The Barony Course at Port Royal Golf Club constitutes 18 of this well-known island facility's 54 holes.
Playing to just 6,543 yards from the gold tees, Barony is a very enjoyable course for all skill levels. The back nine in particular is a fine mix of long and short holes. Like its sister courses at Port Royal, Barony begins and ends at the club's beautiful Antebellum-style clubhouse.
From the tee, many of the holes on Barony appear to be relatively open. But as you approach the green the real challenge of the course becomes clear. The greens are small and protected by deep bunkers and Bermuda rough, demanding an excellent touch with the medium and short irons. This is a course where accuracy, not length is the key factor.

Good layout. Poor Pace of play
We expected a wet course as a rain was just ending but the pace of play was terrible and we never saw a marshal to check on it. There was no starter to give any directions or information on the course. When we arrived we found that the grill on-site was closed for a private function so we had to go offsite to grab a bite and get back in time for our tee time. Just felt that this information could have been communicated in one of the several text and emails sent.
As a beginner this course is fun and challenging
Always a friendly staff and usually a good pace of play.
Fairways were in good shape the course was in good condition the greens could be in a little bit better shape.
Challenging course but fair
The course will challenge all skill levels as the fairways are tight and many of the greens are small. I noticed that I used everything in my bag after playing there. Played most recently in the winter and of course the Bermuda fairways and rough are dormant but the course was in great shape. Would play again anytime
Solid but wintry grass
Once u make it to the first tee which can be a bit confusing, u see that the grass is very dormant which is kind of a bummer but that’s just what u get this time of year. Also, the carts do not have gps and there are mainly only in ground yardage markers so having a range finder is a necessity. A bit narrow overall but fun. Played middle tees. A single played with us and he played from the tips and omgosh that would have been extremely difficult. For the price I would do it again after a while.
