Las Vegas National Golf Course
About
A traditional golf course in the land of faux waterfalls, shooting fountains and mountains, Las Vegas National Golf Club is actually part site of Tiger Woods' first win on the PGA Tour.
Las Vegas National was part of the rotation of the Las Vegas Invitational when Woods broke onto the Tour in 1996. Tiger actually won the Las Vegas Invitational (then a 90-hole, multi-course event) with a final round 64 on the private TPC at Summerlin track, erasing David Love III's four-stroke lead.
Average hackers will find a course with plenty of trees in the desert and five inventive par 3s that give National much of its character. This isn't desert golf. It's old school golf with palm trees and sand.
It is also very close to the Strip, just a few turns and about a 10-minute drive away. The area's built up around it with fast-food shops, but the Rat Pack era style remains alive within Las Vegas National's grounds.
"As you pull into the lot at Las Vegas National, the sense of the sixties is evident in the rectangular pastel colored stucco clubhouse that might have seemed modernistic back then, but now is a charming reminder of an architecturally dated style," TravelGolf.com writer Doug Saunders said.

Old School Fun
This is a really great place to play. You can almost feel the Rat Pack playing up ahead of you. Upgrade to the Golfboards. They make the whole experience a lot of fun.
Course has seen better days
No notice of very recent aeration until checking in to play. I avoided other courses because I had aeration notice. Older course that plays like a municipal course.
Not overly challenging and the claim to fame is that the movie Casino was partly shot there. I would not recommend this course to plan to play again.
its not the TPC but not too bad..
It was hot the day we played (102) but the course was in pretty good shape, greens were slower than I'm use to but not bad. Greens were pretty tough, a lot of them sat sideways perpendicular to fairway, tough... I didn't bring my sticks so had to rent them, rentals were pricey but fairly new taylor mades.
Classic
A beautiful example of the great classic course design. You need to play it.
Get Away
First of all when i showed up at the club House ,They Never told me That They were doing maintenance on the front nine and that we were to play the back twice.i learned about it from the starter.
We Went on anyway to find a course in condition under average.when We made the turn They booked too many people without a Marshall on the course so the pace of play became a nightmare...So we decided to leave after 12 holes.
This place is a joke
Refreshing change of pace
This was a very enjoyable round of golf. I was paired with a staff member from the club and another regular golfer. We played in less than 4 hours with little waiting on the tees. The course was a parkland course which was a nice change of pace from the desert courses in the area. It was in fairly good condition although not prestine like in its hay day as a regular rotation on the PGA Tour. Greens were a little slow, but a great layout.
Memorial Weekend
Started at 2:40pm. For a Friday before the Memorial Weekend, it wasn't crowded at all. Played as a three some. No one ahead to slow us down and no one behind us pushing our stool in. Cloud cover throughout the round making it perfect except for the strong winds on two holes in the middle of the round. I thought that the $79/player at that time is on the high side maybe because it's close to the strip. More affordable than Bali Hai and Wynn.
Great Experience
The coarse was very well maintained, and a great value. I expected to pay more in Las Vegas , but with Golf Now it was very affordable. I would recommend to others !!
Pre Warnings
Had the Staff warned of a tournament that was started on the Back Nine I would have played Bali Hai!
From 9 played in 2 hrs then the tournament stopped us dead in tracks
The course did refund the Cost!
Nice course
Arrived and was met in the parking lot by a cart who took my bags to where my foursome was warming up. I went in and paid and talked to Brian a very nice gentleman who let me know the green conditions and how the rate of play was. Hit a few balls on the range and was pleasantly surprised when the starter told us we had 10 minutes as the party in front of us was on the tee box. Promptly at 10:10 we hit off. Never had to wait nor ever felt like we were being pushed. Long par 3's and lot's of long challenging holes. Only complaint was that the greens were very hard, I looked to fix any divot holes and there wasn't one on 18 greens. The greens were hard and had no grip. Sand in the bunkers could use a renewal, it also was a little hard.It was a good day overall with good friends, nice weather and a very fun course.
fair value course
Condition was alright, too many non golfers trying to play and holding up.
Facility has seen better times but still good.
Nice course
Close to strip. Challenging but fair. Enjoyed my round here.
Decent course
Fairways were in good shape. Pretty small greens. Was a nice contrast to the desert courses I had played the previous 2 days. All things considered I had a very good time. Pace was slow so I played the back 9 twice.
Enjoyable course
This is the course that Tiger first won as a pro so that was cool. The front 9 from the white tees is long for a hacker like myself. Back was a few hundred yards shorter. Course was in good shape, greens very fast. It seems each green had at least 2-3 big sandtraps surrounding them. Accuracy is important. There are also several holes where water comes into play. I played three courses trip, Legacy, Wildhorse and this one. This was the best of the three. Wildhorse I would not recommend, Legacy was good but slow. I was paired with another single and we finished in just under 3 1/2 hours (A foursome let us play through at 12). I would strongly recommend playing here just for the cool factor and that the rat pack use to hang there.
Great Course For The Money
The first time I played this course a few years ago I played as a single and the weather was more benign. This time I played National two days in a row this time with a playing partner with 25-30 mph winds.Last time I played the white tees (I'm at 71 years), but the course was still a challenge from the gold tees. It, of course, played tougher, but it was still enjoyable. The course was in very good shape and the attendants and starter were very helpful. If you want to play a course that has some challenge but not at the expense of the top courses, this is a good course to play. And it is pretty close to the strip.
Nice course for the money
The fairways were in good shape- some of the T boxes were in rough shape and close to the green you have some areas where the grass in in clumps but overall it was ok. You need some accuracy here as there are houses next to the fairway so one needs to be careful. The par three's are somewhat challenging due to distance. Nice course and I'll play it again. There was no food in the bar though so don't depend on that
enjoyable and a few challenging holes
I was sent out with 3 locals who knew the course well we all were golfing at plus15 or so this day. There are some dry spots but not too bad the greens were slower than i expected with several levels, to keep you honest. I would play again.
For money and proximity to Strip, worth it's!
I come out to Vegas once a year and like to play 4-5 different courses each time. For just $75 (compared to $140+ at most others) this is not a bad value. Staff was very helpful. Range balls included. Layout was fine and course condition was ok. Actually a slope of 133 from whites which make it seem very challenging, but I didn't find it that tough. Overall I was pleased, considering what I had heard from others and glad I played it.
dehydration
I have never played a golf course that does not furnish enough water to keep players hydrated. They did provide 1 bottle per person at the start of the round. It was 90° and after 3 holes we were searching for water jugs on the course ( there were none). At the turn we asked for more water and we were told we could BUY more water if we wanted it The course itself was ok, but being hot, thirsty, and dehydrated did not make playing this course enjoyable at all.
