we started to get the hang of it and use our body more.
When we played it was cart path only due to the recent over seeding, with the golf boards we could at least ride in the rough.
Golf course was in great condition and you catch a few glimpses of the strip hotels to remind you where you really are.
Poor condition
Very disappointed with the course condition, fairways and tee boxes were a disgrace. Layout was good some excellent par 3 holes but overall due to condition of course would not recommend to play it especially at full rate prices. Having played Bali Hai 2 days before it would suggest that course maintenance not up to standard.
Pass on this
Historic course that has seen its better days. With so many courses to choose from in Vegas, for this price, which is not cheap, there are much better choices. Houses around the course perimeter are old and run down. Played as a twosome, front nine was quick but then ran into the back end of outing, which caused the back nine to come to a stall. Actually walked off the course after 11 holes realizing the back nine was on a three hour pace
historical golf course
the course is flat with some water hazards
Main problem is too close of airport so a lot of noise
not challenging
Good course close to strip
I wanted to play a course that was not a 50.00 cab ride to and from, and didn't want to spend 500.00 at Wynn,so Las Vegas National looked like a good fit. I was paired with 3 locals who were very friendly and really enjoyed my round. The course has a great deal of history with many celebraties having owned houses on the course. The greens were nice but pretty slow because of the rain overnight. All in all a nice experience, and would play there again. Oh, and the staff was friendly also.
Great Course! Highlight of my trip!
I prepaid and was paired with two LV residents. We had a blast! The staff was super friendly and accommodating! Since I had to check out of my room earlier that day and I was on my way to the airport, the staff held my luggage. The course itself was awesome! Great course if you are a novice golfer looking for the opportunity to play while in LV. I definitely want to return!
Not worth it.
We have muni's in Michigan that puts this place to shame. I played with 2 locals who said they were only charged $39 while I was cleaned for $79.
fair
Greens were fine, fairways were poor, im guessing they were letting it go before overseed. Bunkers were pathetic. Normally its an ok course.
