Royal St. Augustine Golf and Country Club
About
Located in Florida’s oldest city, Royal St. Augustine Golf & Country Club offers a glimpse of the area’s lush foliage and native marshlands. The course has a visually interesting layout with elevated, sprawling greens and a variety of bunker shapes and sizes. The moguled fairways and sandy waste areas are two other distinguishing features of the course. It is a tight course with large greens and gentle undulations. The layout provides a “target-golf” experience that puts a premium on accuracy and distance control. The numerous bends in the course in combination with the blustery winds also makes proper club selection very important.

Golfer Reviews
Golfing like a Royal
Took a left instead of going right to get to the 15th hole but we had the course to ourselves and so we got a preview of the last three holes and took note of the water protecting the 16th hole green on our way backwards to 15. :D
Royal Treatment!
Challenging course, nice amenities, wonderful staff and a wonderful experience!
Decent shape
Back 9 only. They are mowing the fairways again and greens were pretty good.
Course was in good shape, but front nine was closed. Greens were slow; you had to really strike the ball to get it to the hole. Staff was very friendly, charging me for 9 hole rate since front nine was closed.
The course is nice. Need maintenance
It was worth playing
The maintenance needs improvement
Still love/hate
You either love or hate this course but after playing it 180 times in 12 years, I still can't decide. There are the ups and downs such as the poor mowing conditions occasionally (due to broken down mowers, which happens), the occasional greens problems (#1 took a long time to get right), the unfortunate bounces after a decent drive, etc. but they are balanced by the great staff, especially Jake and Destiny, and the overall loose, have-fun/good luck attitude of everyone there.
#1 is the hardest hole, then #15; easiest is probably one of the par threes; my favorites are #7 and #17. Overall, it's a decent course with occasional maintenance issues like many courses.
Absolutely Horrid
I paid for 18, based off of the photos I saw on google and GN I expected this to be a pretty nice country club course. I arrived to dingy golf carts in a rundown-ish neighborhood. I was already not happy. Once I got the first tee I could tell it how it was going to go… weeds in the tee box. The fairways are about the same length of the rough. Dead greens. Left after whole 6.
