Robber's Row at Port Royal Golf Club

About
A Pete Dye redesign of a George Cobb and Willard Byrd original design helped take the Robber's Row Course at Port Royal Golf Club toward the head of the pack on Hilton Head. Dye added or redesigned 43 bunkers on the front nine, changing par from 35 to 36 and did some shortening on the back nine to change par from 37 to 36.
The golf course plays little more than 6,000 yards, with a somewhat-friendly 124 slope rating from the tips. Players will have to do some work on their approach shots, as the Cobb/Dye design keeps its greens well protected with bunkers.
The golf course is a scenic delight, however, and in a nice move, you get history lessons at the tee boxes to help let you know the past of the area you are playing, which was once an important location in the Civil War.

Worth the fee
Overall, the course was in great shape, and the staff was very friendly; however, the pace of play was a challenge.
Several groups ahead of us were playing very slowly; however, I do not blame the course for the delays.
I highly recommend you playing this course if you are visiting Hilton Head!!!
It was a pleasure to play this course!!!
Robber’s Row didn’t disappoint
Overall, course layout, degree of difficulty, and playability very good. It was aerated a week prior, so greens still sandy and bumpy. But priced to account for greens.
Interesting history description in markers describing the land during the civil War.
LOVED IT HERE
this was my 2nd favorite course to play (shipyard was my favorite). the lady at the front desk was so very nice and helpful with my many questions. i’ve only been golfing for 2 months so i had a lot. the course was absolutely gorgeous and everyone was so nice even the people playing too! 10/10
Good course.
The courteous employees. Especially the fella width the Boston accent. I appreciate a bit of humor. I golfed at a couple other courses before this one on the island. I feel obligated to point out that the green conditions were not the best as compared with the other places I golfed on the island wit comparable prices. But, I would return because we always stay at a nearby hotel.
Well maintained
Great golf. Very well maintained. Friendly wide fairways that can be made harder by moving back to longer tees. Very friendly staff
Guys trip
Very accommodating and friendly service.
Fairways were excellent and greens good.
Only negatives are lack of gps and cart beverage service. Halfway house or cart would’ve been nice
Return after 5 years
Course was in poor condition.
Pace was good as it was Mother's day PM
Course needs some care and attention
Nice Course
This was a fun and challenging course in good condition. Greens were very good and the layout was great!
Staff was so-so and they barely have any drinking water on the course.
Good and bad
The staff was friendly and helpful. The greens were well manicured. The tee boxes were in sad shape and some fairways needed major attention. Pace of play was 5 hours.
Excellent course
Beautiful course great staff they go above and beyond to make your experience top-notch
