Golden Bear Golf Club at Indigo Run

Course was in good condition and greens in great shape. The course marshal badgered us for six of the front nine holes threatening to make us skip a hole to catch up. There was no one pushing us and the foursome behind us was over a hole behind. I am all for keeping the pace of play up but it seemed over the top when we were over a hole in front of the party behind us. I just wish we could have enjoyed our round without the constant harassment. One of our group skipped the back nine ias she didn’t feel comfortable playing. The rest of the staff were great but the older marshal with a dark tan was out of line and created an uncomfortable experience.

Some greens kept carts 100+ yards away.

Course was ok, would be nice to have GPS in cards to determine yardage. Also pace of play was very slow, took 5 hrs and 15 minutes to play ..

Pace of play was a problem. Tee of time 12:32. Quit after hole 13 at 4 hours. We saw a ranger probably 3 or 4 times but nothing got better as the round went on. I did go in the clubhouse and spoke with the gentleman at the desk to explain our issues. He was understanding and did give me 9 hole rain checks for our group. Never really got an explanation why play was so slow. We live in Indigo and have never seen it this bad at Golden Bear.

We came to Hilton Head for our 2nd annual girls’ golf outing. Although, our group was a little smaller this year, we still had a foursome. This course was challenging, but not too hard, in fact, I scored better than normal. I would definitely come back and play here again.

Greens were a little bumpy but rolled ok, fairways were a little chewed up but reasonable for October.

Superb course in HH. Got teamed up with 3 great golfers of varying skill level. Pleasure to play the course. Pine straw will hide balls and stay on fairway or the rough will make it a long long day and take some balls.

Golden Bear is an interesting golf course on Hilton Head Island. Price point is good. Very good conditions. Pace of play is terrible. No range ring in place.

Course is in great condition. Quick greens, nice fairways. The only thing missing is GPS on carts. I enjoyed it enough to play again the next day. I would recommend this course when you are on the Island.

Average course, the starter was nice and informative a few holes in we get a drive y from the course marshal and says we are on the “naughty list” for pace of play. But we didn’t seem to be holding up the people behind us. As we made the turn once again our pace of play was commented on so we asked if the group behind us could play through. They marshal stated yes they should since we were 6 1/2 minutes behind schedule. I’ve never been to a course where 6 minutes is an issue, but we were in no rush and went in to get a drink and use the bathroom. Came back out and the group behind us still had not came through so I’m not sure we were the naughty slow group. A average course but there’s plenty to choose from in the area and the overconcern about pace made it a place that I will probably pass on next time.
