About
A Pete Dye redesign of a George Cobb and Willard Byrd original design helped take the Robber's Row Course at Port Royal Golf Club toward the head of the pack on Hilton Head. Dye added or redesigned 43 bunkers on the front nine, changing par from 35 to 36 and did some shortening on the back nine to change par from 37 to 36.
The golf course plays little more than 6,000 yards, with a somewhat-friendly 124 slope rating from the tips. Players will have to do some work on their approach shots, as the Cobb/Dye design keeps its greens well protected with bunkers.
The golf course is a scenic delight, however, and in a nice move, you get history lessons at the tee boxes to help let you know the past of the area you are playing, which was once an important location in the Civil War.

One of the most expensive courses I played on. Pretty but not fabulous. Could have been more challenging.
I’d hit it again
Fast pace of play, friendly staff, moderately challenging for average golfer but not out of reach. Few tee boxes need some work but otherwise course is in great shape for end of summer. Will be back for sure.
Holiday golf as it should be
Had very agreable day ,beautiful setting,very friendly staff.driving range closed ,was not informed before.bunkers and greens perfect, fairways a bit patchy here and there.Overall good value for money.
Great Value
Great course. Not particularly difficult. Bunkers had just been refurbished so fun when having to hit out of. Green medium quick but roll true, nice facilities. Very friendly, welcoming staff. Will return.

the course was in good condition. The pins looked like they had been there a bit but the course and greens were in excellent condition.
Lots of sand.
The course was overall in good shape. Greens were slow. Rough was patchy and not in good condition in places. Wide fairways. Lots of bunkers with deep, powdery sand.
Good Value
Very few rough spots on fairways, greens quick with no disease. Bunkers just had added sand and in superb condition. This time of year no one on course, three of us played in 31/2 hours. Enjoyable day of golf.

We have played here at least once a year for the last. 25+ years. The course never disappoints.

Overall average condition, enjoyable, several doglegs local knowledge of yardage would be helpful

A nice layout. Fairways in good shape. Greens a bit rough in a few areas. No one in front of us the whole day. Solid value.
Robbers Row Review
Had a 7am tee time on a Monday, group in front of us was really moving. We played our round in 3.5 hours which was amazing.
Course condition and layout was excellent. Greens were maybe a touch slow in the morning given dampness. Course is fair.
Would definitely play again.
