Robber's Row at Port Royal Golf Club
About
A Pete Dye redesign of a George Cobb and Willard Byrd original design helped take the Robber's Row Course at Port Royal Golf Club toward the head of the pack on Hilton Head. Dye added or redesigned 43 bunkers on the front nine, changing par from 35 to 36 and did some shortening on the back nine to change par from 37 to 36.
The golf course plays little more than 6,000 yards, with a somewhat-friendly 124 slope rating from the tips. Players will have to do some work on their approach shots, as the Cobb/Dye design keeps its greens well protected with bunkers.
The golf course is a scenic delight, however, and in a nice move, you get history lessons at the tee boxes to help let you know the past of the area you are playing, which was once an important location in the Civil War.

Very slow play no ranger
Horrible afternoon. 5 plus hours of golf. No ranger. Won't cone back. One group held up everything
Perfect round
Weather could not have been better. Clear blue skies and upper 70s. Conditions excellent. Paired us up with a terrific couple. And pace of play was right on time
BDFRADKIN,
Thank you for your feedback and rating. We are very happy your experience was positive. The weather and course conditions are great this time of year. Hope to see you again during your next trip to HHI.

Robbers Row Course Review
The course I was in nice condition and is well maintained. Lots of fun to play. They have a very nice clubhouse., pro shop and restaurant. Great place to play golf on HHI
The slowest round of golf in the history of the world
Hilton Head Island was packed - so I get it, BUT; We had a 2:36 tee time on Oct 15th. The Staff was extremely friendly at check-in and bag drop. Made you feel like they wanted your business. We figured...'good start' - Then we got to the starter and he apologized that we had to wait a few minutes for a cart - he actually said, and I quote: "I'm very sorry we are out of carts, we should have one for you in a few minutes. BUT the good news is -we are waiting for the carts to come in and it is WIDE OPEN in front of you. You shouldn't see ANYONE for a while" We thought "ok, that works' We pulled up to the first tee and there was a twosome on the tee waiting for the fairway foursome, who were then waiting for the other foursome to clear the green. We were already waiting for 3 groups on the FIRST TEE after being told it was 'wide open' The first 6 (six) holes took 2 hours. Let me repeat that...the FIRST SIX HOLES TOOK 2 HOURS. The LAYOUT was great, the course was immaculate. We probably could have inspected every blade of grass if we wanted to. There was a ranger - but it was hopeless. We finally gave up after 10 holes. We rode the rest of the way in along the path and EVERY hole had multiple groups waiting. I've never seen anything like it.
wiz1065,
Thank you for your feedback and review. I'm glad your experience with our team was positive and it sounds like you enjoyed the layout and conditions too. In regards to pace, we didn't manage the tee sheet reservations as well as we should have. That is the main reason pace was very slow. We are working on that so we can improve our guest experience. Hope you have an opportunity to return and play the entire course.

Very welcoming
My friend and I booked a tee time for the same afternoon that we were flying into town. Turns out the flights were delayed by hours and the airlines lost my clubs. I called to explain my situation and to beg forgiveness for being late for my scheduled time. The people on the phone were so understanding, they held our slot, helped me with clubs, shoes, balls etc. and fit us in when we finally arrived to play. The staff were so friendly. I was completely overwhelmed by the way they took care of us and made a very stressful situation into a very pleasant afternoon. I highly recommend the oyster reef golf course! Great staff! Thank you for a great start to my golf vacation
Awful experience. Awful.
Starter was as rude as I have experienced in 35 years of playing. 5 hour round and they said that I should expect that, yet signage says 4:15. 3 groups in each hole. Ridiculous. Amenities are nice, but the starter and 5 hour round will keep my clan from coming back.
Count your blessings. It actually got WORSE as the week went on . Our first 6 holes took over two hours. We quit after 10 .
Simply the best golf on the island
Tried to book 156pm on 10-09-21 for $75 through golfnow. Hotel wifi wasn't a secure network so couldn't complete transaction. Called the club and spoke to Lore, pronounced LOR-ee. She was so professional, pleasant, and accommodating. She told me to just come into the pro shop and they would handle it. When I got there, Mr. Mumford in the shop took care of everything. He was terrific. On the outside, Vince and Bryant were super cool and helpful. The people here are simply the best in the business. 5 stars all day, every time.
Robbers Row is in fantastic shape despite 5 inches of rain in the last week. Tees and fairways and greens are what you'd expect at this price point - excellent. Played front 9 of Barony too. It's a little more soggy but still really fun and in excellent shape. I'm a 9 handicap playing 80 rounds a year. This is the best run facility with the best course conditions in Hilton Head. Worth every penny.
Course conditions
I don’t usually play at courses that are this finely manicured. It was a treat to play on a course in this great of condition.
Wonderful Day
This was our first time play Robbers Tow, but definitely not our last! It was a challenge for me on some of the tee’s, and I left the driver in the bag occasionally! My wife loved the picturesque layout!
Greens
The greens were difficult to judge due to slow speeds. Breaks weren’t as severe as they appeared and grass direction had more impact than anything else. Just could never get used to the slow speed.
u037338691,
Thank you for your feedback. Sorry your experience wasn't positive. 5 hours is a long time and we'll work harder at managing busier days.
