Robert Cupp at Palmetto Hall Plantation
About
While Hilton Head is chock full of courses designed by some of the greatest names in golf, just one of them was designed with a computer to give it lines straighter than an arrow throughout.
The Robert Cupp Course at Palmetto Hall can be one of the most interesting and eclectic courses you'll play, as well as possibly one of the toughest. From the back tees the course plays to 7,079, with a slope rating of 144.
Named as Golf World's top designer in 1992, Cupp created a course that is visually challenging as well as challenging to play. With sand traps looking as if they were drawn in by, well, a computer, this is a course you'll tell your friends about, though you may not tell them your score.

Hot deal with 10$ off. Great lay out , your approach to all greens Were tough. Greens were fast for January but consist. Definitely play it again pop
I I
Nice and tight!
The course layout is great, just make sure you hit it straight! Water and trees line most fairways. A ball strikers paradise.
Challenging but fair
This was the toughest course I played of the three. Following a lot rain so was cart path only and played longer than normal I’m sure. Good value for the money
Early golf
Played at 730 am. Everyone was friendly and efficient. Fairways could have been better. Greens were very good. Great staff.
course conditions are suspect
played this past week and course was not over seeded so only the tee boxes had actual grass. Many fairway shots came to land on dirt which is really unacceptable. even dormant grass would have been fine. this made it difficult to distinguish the contour of the fairway and differentiate it from the rough so course management was a mystery. the greens were fine and so were most tee boxes, but some tee boxes were not over seeded and again had to hit off dirt. staff was friendly and layout seemed good so probably a much better course to play in prime season.
It was a good course, but it needed investment
The overall fairway and green conditions were excellent. And the combination of hamburgers, fries, and beer sold in the clubhouse was about $30 per person, which was reasonably priced. It was more delicious than other handmade burger joints.
However, unfortunately, unlike other golf courses located in HHI, GPS is not installed (not even a brief layout was seen on the sign)
For the first time, I was quite tired. I couldn't know the distance and layout, so I had to keep my phone on. And maybe it was old, the sign corroded and turned, so I went the wrong course. I hope you invest in creating a golfer-friendly environment such as GPS and signs.
Palmetto Hall - Cupp Course
Conditions were very good. Relatively fast greens, true roll. Fairways were in good condition but due to the growth of new grass, ball did not roll too far on the drive.
Highly recommended to play. Placement shots are required to manage strokes.
Golf carts do not have GPS and there are hazards not visible from the tees. You your Range Finder for glad shots.
Best Track All Week
This course is visually stunning and impeccably maintained. Fantastic layout and what I would call a target golf design. One would benefit though from having a course layout with them, either hard copy or GPS. Many hidden hazards. A def recommend.
Staff was very friendly. Course in good condition. Some very tricky pin placements ment for a challenging round.
Nice layout
Fairways need some work but overall better than the last time played the course
Cart room
Every person I dealt with was fantastic. I chatted with the starter for 15 minutes as we are both from the northeast. I spoke to a ranger on the course for 10 min. Very nice. The cart drop area was not so good. Not rude but not nice either. They put my clubs on a cart and I went in to the grill room for lunch. I forgot something in my bag so I ran outside to find my clubs uncovered and it was raining. I covered them myself.
Disappointing
We didn't realize (or were told) the course was overseeded and very wet. Therefore the fairways, greens, and tee boxes had not been cut for quite some time. Greens VERY slow, again uncut. There should have been a reduction in greens fees because of the conditions,
after reading for a second time the reviews of this course posted right before my post, I can't believe that we played the same course. there was no new growth grass on the fairways or rough- all grass was dormant(at best). if other reviewer consider that 'excellent' conditions then we have a large disparity on what golf is supposed to be like for even a minimum viable product
