Las Vegas National Golf Course
About
A traditional golf course in the land of faux waterfalls, shooting fountains and mountains, Las Vegas National Golf Club is actually part site of Tiger Woods' first win on the PGA Tour.
Las Vegas National was part of the rotation of the Las Vegas Invitational when Woods broke onto the Tour in 1996. Tiger actually won the Las Vegas Invitational (then a 90-hole, multi-course event) with a final round 64 on the private TPC at Summerlin track, erasing David Love III's four-stroke lead.
Average hackers will find a course with plenty of trees in the desert and five inventive par 3s that give National much of its character. This isn't desert golf. It's old school golf with palm trees and sand.
It is also very close to the Strip, just a few turns and about a 10-minute drive away. The area's built up around it with fast-food shops, but the Rat Pack era style remains alive within Las Vegas National's grounds.
"As you pull into the lot at Las Vegas National, the sense of the sixties is evident in the rectangular pastel colored stucco clubhouse that might have seemed modernistic back then, but now is a charming reminder of an architecturally dated style," TravelGolf.com writer Doug Saunders said.

Excellent, Friendly Course
First time playing the National and although quite challenging in parts, the course plays well. What singles this place out compared to other Vegas courses is that it really feels like a local course not one built specifically for the tourist/conference market. The clubhouse was friendly with good food and good advice, the Taylor made clubs were in excellent condition and the course marshalls kept things moving along. The course itself was challenging enough but could've probably been more difficult if the water hazards came into play more, it was simple enough to take less club and go round rather than being forced to drive over but that kept my score down. All in all, a great morning at half the price of the main courses on the strip.
Classic track, passes the test of time!
Great facilities, nice efficient staff, course was near perfect tee to green! Greens were fluffy (slow) but held shots and putted true and consistent!! We played the tips (6700+ yds.) so quite a few very tough, long par 4's and some very long par 3's! Plenty of sand, water (lakes, ponds and creeks too!) Loved the whole course, can't wait to play it again! FYI - Don't miss the draft beer special in the clubs bar! Take you 18 hole score card and the 1st beer is your score! My 1st one was only .82 cents! ;)
Comfortable course
Nice course to spend a day at. Great staff nice chipping and putting area
A Jewel in the Desert
In golf there are three conditions that make or break the experience: The course itself , The staff, and the players in your group.
Las Vegas National hit it out of the park again on all fronts. From Randy picking up your bags and getting you set up to Chris at check in, Cory as the Starter and Lisa in the cafe.
The course is in excellent condition even though it's August , and the group I was paired with were fun to play and patient with my game.
It's a great value and a fun challenging course.
Funny note: I think the backyard dogs that are next to some of the tee boxes were trained by their owners to bark during your backswing .
Great day for golf
You will notice the friendly customer service right away. It was afternoon so "Play when you're ready". They also provided a small bucket and some water in the cooler. I had a great golf afternoon at my own pace. You want to be in good position to have a shot into the green. Each hole has a well developed challenge for the average golfer. I'm going back again.

Lots of Sand!
We played immediately following a tournament that went off in the morning, so that may be the reason for the pin placement - but we had to go over sand (which I ended up IN most times) on almost every hole. Still, a fun course!
Old Style Golf
I booked it thru Golf Now so it was an amazing value! The course was in great shape, but the greens had recently been aerified so they had some sand still on them and were a little slow. I knew that before I started , so it was expected.
The course has been there for 50 years, and it is still a solid layout and a fun test.
I like the Vegas golf hall of fame in the clubhouse, and Donna at the 19th hole behind the bar was so awesome! I would play it again for sure!
C Goleno - Las Vegas!
Great Value
This is a fantastic venue that is not mentioned in many of the "Places to Play" like articles on the web. How often do you get to play a course that a major championship winner got his first PGA tour win for $55, much less Tiger Woods's first win. The course was in good shape and very playable for the average golfer.
We will definitely come back to this course on our next trip to Las Vegas!
Good game in Vegas
wanted to play in Vegas, not too far from the strip.
Had a great time, good course, difficult greens,a nd very good company.
Had a great time, would recommend anytime.
Excellent Deal
Got a great deal through GolfNow. Course was in good shape and the weather was fantastic (mid-90's). Asked to push our tee time back so we could watch the end of the Open. No problem. Beverage person was prompt and very personable. Fairways were pretty wide open with a few water hazards sprinkled in. Bunkers (I found a few) were soft and well maintained. Great deal!!
Old
Old and worn out.. The water fountain hasn't worked in 8 years. It's just old and beat
Good time
Great shape.the greens were a bit choppy but in put table conditions.
Well worth the money
My son and I played this course for the first time. It is an older course with a lot of charm. To play a course that former PGA players played tournaments on was nostalgic. Definitely will play it again.
Old School Fun
This is a really great place to play. You can almost feel the Rat Pack playing up ahead of you. Upgrade to the Golfboards. They make the whole experience a lot of fun.
Course has seen better days
No notice of very recent aeration until checking in to play. I avoided other courses because I had aeration notice. Older course that plays like a municipal course.
Not overly challenging and the claim to fame is that the movie Casino was partly shot there. I would not recommend this course to plan to play again.
its not the TPC but not too bad..
It was hot the day we played (102) but the course was in pretty good shape, greens were slower than I'm use to but not bad. Greens were pretty tough, a lot of them sat sideways perpendicular to fairway, tough... I didn't bring my sticks so had to rent them, rentals were pricey but fairly new taylor mades.
Classic
A beautiful example of the great classic course design. You need to play it.
Get Away
First of all when i showed up at the club House ,They Never told me That They were doing maintenance on the front nine and that we were to play the back twice.i learned about it from the starter.
We Went on anyway to find a course in condition under average.when We made the turn They booked too many people without a Marshall on the course so the pace of play became a nightmare...So we decided to leave after 12 holes.
This place is a joke
Refreshing change of pace
This was a very enjoyable round of golf. I was paired with a staff member from the club and another regular golfer. We played in less than 4 hours with little waiting on the tees. The course was a parkland course which was a nice change of pace from the desert courses in the area. It was in fairly good condition although not prestine like in its hay day as a regular rotation on the PGA Tour. Greens were a little slow, but a great layout.
Memorial Weekend
Started at 2:40pm. For a Friday before the Memorial Weekend, it wasn't crowded at all. Played as a three some. No one ahead to slow us down and no one behind us pushing our stool in. Cloud cover throughout the round making it perfect except for the strong winds on two holes in the middle of the round. I thought that the $79/player at that time is on the high side maybe because it's close to the strip. More affordable than Bali Hai and Wynn.
