About
Oyster Reef features elevated tees and lush fairways lined by thick stands of live oak and pine. Numerous doglegs accented by strategically located mounds and fairway bunkers, call for well-planned tee shots. Varying sizes of greens with well-defined tiers place a premium on precise approach shots.
The par-3 sixth hole, which plays 192 yards from the back tees to a green set against a backdrop of Port Royal Sound, is one of the most visually spectacular holes on Hilton Head. Oyster Reef is now a semi-private member-owned club with a limited number of tee times for guest play,
The carefully-maintained facility, designed by noted course architect Rees Jones, continues to be a favorite destination for serious golfers as well as a favorite with locals.

Slow Play
I was playing in a twosome in the afternoon and we are good players (under 10 index). We paid for 9 holes and our round took 2 1/2 hrs. We were playing behind 2 twosomes. A high school team teed off 30 minutes behind us and caught up on the last hole, they were walking.
Beautiful course
Oyster reef is a beautiful course, extremely well-maintained. Greens were super fast. Everyone that works there was super super friendly. We will definitely play there again.
O Reef is a favorite when I’m on HHI for its views, and ease of play.
Expected more
The course was good, but for the price and the recommendations, I expected more. Very typical dogleg, tight course
Great greens
Greens were fantastic for February play. Several groups in front of us made for a longer than normal round.
Nice greens
Not bad for early in the season. Will be better when grass and foliage returns. Greens were great. Only complaint is we never saw the beverage cart once during the entire round.
Not the best conditions
Greens were in tough shape and off the fairway even slightly was hard as concrete.
Solid course
Solid course for Hilton head. A bit overpriced in my opinion but a good track with some nice holes. Worth putting into the HH rotation but there are better courses around the price or cheaper in my opinion
We have played here on multiple times & years and always enjoy the course. Challenging but fair. Greens are in nice shape.
Wide fairways and very nice greens.
Playing golf in February for a North Dakotan is always a treat. The course was in nice shape for winter. The greens were very true and the bunkers were well maintained. Enjoying the experience and the pace of play was great.
Frost delay
We would have appreciated being notified of a frost delay in advance as it was over an hour delay we were told when we arrived for our mid-day tee time
