Robber's Row at Port Royal Golf Club
About
A Pete Dye redesign of a George Cobb and Willard Byrd original design helped take the Robber's Row Course at Port Royal Golf Club toward the head of the pack on Hilton Head. Dye added or redesigned 43 bunkers on the front nine, changing par from 35 to 36 and did some shortening on the back nine to change par from 37 to 36.
The golf course plays little more than 6,000 yards, with a somewhat-friendly 124 slope rating from the tips. Players will have to do some work on their approach shots, as the Cobb/Dye design keeps its greens well protected with bunkers.
The golf course is a scenic delight, however, and in a nice move, you get history lessons at the tee boxes to help let you know the past of the area you are playing, which was once an important location in the Civil War.

Was very disappointed slow play poor condition … Will not play again
A good round
Friendly and helpful Pro shop staff. Starter was having a tough time getting people organized and out between the 2 courses due to some district golf event. We got on course about 1/2 hour late, but enjoyed our round. Course was coming out of dormancy and a bit rough around the edges but the greens were spectacular.
excellent HHI course
course in good condition for March. fun to play. a few challenges for a novice like me. shot a 94. sand traps were hard, packed sand, but greens were terrific

Great greens but overall easier course.
Fairways and layout were average. Greens were exquisite in both quality and pin placement. The course difficulty came in the greens and pin placement. Fairways and layout were on the easier side.
Pace of play was on the slower side but that’s endemic to all courses in heavy tourist areas.

Nice greens
Green in great shape, fairways dry and spotty due to lack of rain in the area. Drive it straight as there are many trees. Good variety in the layout in both distance and direction of dogleg.
How to play again before I leave.
wfiedler,

1st round at Robbers Row
Nice pro shop.
Friendly and helpful.
Course is in Pretty good shape..
I would definitely play there again.
Good choice
I consider it a “go to” course when visiting HHI. Very nice practice facilities and staff. Interesting history of the land on which it sits. Conditions were good and has a nice variety of hole layouts.

Friendly staff did not move extremely slow players ahead of us resulting in a 5+ hour round ending in the rain on the last 3 holes. Many groups behind us could not finish.
Very good practice areas.
u314162449339,
Thank you for you review and rating. Glad your interactions with our team were positive. Sorry we didn't do a better job of managing pace of play. We'll work harder at controlling pace moving forward. Hope to see you again soon.

Good resort course
My son-in-law and I played the full course and found it to be a good challenge. The course is beautiful and well-kept. Despite heavy rains and colder weather in the days before we played, the course was in great shape. I definitely recommend this course for anyone staying on the north side of Hilton Head.
Governor on cart was so strong I couldn’t get going w/o rocking back and forth. I thought I was going to run out of “juice” before I could get back.
Easy course to play. Not much water. Lots of live oak leaves and other plant material that was blown around on a windy day.
Great layout.
This was my first time playing this course and I was pleased. Greens were excellent. Fairways were ok, but because of the time of year it was expected (winter grass being replaced by spring summer grass).

Thank you for your review and rating. I'm sorry your experience wasn't positive. We'll work harder on ensuring a good pace of play on busier days. Please let me know if there's anything I can do for you.
