About
A Pete Dye redesign of a George Cobb and Willard Byrd original design helped take the Robber's Row Course at Port Royal Golf Club toward the head of the pack on Hilton Head. Dye added or redesigned 43 bunkers on the front nine, changing par from 35 to 36 and did some shortening on the back nine to change par from 37 to 36.
The golf course plays little more than 6,000 yards, with a somewhat-friendly 124 slope rating from the tips. Players will have to do some work on their approach shots, as the Cobb/Dye design keeps its greens well protected with bunkers.
The golf course is a scenic delight, however, and in a nice move, you get history lessons at the tee boxes to help let you know the past of the area you are playing, which was once an important location in the Civil War.

New Course - Great Day
The 4some enjoyed the course condition and the layout of the course for white ties.
Girls Gone Wild Golf Trip!!
Overall, great course. We never saw the beverage cart come through the whole 18-holes, but was told there was one out, between the two courses. Luckily, we had gotten some beverages before we started and put them in the provided coolers. We also never saw the bathroom on #5 hole, but found the ones on #9 and #13.
Staff was great in the pro shop, golf car prep, and in the club house restaurant!

So-so
Course design was great but the greens were in really poor shape. Maybe they just top dressed them? I wish I had known. It was a hot day but the course has no place to stop for food or drinks and the cart girl showed up once and late in the round. All the other staff were very friendly though.

Thank you for your feedback and rating. We aerated our greens on the Barony course in mid-June and we did top dress with sand. Sorry you were not informed prior to booking your tee time. Hope you'll be able to play when the greens are completely healed from aeration. We'll work on doing a better job of notifying our guest of preventative maintenance prior booking times.

Great Course
For all the years we’ve been coming to HH, this was the first time we have ever played Port Royal. What a beautiful course and extremely friendly staff. Would highly recommend adding this course to your week of golf.

Beautiful course
Wonderful experience playing Port Royal Robber’s Riw course. Course in good condition (greens a bit sandy), overall straightforward with huge (but not deep) bunkers, and some water hazards (with alligators!). Lots of gorgeous vegetation, views, birds and jumping fish as well as the alligators! Loved it!

Loved playing this course!
This is our first time visiting Hilton Head. We picked 4 courses to play golf on during our stay here. This has been one of our favorites so far. It was in beautiful shape, has a great layout, was challenging without being impossible. The staff was very friendly. It was a great experience! Would highly recommend this course to our friends.

Been playing this course for years. Newer golf carts. Fairways and greens is very good condition. Very popular course as earlier tees times were harder to come by. Book early

Good Layout - punched greens
Love the layout on this course, but the greens had been aerated recently and were very slow. Wish they had told us before we booked this course.
