Las Vegas National Golf Course
About
A traditional golf course in the land of faux waterfalls, shooting fountains and mountains, Las Vegas National Golf Club is actually part site of Tiger Woods' first win on the PGA Tour.
Las Vegas National was part of the rotation of the Las Vegas Invitational when Woods broke onto the Tour in 1996. Tiger actually won the Las Vegas Invitational (then a 90-hole, multi-course event) with a final round 64 on the private TPC at Summerlin track, erasing David Love III's four-stroke lead.
Average hackers will find a course with plenty of trees in the desert and five inventive par 3s that give National much of its character. This isn't desert golf. It's old school golf with palm trees and sand.
It is also very close to the Strip, just a few turns and about a 10-minute drive away. The area's built up around it with fast-food shops, but the Rat Pack era style remains alive within Las Vegas National's grounds.
"As you pull into the lot at Las Vegas National, the sense of the sixties is evident in the rectangular pastel colored stucco clubhouse that might have seemed modernistic back then, but now is a charming reminder of an architecturally dated style," TravelGolf.com writer Doug Saunders said.

Can't go wrong with the value
For someone that normally shoots a 100 to 110... this is the perfect course. This is the 3rd time I'm playing this course and it never disappoints. The only issue I had was being rushed by the starter and made us feel like we were running behind. By the time we're halfway through the first hole I realized we were much earlier than our scheduled tee time and my partner never got to properly warm up because of that. Other than that I'll def be back... for the price you can't go wrong.
nice layout
I enjoyed the course, I teamed up with a local golfer and his friend which was helpful, the greens were nice, the fairways could have been a little better, the layout of the course suited me fine, Elevated greens were nice. overall I was happy to have played here. The staff were excellent.
disappointment
Green was too slow fairway has many dead spot that not rewarding good drive. For that condition of the course money was not worth it
worth the trip
enjoyed playing the course and would like to go back now that I know the layout and know where not to hit the ball. They had new rides for singles, its called golf boards. Pretty cool. oversize skateboard with 4 wheels. put your bag in front of steering column, jump on and go
very good condition to play
Overall very good condition. Fairway is fair to good condition. Very good putting green. Very good price through Golf Now.com.
This course has a lot in common with the rat pac. All are gone
My son and I arrived at 10:50 for a 12:00 tee time. Got breakfast, very good. At 11:30 went to driving range to hit balls. Called to tee at 11:40. They made a point of saying how strict they were about tee times. No practice putting and just a couple of warm up shots. Once we got on the course, noticed they had put out a couple of single groups behind us. Singles, they didn't even join them up.
The course is a great old school lay-out. I kept thinking of how it was when the Rat Pack roamed the fairways. Now, they really need a Greens-keeper. Someone who knows what fairways and greens are. This could be really great. But as it is now, don't waste your time.
Not worth the Money
Here's the deal, back in the day, this was probably the place to play. Now, I wouldn't bother. The course was in poor condition, the greens were sandy and little green to them. It took forever to play. A single before us hit into the group in front of her, she hit multiple balls, to the ranger, told the starter, nothing done. The starter sent singles and twosomes out regardless of the time booked to just slow down play. Poor planning. We played 4 other courses in the Vegas area. They were better courses for less money. Don't be fooled by the past and look for other courses to play at the same money.
Golfboard
The course is pretty straightforward. Not many surprises. They have the Golfboard which adds a new excitement to the game. Golfboard is easy to ride if you have good balance and/or have ridden a snowboard. They charge a lot for out of towners...$20 extra to ride the Golfboard.
Good layout but long in the tooth
Staff was very friendly and we started on time. Pace was slow waiting at every hole and the coarse showed it's age.
Las Vegas-The National
Teamed up with regular members Wayne, Rick and Rick for my first game at the National. It felt like a home course, lots of great advice for a single walk on. The course plays very fair, no blind shots just a great layout. The staff at the course are very professional, no delays from the time you park the car to getting set up for play. The resort clubs could learn from this one, great customer service by observing the little things that matter. See you on my next visit for sure.
A nice classic convenient course
This is a course that has great history. The fairways and greens are in great shape. Bunkers (I found too many of them) were soft which allowed for outs in one stroke.
The location of the course mKes for easy navigation from the Strip.
Historic Track
We've played this course each of the last two years on our golf vacation to Las Vegas. It's a pretty wide open track and enjoyable for the two of us, (14 & 20 handicaps). The fairways could use some work, but the greens were decent.
Long in the tooth
Close to the Strip but the Course has seen better days
not in good shape
you play this course because of its history and the pga players and movie stars like the rat pack ect. please somebody step up , write a check and get this wonderful course back on track.
Great Day at The National
After a quick warmup on the driving range,we headed to the first tee. The course was in good shape. One must make good shots to score well...poor shots will put you in the trees forcing you to chip back out into the fairways. Staff is very helpful, friendly and accommodating.
The course is in great shape
We played 18 in 4 hours, and had nobody rushing or hitting into us. The fairways are wide and easy to hit for any level of player. The greens were a little spotty, but not too firm. The course has great specials on food and drink. Overall a great course with very little of the typical vegas course desert areas. A challenge for players of all levels.
First time for a beginner in Vegas
great course, tradition, friendly enviroment. everything properly set. thanks Golf Now!
Closest to the Strip
This course is tucked in a neighborhood close to the strip. It is an older course with mature trees which protects it from the winds of the desert. Most of the fairways are wide but the water is strategically placed and can be hazardous to your game. We played three middle of the cost range courses and this was our favorite. The fairways were mowed extremely short which made our playing a little more difficult. Las Vegas covers a lot of territory and we opted not to play the courses on the west edge of town. After playing this course once I would like to play it again sometime. Visitor.
