Oyster Reef features elevated tees and lush fairways lined by thick stands of live oak and pine. Numerous doglegs accented by strategically located mounds and fairway bunkers, call for well-planned tee shots. Varying sizes of greens with well-defined tiers place a premium on precise approach shots.

The par-3 sixth hole, which plays 192 yards from the back tees to a green set against a backdrop of Port Royal Sound, is one of the most visually spectacular holes on Hilton Head. Oyster Reef is now a semi-private member-owned club with a limited number of tee times for guest play,

The carefully-maintained facility, designed by noted course architect Rees Jones, continues to be a favorite destination for serious golfers as well as a favorite with locals.

Nice course. Aeration had recently happened, which I was aware of prior to booking. I played the course last year and enjoyed it more this year.

No issues to think of. They let me go out as one of first tee times, which was great since I made it back to hotel before the kids were awake!!! Thanks

Disappointing

Very slow round. Paid half due to green aeration. Lack of GPS in carts was very disappointing. I haven't played anywhere without GPS in years. Sorry to say but I would probably not play here again.

Loved the layout

The course has an excellent design with many doglegs and very good par 3s. Multiple tee boxes allow for everyone to play at their own challenging level. Would highly recommend this course!

Great layout, average conditions

We have played numerous courses on/around the island for many years, so we wanted to see how this course was. Pro staff is great! The course layout is great but the conditions could be so much better. It would be nice to know if there are temporary greens cut into fairways BEFORE playing the hole. Got caught in a storm after making the turn and had to navigate back to the clubhouse to find nobody was around. Payed pretty good money and wanted to see about a rain check for nine holes since we only played half the round.

Overall experience

Well it was 92 and humid. They did warn us the beverage cart would be out until 9am. Not one time did we see that beverage cart our entire round and to boot the bev cart starts on hole one? They always always start on 18 and work backwards. Not acceptable.

Afternoon delight, but….

My wife and myself enjoyed the layout and conditions. The staff was helpful. When we checked in we were told everyone starts on hole no 1 today. When we made the turn we found ourselves behind 3 golf carts with 6 people, 3 kids and 3 adults. After we skipped a hole to get ahead of them , we found ourselves behind another group with 3 carts, 4 players and a spectator…???? This should not occur.

GREAT TIME
