Fun all terrain course with lots of wildlife
First time I've played this course and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. At times you're on a lush green course surrounded by geese and water, then you head up to the high desert with dry creek beds and squirrels. Loved that you could choose between a paved cart path or the off-road dirt path...we chose the latter on most occasions. We will definitely be back!
OK if you get it on "Hot Deal"
Ranger does not keep track of the time. Doesn't push slow people to get a move on it. Our round took 6 hours!!!
in need of repairs attendant [mike] not accomadating. bad for their bussiness

Overall a great fun course. Great views of the icy and the surrounding mountains.
Even though they'd just punched and sanded the greens this was a fun course. I try to play here a couple of times a year as it's a nice layout - some elevated tees with great views. Not a lot of "trouble", but you can find it if you go looking for it. If you're in Reno, give it a shot - especially if you get Golfnow rates.
Frozen
Unfortunately, we played on a day a storm rolled in and had to quit after 11 holes as we nearly froze in the windy, cold, and then rain. One thing was unusual. We thought we had made the tee time for 8 but when we got there, they made everyone start at 9 with a shotgun start. That made the course immediately full. I'd never seen that except in tournaments.
fun but some bare patches
Course is very fun with the use of elevation, but it has some big bare earth patches. Greens are in very good shape.
enjoy the staff greatly
Always have enjoyed playing this course. Has really matured into a great course since opening. Humbles you if you don't give it the respect that it deserves.
Very challenging terrain
This is my second time playing the course. The first time I played ultra conservative because of blind shots not knowing the lay of the fairways and doglegs. The second time although I went prepared, we suffered a most distressing windy day. A 5 iron shot from an elevated tee on a 190 yard par 3 only went half way to the green. My playing companions hit slight fades that almost boomeranged back at us. Even the planes landing in Reno overhead had trouble in their landing patterns. I am looking forward to another attempt soon to play this course when I don't have to fight mother nature..
Fun course to play!
This was the first time my wife and I played this course, today was very windy on some holes which made it a challenge for us. Must keep your ball in the fairways, rough grass is cut high. For my wife playing from the red tee boxes, her tee shots from tee box to fairways on some holes was difficult due to the gravel, bushes that her ball would have to carry over to reach the fairways on some holes.
Would play here again
I thought this course was tough because I had never played it before and I am a amateur golfer. I enjoyed the course overall but I thought their roughs were really rough and there were times where I could not even find my ball.
fun course
this course is fun and challenging, with a good amount of difficult holes
Needs maintanance
Sand traps cease to be sand traps when there are weeds gowing in them
good golf now deal made it worth while.
the greens roll pretty fast so dont hammer your putts...the ball will get there. course was in average shape for this time of year...all of the rain we have had over the last few weeks has helped it stay green and playable.
The worst course in Reno/Sparks
The fairways are weeds. The greens are blah. Every lie is different. There are so many holes in the fairways you can hit a drive straight down the middle and never find your ball.
Could be so much better... trees, water and layout make for an interesting layout.
Etiquette does not seem to be enforced... many players dressed unapproprately - too many novice players slowing up pace ( better known as hackers) - spoiled the round.
The course is not well manicured - the club house facilities are outdated.
Play in the morning
Wildcreek was a nice golf course just a short drive from downtown Reno. There was a decent variety of shots though some holes were of a strange design in relation to ravines. For example I'd have to hit a 7-8 iron to stay short of it or carry like 280, then I'd be left with a very long iron/ fairway wood shot towards the green. The scenery was nice by area standards, there were views of the mountains including Mount Rose and one wild construction project of a house on the hill above. I was paired up with some regulars there who shared some of the local knowledge with me. As it neared noon it was already starting to become very windy. The course was in good shape and quite green for the nearing the end of summer. I had a good time with my round and would play again at the course if in the area.
The course condition has greatly improved. It suffered from a bad winter couple of years ago, consistent work by crew produced a better course.
A group of five four tee times before me caused me to end the round early. It was just too slow and frustrating. I don't like twenty minute waits between shots. There were so many of us backed up, I ended up hitting up into the group in front of me. I didn't realize they were still waiting in a valley which was not visible from the tee box.
Suggestion for the course - do not allow groups of five on weekends.
Needs a little love
According to the GolfNow synopsis this course once was a stop on the PGA Seniors tour - it must have been a long, long time ago. This is now a fairly typical muni that's looking a bit worn out. Nice layout and nice views from some of the holes, but in need of some serious maintenance upgrades. Reasonably priced, and you get what you pay for.
Makes me wonder what it was like back in the day
3 star score based on how awesome the layout is and how much potential this place has or what it used to be back in the day according to past stories. The course did hold a senior tour event. Good people at the course as well fantastic service wish I could give the course more stars.
Main Issues= Rough is not grass it's weed patches. Greens are a bit on the long side/slow and always seem wet if playing mid morning. Water seems to not just be in the hazards but is all over the course not sure if its drainage issues or over watering. Rate of 55 on weekend is way to expensive when you can drive up the road and play at Sierra Sage for 35-40 and its in way better shape.
LOVED IT!! GOOD CHALLENGE AND GREAT VIEWS
MY WIFE AND I ENJOYED OUR EXPERIENCE AT WILD CREEK, THE STAFF WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND THE COURSE WAS VERY WELL MAINTAINED. I LOOK FORWARD TO RETURNING TO RENO AND PLAYING THE COURSE AGAIN.
